this week i finally finished college.
feels great to finally be completed.. i have to say that the process has been therapeutic.
a year and a half ago when i started to go back i still defined myself in terms of my experience as a jw.. that is all gone now.
Congratulations on finishing college! You have alot to be proud of.
I hope I can someday just "forget." Doubtful, but it is fading more into the background.
It helps that I don't have any close family in. And of course no JWs contact us anymore.
Hope you are able to use your degree to work at something you enjoy...
i did that more days than i could count...i logged on at work all day and would check it hourly...then all evening at home.
i did this for a full two years i think.
this place is an incredible support group many of us may need due to the odd nature of many of our problems....that is what i used it for, even though many are here just for accurate information.. so thanks simon for caring enough all these years to compile and run this place....you have probably saved many lives...including mine btw but barely.....and of course you awesome contributors who came to my aid so many times....also a big thanks!!

Only you can decide the course to take. You are the one with the circumstances. Don't beat yourself up because of what you have to do.
If things get too unbearable, maybe miss a meeting or two because of "illness." Or maybe you need a vacation. A nice loooooong one.

Well, then, which is it?
collecting money after every meeting.
i could never get someone to help, and i was always last to leave.
when i did finally have one person who would help, if i used them too often i got questions about why the two of us were always taking the contributions.
Wow, it's a toss-up.
1. Cleaned bathrooms at Assembly Hall. Once had to clean where someone had thrown up all over the place.
2. Regularly cleaned the men's room at the KHall. Yep-bad aim.
3. Pulling weeds at the Assembly Hall in the 100 degree plus hot Texas sun at Rosenburg. Of course, to help out all the sisters that were weeding, brothers drove golf carts around with water.
4. Also scrubbing pots and pans at Assembly Hall build in Daytona, Fla. And that's after cutting loads of onions.
Ah, the memories of free labor for thirty years!
my brother in law left us and went to his heaven to be with his dad today at 1:20pm pacific.
it took his strong body almost two days to give up its fight.
now we can move on..... his daughter is due to have a new baby on may 20th....a very sad and very happy time and the continuation of life..
So very sorry to hear this. His poor daughter. I hope she has many people to comfort her.

"evidently" is the word the society uses for bullshit.
And the pile increases with each "generation" change.
like i dont have enough going on right now...my kitty is expecting and im not sure when she actually got pregnant but im thinking her due date might be around 5/10.
i have read online a bit about the process and i hope she can handle this.
i made a secure and private kittening box for her and she seems to like it in there with ripped up rags she can pile up into a nest.

Yes, cats can be expensive. So can dogs, and children. And while there are many things in life to stress about, sensitive people who care about animals (and I am one) are willing, if they can possibly afford it, to help all they can.
I might add that once our dog had puppies, and we thought one was stillborn. We rubbed it with a towel and it began to breathe.
A quiet place with food and water nearby is about all you can do right now. Sounds like you are doing great.
i really needed to find a place to write this as i don't believe i can talk with anyone else about my account, perhaps it is similar to a lot of yours.. last night for whatever reason i said i would go online and look up information on jws.
i have been raised as a jw all my life and baptized the last few years.
i looked at www.freeminds.org and www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com and couldn't believe how easily the whole of my lifes teachings were refuted.. i can't stop my brain from running, bs just in regards to theology alone (1914, paradise earth, celebrations etc.

I too know the feelings you have experienced.I just shook when I made my first post here. I was "in" for over thirty years. At fifty-eight years old I feel like I am really living again for the first time in years.
You must not rush into anything. It sounds like you are a person who does not run headlong into anything without thinking it through. This is wise.
The fact that you care about your family and do not want to hurt anyone means that you are an upstanding member of the human race and willing to take responsibility as a man. It does not mean that you are lacking in any way.
Everyone needs emotional support. I think we can see the effect on some that evidently don't have enough of it: something like a tantrum when it seems their views are not seen as the all-important ones.
i have been in a world of pain this weekend.. some of you know the ongoing battle i have had with my ex wife, an uber dub hypocrite, over seeing my kids more.
3 weeks ago i managed to secure an agreement from her that provided my 13 yr old daughter friday night to sunday afternoons and for my 16 yr old son to have friday night to sat afternoon with the option to extend it to sunday if he so desires.
this is each second weekend.. first due weekend visit she rearranged the days so that she was technically pre agreement start date.
I hope you did all this in such a way as to not villify their mom. You won't win that one. She is their mother.....as a mother I can tell you about fierce love.
These kids are being torn apart. They probably feel like pawns in some chess strategy. Go here....move there.
Perhaps you could write a letter (a nice one) to your wife telling her you want to cooperate. Ask her not to do this to your weekends. But bear in mind that someday you may have an emergency or an important event and wish for her to bend or change dates.
Never burn your bridges behind you.
