who looks after the welfare of ageing witness parents who have disfellowshipped children?

are these df'd children (actually, some of these df'd children are in their 60's) meant to ignore being ignored and then care physically for their non speaking parents?

also, can df'ing your own children lead to witness parents suffering illness or even death as a result?.

Yikes. Been reading through here. I have only 2 things to say:

1) It is very unfortunate that there is this disension (sp?) at a very happy time. I hope people will work out their differences and pursue common ground, even if they take different routes to get there.

2) Fortunately, the end of the WTS does not depend on any one person. The internet will kill the WTS and there is no turning back from that.

I don't know, Kelsey. I think you're being a little hard and unreasonable.

When I read that JR Brown said they had just sent a letter out to all the congregations about their right to call the police (however twisted that may have become in WT hands), I thought, Bill, you did it!

You have already MADE them make some changes. You've forced it and we all helped.

It's not the end, but it is a VERY CLEAR beginning.

my dumb boring JW experience

i gave a very brief version of my wt experience when i was a newbie here, but i thought i'd share the details a little more now that i've gained some distance and feel that i can post more objectively about it.

i was born in november of 1970. i grew up in a dysfunctional family (like everybody).

my mother was particularly controlling, she was extremely insecure and therefore expected perfection from her children, lest they reflect badly on her and cause her to doubt herself.

While we're on the topic, HOW does it happen that a mother will give her child over to the blood issue or send a son to prison for the WTS?

Doesn't something 'kick in' at some point?

Or is it just not there to begin with?

Was it just never there? Just no maternal instincts to begin with?

I've often wondered, having had the misfortune of being 'raised in it', HOW people get suckered into it by their own choice.

That was really great. Just curious, how old are you now? And what was the age difference at the time between you and Sheila?

If you'd really enjoy a self-awareness adventure (that is very positive and not heavy-handed or superficially critical at all), take a look at the "New Personality Self-Portrait; Why You Think, Work, Love and Act the Way You Do" by Oldham.

You can read more about it on Amazon.

It's a very cool book and, having been through so much nothing, it might give you a useful insight into your strengths and various other qualities that might help you create something better for yourself than what you've had so far.

Thanks again for sharing your story. It was really, really great to read.

Ted Jaracz - the accused

This reminds me of another woman I knew long, long ago - Julie - who was perhaps psychotic (that does not mean 'lying') and suffering from repeated suicide attempts. At the ER, they knew her by name as soon as she walked in.

She complained of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of her JW father and others.

I just took it all in at the time. I'd forgotten about it, until now.

Could it be they purposefully induced disassociation? For sport?

Personally, I don't think it's really that hard to do, if you're that kind of evil, horrible, monster.

Lighten up, guys.

First off, I heard some media were there. Does anyone know who they were? That would help. Be patient. Perhaps Bill and others are at work.

But if you know WHO was there, ask them. 'Are you covering this? Can we expect something?, etc.'

POSSIBLY, this one was a learning experience and nothing more (tho I kind of doubt that. Bill has made LOTS of friends in the media. I would bet that something's brewing.)

In any event, don't bury youselves in the persecuted, 'nobody cares' philisophy of JWs.

But, please do recognize that if you're going around saying that 'everyone but JWs' is Satanic, it's a little hard to get 'everyone but JWs' to go to bat for you.

It would really help if you made some effort to distance yourself from this proclamation before you start seeking the assistance of 'everyone but JWs'.

Don't sweat it. I think they understand.

I also wanted to know, was there any effort to involve, educate, or stir up the crowd? The anonymous onlookers or people you passed on the street?

Did you have any flyers or anything to share with them? Did you speak to them at all? Did you CARE about them or suggest what they might do or why they might be concerned?

Or was it all between the SL and the WTS?

If so, that makes it a little hard if the WTS is choosing to feign oblivion to your concerns.

What would there be for a reporter to report? He writes for the crowd, for the world, the town, the PEOPLE, the nation.

What in your protest would interest them? To want to read it?

Don't get up on the 'all about money and power' thing.

Take a good look at this whole thing and learn whatever can be learned from it.

But, in the meantime, be patient.

LOTS of people care about this. If you haven't quite figured out yet how to turn this into press, be patient. You will learn.

In ANY, any event, be patient. It's only Sunday.

There may be more on the way. Give it a chance.

Amazon.com a Pedophile's Paradise ???

this is what was found on amazon.com they sell this book freely and just read the ill reviews!!!!

this book openly invites pedophiles!

boycott amazon and make them take responsiblity for offering this book for sale.

I thought Amazon had already agreed, a couple of years ago, that it was NOT going to sell pornography.

I haven't seen the book, but since the activity described would be considered illegal in every state in the U.S., I would be hard-pressed to understand how this is not covered under the promise that they made.

I would suggest talking to the FBI and others legally concerned about sexual crimes against children.

I understand the free-speech thing and yes, I agree with it (because I have to).

Still, the sale of other types of material (like promoting 'hate crimes' or racial hatred) has been stopped (just try to find a copy of "Civil War II, The Coming Break-Up of America" - you can barely find it outside of a Militia site).

All I'm saying is that, free speech aside, it can be stopped.

It doesn't mean no one can ever get it. They can if they really want to.

They just shouldn't be able to get it from a place that is a 'cornerstone of civil rights and civilization', as both Amazon and Barnes and Nobel are, in my opinion.

Go get 'em, boys (and girls).
