mikepence threatened to sue me / contributions

as you may or may not be aware the poster 'mikepence' has asked people to donate to enable him (and his family?

) to travel to the silentlambs march and to file charges against their alleged abuser.

because he seemed to suddenly become very opposed to the idea of attending the march, i and some others asked him what i thought were simple and reasonable questions.

Thank you so much for clarifying this. Mike posted the text that at least one person on this topic received via email over on http://www.geocities.com/hourglass2.geo/ (on the International Open Forum for JWs), and I was grappling with my conscience on what to do.

I really appreciate your clarification that Mike is legit for the sake of all who may have seen his topic there.

To Mike, I want you to know that my heart goes out to what happened to your family. You must feel angry, completely humiliated and demoralized. I know that I would feel this way. I hope you prevail in your lawsuit against the Society because it will teach them an important lesson and help compensate your family for the wrongs you have suffered in the process.

Hi Bill,
Excellent work!

Should the Watchtower Society ever respond to Christian reformation and JWs are given the privilege of voting for Society officers, then you should surely get nominated to a Governing Body post.

It is extremely rare to see someone like yourself take a stand for others unable to protect themselves, with no prospect of an earthly reward, and while facing bitter persecution.

I do hope that a wealthy philathropist will take on the cause of giving silent lambs a voice and recompense, and launch Silentlambs into permanent "high orbit" where those who love darkness cannot shoot it down.

i knocked on the locked door of the appeal hearing last night after they had dismissed bill and told the six elders that i had something to say to them and told them it was summed up it a letter i had written.i then asked them if i could read it to them and they could have their own copy when i was finished.they said that would be fine.. here it is.

The methods and pseudo-Biblical policies eminating from the present Governing Body are outdated indeed, however, it is NOT the Bible that is outdated. It is the Bible's misinterpretation and misapplication over the centuries by many other religious leaders including the Watchtower's Governing Body.

So I can't pity anyone who leaves the JW association based on their application of scriptural injunctions.

So this is the "fruit" that the J.H. worldview is now starting to see in harvest? You didn't refute anything Sheila said to prove there was any misapplication of scripture. You simply used this tragic topic as a sounding board to try and get in another jab at Jehovah, and another stab at the Bible itself.

As for your not pitying Bill, Sheila or others who defend the "silent lambs," I believe they never wanted your pity.

However, the whole heartless tone of your post is truly pitiful. Shame on you for speaking less than lovingly of those who have the guts to stand up for the human dignity of innocent kids. You are not the Cygnus that I knew, but only a dark shadow cast by the dim light of philosophies from "the gang," the artificial light from a worldview of darkness you seem to have naively embraced.

By the way, many religions throughout Christendom equally believe they have a BIBLICAL policy that they are exercising, but you of all people should know better than to believe pure Christianity practiced by Jesus and his Apostles is anywhere near the Christianity preached by church leadership today, Watchtower's GB included.

Put Them To Death! Poll

That's the most practical suggestion I have heard.

Suppose any of them repented, and over the years we were reasonably sure they really were remorseful and wanted to make-up for their crimes?

In this case, should we forgive them?

Afterall, whether we believe it or not, those at the Watchtower claim they are on the high road in wanting to give pedophiles a "second chance."

In recent days, I have started to question whether I was morally wrong in labelling all pedophiles as "monsters" and not having enough mercy in my heart like God to forgive the truly repentent ones. The Bible even says the only "unforgiveable sin" is against the Holy Spirit, and that any sins of the flesh can be forgiven if one is repentent to the core of their soul.

If someone who raped a child is repentent to the core of their soul, and they pay their dues over the years, should we give them a second chance (with a watchful eye over them to prevent any future abuses)?

I dunno, part of me wants to never forgive them no matter what.

Part of me wants to somehow rise above those human feelings of rage and start to really delve into what legitimate, healthy forgiveness is all about. This means going out on an emotional limb since we know that many criminals are deviants who can convince anyone they are sorry about their heinous deeds.

Then again, to NEVER forgive is like saying that it is IMPOSSIBLE to repent.

Any thoughts from out there?

Ros, would turning Manhattan Island into a self ruled penal colony like on the movie Escape From New York be what you had in mind?

I recall one scene in the movie where the mercenary they sent into Manhattan Island Prison to rescue the President of the United States (whose escape pod had landed on the World Trade Center after it was jettisoned from Air Force One during a terrorist hijacking) was entering a building, and a gang of hoodlums was about to rape some poor SOB. I kept thinking during that scene that if that soon to be gangraped prisoner was a child molester, then he is truly getting his comeuppance! Some think nobody deserves to be tortured like that, but when you think of what the little children endured at the hands of their attackers, one realizes no amount of torture is enough recompense for those children's suffering!

Unfortunately, isolating the worst criminals on self-ruled islands simply gives them the environment to create their own middle-age-style "kingdoms" where they derive vicarious enjoyment and thrills by manipulating others (much like dictators have done throughout history). Not only are we rewarding them, but preparing them for a possible dictatorship over free people if they were to mastermind an escape.

I say the only solution is swift execution by firing squad of those found guilty of murder, rape, torture or child sexual abuse through the jury justice system. Forget whether they're getting off "easy" because the goal should be simply to prevent them from ever harming another person again. Swift execution and castration of convicted sex offenders prior to their executions is the only way to stop the craziness the world is experiencing.

I cannot understand why some countries consider execution as "barbaric" considering the crimes committed?

All I can say, Prisca, is this whole thing is quite disconcerting and has taken me by surprise. I must have been really busy back in June to miss a 47 page thread that, I might add, contains highly inappropriate content for a forum of this sort (IMHO). The whole weirdness of the thread with its twisted *alleged* revelations about people I know and don't know reminds me of a scene in Stephen King's movie "Rose Red" where rocks fall out of the sky on that house. (I used *alleged* because it's difficult to sort fact from fiction in a jumbo thread like that.)

I was thinking about the strangeness of that whole thread when it suddenly occurred to me that I wonder how Obed's wife and kids are doing? Does he shelter them from this "wild" side of his personality? What must they think of their dad going "blonde"? These rather troubling thoughts were doing brake dances in my brain, especially considering that I thought Obed was a buttoned down JW maybe somewhat "inactive" but the type to spend lots of quality time with the wife and kids. Sort of makes me realize how little I "know" about those who were regulars on H2O in years past.

At least you seem to still be the same wholesome good-Aussie-sister Prisca that I have always known.

i'm worried sick at the thought that bill bowen is in danger, and sincerely hope those near him will provide his family with protection.

Derrick did I miss something? When I clicked on your link it took me to a Jah Christain Newsletter which happened to be posted by anon. I didn't see an anonymous death threat posted.

I never said anybody posted an anonymous death threat. I said that an anonymous poster on H2O has posted information that Bill Bowen said he was threatened. As you pointed out, the anonymous poster quoted from a newsletter.

Again, nowhere in my post or the post on H2O is there a claimed "death threat posted."
