One of the key ways to tell if it is a cult or toxic high control group....
by stuckinarut2 inmy wife and i were discussing a sure sign of a cult:.
when one knows more about the society / organization after leaving!.
lets face it, most of us here on this forum, and ex-witnesses in general know more facts about the history, background, practices, current procedures, scandals, etc than the average "still-in witness"!

What would be most likely...
by The freewheeling inwhat statement to the elders would get you disfelloshipped fastest?
saying.... a) that you don't believe in god anymore.
or saying ... b) that you don't believe that the governing body is god's canal and mouthpiece anymore.. what opinion is most serious in there eyes?

Hello Eddie, For a start you can remove the 'bow tie'.
I had to stop using one when I was attending a UK congregation, not allowed, never found out why.
Best of luck with your romantic intentions.

the brother/organization lied about how old they are.
he said oldest tree is 4200 years old when it is actually 5000 years old.

"The longest-lived is the Great Basin bristlecone pine, Pinus longaeva. One individual of this species, dubbed "Methuselah", is one of the world's oldest living organisms at around 4,600 years old. This tree can be found in the White Mountains of California."
"An older tree, now cut down, was dated at 4,900 years old."

Are JWs "mind trained" to be habitual liars?
by nonjwspouse ini don't mean overly obvious, or otherwise meaning to cause harm, but taught to lie for the purpose of avoidance.
this type of lying can be pervasive in areas of life that are not just to avoid discussions with people who have questions about the jw, etc.
my husband will lie/be deceitful about the silliest, simple things.

Are JWs "mind trained" to be habitual liars?
YES, definitely.
They were a fairly reasonable bunch until 1975 didn't happen.
Since then they have slowly changed into a lying bunch of B******S.
I now believe elders etc. are trained at their so called schools to - lie, lie and lie about everything that doesn't suit them at the moment.

How do I quote on this site?
by Nevuela inevery time i've asked this in an existing thread, i've never gotten an answer, so forgive me for starting a new thread in order to ask again.
i simply cannot figure out how to quote someone with the standard yellow box.
i can copy/paste the quote, sure, but nothing i do makes it appear in a yellow box like everyone else.

Using the above instructions:-
I've tried the Quote icon and the Paragraph icon and the Link icon and the Code icon, both before and after pasting the quote in the comment box. I've highlighted the quote while doing so, and not highlighted it. I've done everything I can think of. What am I doing wrong?
I'm 84 and I can do it!
