How do you overcome this?
Little bit by little bit.
In my own case I can just say that it is taking time...I have been "out" five years...was "in" more than thirty. I let them have more than thirty years of my life. Oh, yes, feelings of bitterness. But I also knew that I didn't want them to have any more of my life.
I decided to get busy in college...so at 58 I am going gung-ho for a degree in History and am enjoying learning immensely.
I also signed up for a massage a month to try to have more peaceful feelings!
My family got a Christmas tree with all the trimmings...music, decorations, and made our own wreath for the front door.
Traveled to Colorado and went white-water rafting with my family....great fun and beautiful scenery.
Find humor where I can in some of the people I knew or things I did as a Jdub.
In short-live what life I have left doing things that I enjoy.
You can do it too....little by little.
And do not dispair when those bitter feelings creep up....just know that with time they will have less of an impact.

Watchtower says GENERATION is NOT the Anointed!
by UnDisfellowshipped incompare these two "generation" quotes from the watchtower -- which one is correct?
how did god's "channel of communication" make an error this big?.
the watchtower, november 1st, 1995, pages 30-31:.

Pre 1995 Generation- Annointed followers alive in 1914
1995 Generation- Wicked non-believers
2010 Generation- Annointed followers who whose lives overlap the Annointed followers alive in 1914
This can't possibly be construed as coming from Holy Spirit as "new light" that gets brighter and always "builds on itself"...it has become ludicrous...

All about Shelby
by watersprout ini wanted to post this thread about shelby.. she get's a lot of grief by what she posts on this site, so i thought i would start a post on how shelby has helped ones that have left the borg.. i can't begin to explain how shelby has helped me, i felt like i was in a hole and she gave me answers to the many questions i had.
no matter how many emails i bombarded her with, she always took the time to answer.
yes there has been times when i haven't liked what she posted, but i asked christ to help me understand and he did...... shelby helped me to open my mind and come to the realisation that the borg can no longer stop me from becoming the beautiful person i was destined to become.. i think i speak for many when i say thank you shelby!!!!.

If this thread is all about Shelby, I have a question, "Who is Shelby?"

A, uh, belated introduction
by SweetBabyCheezits inquick bio: born-in, third gen jw, devout family, dad an elder/po, mom pioneered off/on, baptized at age 10 (my elder dad asked me to wait but i didnt), had overall good childhood, toured bethel, aux pio off/on, finished hs early, reg pio for a year then pio school, met amazing jw girl (also third gen devout), spent a year in community college (paid for by fairly conservative jw parents), got a good job, married amazing jw girl, appointed as ms, delivered public talks and parts on ca/dc, wife and i had first child.
it was a near-storybook jw life (except no bethel).
i had a couple of normal issues in teenage years, but sought the assistance from the elders and ironed it out.

Welcome, and thanks for your story.
I am so glad to hear that you and your wife are together in your jouney out. It sounds like your parents do not actively shun you. That is more than a lot of people on this forum can say.
Just be kind to them, and have patience. Both of my parents are dead now...time goes so fast, just love them while you can. Be a good son, and see if you can't just agree to disagree. All too soon, you will look back on the time you spent with them. Make some good memories if you can.

hated guilt-tripping expressions
by nancy drew ini always hated when some idiot got up on stage & said "we all have the same amount of hours in the day" than pull a pioneer out of his hat who is a single mother w/kids who works & has a debiliting medical issue.
all designed to make everyone feel like somehow they're playing around & wasting time.
at the dc's or assemblies i also hated when for experiences they would drag up some 90 yr old pio in a wheelchair & some "brother" who works part time but somehow supports a family of 6 and their all pio's.. my thoughts were "what idiot thought this stuff would be encouraging" .

I remember a youngish woman from a nearby Khall years ago.
She had six children-some still really young- but was a regular pioneer. She did not have anywhere near a stylish look, rather a bit ragged around the edges. Even at the time I remember thinking that she should be at home, cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes for her family, and supervising homework for all these children.

finally read Crisis of Conscience
by A.Fenderson ini recently finished reading crisis of conscience.
in short, it was one of the most important books i've ever read, even considering that i left the kh 13 years ago.
i honestly cannot see how anyone could read it and still maintain that they believe in the wts religion--have any of you ever known someone to read it and actually still believe and be happy with the jw religion?

Quandry, please read it. Another recent contact, had his library order it and was reading it in last contact. You have been on this site plenty long now to not have any qualms about reading it. You probably have heard enough pieces of Ray Franz writings, but the book just ties it all together.
No, no qualms about reading it. I have gone back to school, in addition to working full time. I just finished an intensive course of Abnormal Psychology. I am getting a degree........long overdue.......in History. All my attention at the moment has to be geared toward that goal.
When I left the WTS, I felt worthless and stupid. I am doing something about the stupid.

Welcome.
Many WT magazines over the years have stated that Jehovah hates a divorce. This is so even when one is married to an apostate. She should be reminded of this. She does not have grounds if you agree not to discuss religion. You are not a spiritual danger if you keep your thoughts to yourself, as hard as this may prove to be.
I am so sorry to hear that this is happening to you. You'd like to feel that you are close enough to discuss anything in your heart with your wife, and I am sure that it hurts that you can't.
However, patience is called for. Try to calm everything down for awhile. Read alot of the posts on this forum. Some have, through kindness and patience, been able to help family members out of the org.
In the meantime, fix dinner, rub her back, help with the cleaning, and tell her you love her.
Don't let them take your family. Fight for them.
Hope the best for you.

You know, I haven't read it. I've been "out" five years now. All the comments about it make me really want to read it.

Australian brothers VERY negative comments regarding new "generations" ... some leaving Bethel..will this blow up in the Watchtowers face?
by Witness 007 ina brother i spoke with from bethel to me seemed discouraged and lacking zeal latley...he spoke of leaving which shocked me since he was there for decades...he left to get a full time job!!!
it was his whole reason for living since i've known him!
others have said the new doctrine of "blended generations" of anionted seeing armagedon is "confusing" or "i just don't get it"...one brother my only close friend is furious and said i qoute..."they seem to be blowing smoke up our ass!
