  One question that would make you think....

  no jw's have been to my door for years because they all know where i live - my mom drives by with her "car group" and points out our house, even stops to use the potty or get a pop.

  silly - i know, but mom doesn't seem to care about the shunning thing (thank goodness).. anyways - hubby and i have bought a new house and will be moving out of this congregation's area soon.

  it's a brand new house in a new area so i'm sure it'll get worked fairly quickly (new blood on the block).

  okay...how 'bout this?

  If you were really struggling with something personal, is there anyone in the congregation that you could confide in without feeling that they would be obligated to share it with church authorities?

  What about if you had doubts or questions about some WT teaching? Is there any JW you could talk to without risking everything if you don't agree?

  How come you don't tell people at the door that if they join, they will lose their family? And if they ever quit they will lose all their family and friends? Don't you think it would be fair for them to know before they get involved too much?

  Where Does the $$ Come From??

  many, many people have lengthy recollections of getting nowhere in field service.. no bible studies, not much placement of magazines or books, especially not for significant cash.. so where is the wts getting all their money from?.

  i've been wondering..... are (and were) dubs expected to purchase a certain amount of materials every month and then just take on the responsibility of getting rid of it (and getting back their money) themselves?.

  if so, you know what that would mean.... it would mean that the wts's millions mostly come from their own 'flock'.

  Do you recall the contribution box being empty or did you give $ to it?

  Okay, so let's suppose a ballpark figure of 1 dozen literature purchases per month (not counting books, of course).

  1 dozen, divided by 4 (because they're a quarter each) equals $3 per publisher per month.

  $3 dollars per JW per month, times 6 million....

  Are they really raking in $18 million a month, all in nickels and dimes?

  Why does this seem SO VERY LIKELY TO BE EXACTLY RIGHT?

  Door to door work really being done?

  obviously the witnesses are going door to door, but is it as effective as could be?

  in all my years as an adult, only once has any witness come to the door preaching "the good news.

  " this is once in over 15 years.

  Abusive JW Elder to be released from jail...

  ...in 6 months for good behavior.. this man, james barratt of rugby england was put in prision last summer for molesting boys, including one of my relatives.

  the fact that he is only going to spend a year in jail sickens me.

  not being familiar with the british court system, i need to ask the board: is there a parole hearing like in the us?

  Blondie (boy, you're a real wealth of information, aren't you?!)

  How many magazines does the average dub buy per - month (? Isn't there usually a monthly sale when the new issue comes out or do they all buy them weekly or...at every meeting?)
