Welcome.
Isn't it nice to actually get to know other people without automatically assuming that they are going to die at Armageddon, and you must immediately preach to them?
well, as i mentioned before in one of my few other posts, i've been lurking here for some time now and finally decided it was time to face the facts and take action.. i was raised a jw (4th generation) and my parents were quite zealous when they got married.
mom was a regular pioneer and dad was a ms. i was the little jw 'rockstar' in my congregation, got baptized at 10, was giving talks and serving as an attendant at the hall and at conventions at such an early age.
auxiliary pioneered whenever i could.
Welcome.

Maybe she will pronounce her name TaMOOOOOra now. (a little humor...very little I'm afraid)
Don't they raise cattle at WT farm? Maybe they can start a business with the blood after slaughter making into "synthetic" blood!
i had this experience with a family member, lets say you say something against the witnesses doctronic and they dont say anything back, you ask them why are you not replying and they say "well you dont believe in us anymore".. what should i say back, something that wont offend them but goes straight to the point, you see they dont want to use their brains, they just want to listen at their halls about the end and apostates and how special they are and how false the rest of the world is and how they are the only true religion that follow the commandment to preach.
but it does not matter what i say, doesn't matter how big it is it seems to have the reverse effect, it was alot easier before but now a conversation comes which they dont like they shun my conversation, yet they show me love, they dont touch whats the big issue, the big problem which is communication, and they maybe expected me to wake up, go back to the hall like nothing ever happen, like preaching is only for people who like what they hear.
im babling on but you get the idea.. .
But it does not matter what I say,
Then you are the one getting frustrated.
The upside is that you said they show you love. Why not just "agree to disagree" and leave the topic alone? If you have family that doesn't shun, you are way ahead of many on this forum.
One poster said that the biggest way to get back at JWs is by living a healthy, successful, full life without them, and it is so true.
What they expect is for us to crawl into a corner and have no life without them.

Remember when they used to say that taking blood you would/could take on the personality of the individual?(or was that transplants?) Anyway, I still don't get how using animal blood is ok with them.
I'm with you, Carla.Anyway, blood is considered an organ...so analogous to a transplant.
I wonder if this woman is now in a field somewhere chewing on grass, or walking to the nearest barn asking to be milked?
ok, quick run down of my situation.. .
1. i am not religious.
my now-fiance was raised jw but left the religion about 10 years ago.. 2. we started dating last march, i got pregnant within two weeks.
Welcome to the forum.
How sad that you are in this situation. I am sure it seemed to you that he wanted nothing to do with the JWs when you met him. Now, again he does.
It will be a difficult road. Come Christmas, he won't be joining in with any celebration and may not allow a tree in the house if you are married. What about your baby's birthday? No party with his family involved. Your birthday? Same.
If you want your children from this man to get an education, the WT stance is that it is not necessary, and not advisable. The end is sooooo close, and has been for over over 100 years.
Does the congregation really like you? They are tolerant at best. If cornered, they would have to tell you that they know that you will be destroyed at Armageddon, along with your boyfriend and baby, as you are not JWs. (I am assuming he was never baptised, or he would be disfellowshipped for living with you.) Even the toleration will not last for him...they will expect him to become baptised and pressure him to do so.
And the wedding? It cannot be in the Kingdom Hall, and his family may not come if it is in a Church.
Please keep reading here about so many examples that others have had so that you will be more informed.
Have you ever heard the expression, "With friends like these, who needs enemies?" Well, my husband and I feel a bit lonely sometimes, too, but today we were talking about the enormous amount of time we took from each other going to meetings, out in service, etc.
We literally have gotten to know each other again. We have taken walks, gotten in touch with family members who were not JWs, etc., and just had time to really think and ponder.
It is hard, sometimes. Like the posters said, we were used to "instant friends." It takes some getting used to.
Hope it gets easier as time goes by.
i haven't been inside a kingdom hall in years.
i wasn't df'd or da'd, just faded away...so to speak.
but i haven't been totally free from the clutches of this organization because my husband is in it.
Welcome to the forum.Glad to have you!
Arizona is hot right now, I'll bet. We went through there on the way to California and it was 117 during the day. We stepped out of the car at a restaurant and it was like an oven.
Of course, Texas seems to be gaining on you this summer. It has been 100 degrees and over many days so far!
dear all,.
i'm new here and this is my first post.
i hope to introduce myself in order to gain more friends online.. to begin, i'm middleage and has just left wt with my family intact (praise god for that).
Welcome to the forum. So glad that your family is with you.
Are the members of your extended family that are not Christians happy that you are all no longer JWs?
talk to flipper this week and wish him and all those well who will be at the apostafest this weekend.
since most of us will not be there here is our opportunity to wish them all well and have lots of fun.
totally add.
Wish I could go camping..ah, the great outdoors...blue sky, hot dogs...have a great time!
the older i get, the more i see that the collective intelligence of people isn't too high.
i lump myself in on that.. when i first left, i was so conflicted.
do i try to help others by bringing down the wtbts?
Wow, TMS, you and your wife are making a good recovery! Seems you just needed to find out where you were needed most.
At least no more time will be "wasted." You're on to bigger and better things.
