I sat in a judicial committee and looked at a folder with paper stacked about an inch thick of what I was told was printouts of my activity here.

As Paul points out, preserving the marriage will be to the spiritual benefit of any children. In a practical way, also, it may be to the material benefit of the believing parent and children. Still, in the event that abuse becomes unbearable, or life itself is endangered, the believing mate may choose to "depart." But the endeavor should be to "make up again" in due course.
Yes, continue to subject your children to an abusive environment for their "spiritual benefit"...and the cash.
The Watchtower study for April 1: are the "fools" the old men who write this or the women who believe it??

JWs claim disfellowshipping is biblical!
by greendawn inregarding disfellowshipping the jws claim it is a policy necessary to keep their organisation spiritually and morally clean so that they won't lose the grace of the holy spirit and run further risks with dangerous influences.
they even say if the disfellowshipped want they can always repent and will be gladly reaccepted into communion with jw brotherhood so it's up to them to remove any anguishing shunning.
though this may appear to be a reasonable belief it is not quite as straight forward as it seems.

Not really all that unusual, most clubs, jobs and even a few religions will kick people out (fire them) if they do not follow the rules.
That is not equivalent to shunning. Let's keep that clear.

And what about reinstatement?
There is NO scriptural backing for the JW policy of reinstatement, making a Dfed person attend meetings for about a year without any social interaction, writing a letter, etc.
Let's play "Find the Scripture" shall we?
Organized to Do Jehovah’s Will, page 157
REINSTATEMENT
A disfellowshipped person may be reinstated when he gives clear evidence of repentance, demonstrating over a reasonable period of time that he has abandoned his sinful course and is desirous of having a good relationship with Jehovah and His organization. The elders are careful to allow sufficient time, perhaps many months, a year, or even longer, for the disfellowshipped person to prove that his repentance is genuine. When the body of elders receives a written plea for reinstatement, the judicial committee that disfellowshipped the person should, if possible, be the committee that speaks with the individual. The committee will evaluate the evidence of works of godly repentance on his part and decide whether to reinstate him at that time or not.
If the person requesting reinstatement was disfellowshipped by another congregation, a local judicial committee may meet with the person and consider the plea. Thereafter, the local judicial committee will communicate with the body of elders of the congregation that disfellowshipped the individual, giving them its recommendation. The involved committees will work together in unity to ensure that all the facts are gathered and a just decision is made. However, the decision to reinstate is made by the original judicial committee of the congregation that took the disfellowshipping action. If some members of the original committee are no longer in the congregation or qualified to serve, other elders from the original congregation can be chosen to replace them.
When the judicial committee is convinced that the disfellowshipped person is genuinely repentant and should be reinstated, an announcement of the reinstatement is made in the congregation where the individual was disfellowshipped. If the person is now in another congregation, the announcement will be made there as well. It should simply state: "[Name of person] is reinstated as one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
Nae, no scripture.

What's the difference between humans and animals if there is no God
by JH inif there is no god, does this make us the most intelligent animal?.
-
V
If you look at the DNA, NOT MUCH! Humans share 97% of their DNA with chimps.
Animals use tools, communicate using sounds and have community rules.
Some humans HAVE to invent God just to keep their ego inflated. Hope you feel better...

The Atheist's Wager
by nvrgnbk inthe following is the athiest's wager, given in response to pascal's wager( a flawed appeal to inspire worship):.
you should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in god.
if there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind.

More information here: Atheist's Wager
Pascal's Wager is a bit disingenuous because it's 'literally hedging your bet with God'. It is a dodgy god that would accept faith on such a premise.
As "God", wouldn't it be more touching to see humans live a peaceful and loving life for no other motivation?
Followers who react based on fear and reward are not fundamentally sincere--that would be Pavlov's wager.

April 15 WT: Society acknowledges some find its teachings hard to accept
by truthseeker inthe april 15, 2007 watchtower revolves around the congregation, it's benefits and requirements.. the second study article is let the congregation be built up.
under the subheading sticking with the congregation the society acknowledges those who cannot accept a certain teaching even after doing research in their publications.. .
para 14 consider another possibility involving the congregation.

I love this article!!
By making these statements the Society has put themselves in the same group with every other religion.
"Can't believe what we say? Don't leave because we are the only true religion"
So all the JWs who left Catholic, Baptist and other faiths because of hellfire and other unexplainable beliefs are now back at square one. Congratulations!
