  when i am having a conversation with a family member who is a jw about the jw's and how i wasted the best years of my life following a cult, they come back with .

  "yes but being a jw saved you from std's, drugs..." and all the usual stuff jw's are supposed to be protected from.

  it seems to me that jw's think that they are the only people in the world who do the right thing and anyone else is up to their neck in crap, doing drugs and other unsplendid things and being a jw 'saved' me from these things as i am bound to have done them if i hadn't have been one.

  It is a common JW belief that if you don't put the kingdom first you won't be able to find a job.

  Now that I am out of he borg I have all the work I need.

  My life is much more relaxed and I have more time for my hobbies. My emotions are no longer strained to the breaking point. I don't have to face those pointless arguments at the door anymore or give vain talks about stuff thats been said a million times before.

  The JW don't have much time for themselves because of the 5 meetings a week schedule they have. Imagine that at least 48 hours each week in the average JW life are consumed by the masters of mind control.

  This waste of time erodes into the normal welfare of family life or single life. That is why the divorce rate for JW is higher than for non JW.

  aid to bible understanding shows that the word apostasy comes from a greek word that literally means a standing away from but has the sense of desertion, abandonment or rebellion.

  Is that right, well, the WTS really put there foot in that one. I always thought apostates were actively teaching doctrine that does not agree with WTS doctrine. I guess the bible students that left in the great exodus of 1925-1927 (about 70 thousand of them) were all apostates!!. No Rutherford was THE apostate and a false prophet because he lied about 1925. Imagine the flagrant attitude of the WTS to brand all those who left the borg as apostates. Now THAT is apostate!!

  Why the Watchtower Society Interprets Genesis Non-Literally

  a literal interpretation of this passage shows that the author of the passage viewed the earth as the center of the universe, with the sun and moon going around it.

  just why does the watchtower society view passages such as in joshua 10:12-14 as not literal?

  the creation account in genesis and exodus.

  Here is another twist to this. Maybe God used the theory of special relativity to put the earth into a time warp where time itself ran much slower than usual. So Joshua would have felt that the sun was standing still when in fact it was the earth's time frame that had slowed down. This would have avoided the messy reality of actually stoppiing the solar system.

  preached throughout the whole earth ???

  how far has their preaching gone exactly, how much "earth" is left to cover, they keep claiming here in the uk that they haven't "invaded china yet" but i know differently.

  if they have covered the earth how long has it been ??.

  anyone who has a little of knowledge of this i would appreciate how many years they have been preaching worldwide "literally".

  JW at the door...thanks for the tips...

  this morning we had a fleet of jw in the neighborhood and they came a knockin...my husband answered the door, (as they would have recognized me..he is "wordly").

  we used some of the tips off of the "how to get rid of a jw thread" he kept asking them if they were with the jehovahs and if they were a jehovah, they kept correcting him bless their souls and he kept doing it.

  then, when they tried to place the mags he said, "first can i get your address?

  Now I can understand why some of the people who answered the door (yes I was guilty of flogging the mags too) were mad at me. Hehehehe - memories ... those sweet memories.

  Actually that is a very good - "what is YOUR address" . I bet that makes the dubs cringe and want to make a hurried escape the nearest Tim Hortons. Not only that, the witnesses were not alowed to preach about armagedon thus sparing the life of the householder.

  Here is another thing one can do with witnessess at the door. Since they are on your property you have the right to give the witnessess apostate literature. When they refuse your literature, just say that you cannot accept the watchtower mags because you consider them apostate literature. The witnesses should make a hasty retreat after that As they leave your doorstep say the governing body are apostate too, that should make them run.

  i have the "a time to speak--when?

  " article from 1987 but was looking for more concise and direct statements in wt literature.

  interesting quote (i think) from watchtower 1952 june 1st page 347. .

  the society appear to tackle head on a flaw in their preaching.

  however, they put forward the scenario which i agree with but their answer is sadly unconvincing.

  I never knew the 1952 WT said that WOW!!. This provides concrete proof of the WTS doctrine that ALL people that hear a JW preach but don't become JWs themselves will de destroyed at armaggedon!!

  WTS Running Out of Money? Letter to all congregations...

  se said it was long and boaring, but in the end there where a few points she remembered.
