Did you have the perfect JW family?

just wondering... how many of us had the perfect jw family?.

by that i mean, never in trouble with the elders, no loss of restrictions, no disphellowshippings, disassociatings, fadings, reproof - public or private.. of course most of us fit one of these categories.

what about any other families in your congregations?

My family seemed like a perfect family also, my dad was an elder and my mom a regular pioneer. But it wasnt all roses like everyone thought, I was molested by an uncle at the age of 4 or 5. I am 42 now and it only came to light about the molesting a year ago, my husband blerted it out to my dad that his brother molested me and my dad took it to the elders even though this uncle of mine was his closest brother. The elders told him that I couldnt take this to the law because it was so long ago but that he could never be an elder again. They then told me to keep it quite and not let the cong. know about this and not to let it show that he was caught. They said that they couldnt do anything to him except take his privleges away (being an elder) because he wasnt baptised yet and was only 16 at the time! So he couldnt be held accountable!!

I finally saw what they really are and left and havent looked back!

ok, i"ve been injecting this stuff for a few days, (4) and my fasting b. sugar has come down to about 186 from 389.... that's a start.

i still haven't been to the gym, i still feel crappy.

i have altered my diet and know that something good is happening to my body.

Yes I have the same kind of side affects. I try to eat right after I take it that way I dont seem to feel as sick. You also have to watch what you eat, foods that are greasy seem to cause me to feel sicker after I use the pen. Are you on the 5 or the 10? I took the 5 for the first month and then started on the 10 which seems to make my stomach even more sinsitive.

Hope all goes well for you on it, because it does really help.

I noticed several months ago that our local KH doesn't have the name on it

i noticed that the local kh in my little town doesn't have any kind of name on it anymore even though they have no plans of rebuilding or moving?

all the windows have been bricked in and no mail box either.

Getting Hitched

i just want to share this with you all.. a few weeks ago, trev (dedpoet) popped the question, and of course i accepted, so we are getting married!!

we have been busy getting things started since then, hence the slight delay in posting our news.

we aren't in a particular hurry, as we have no desire to have children.

Why Friday for a DC?

i've been wondering why the gb chose to include a weekday for the district conventions.

is it to test how loyal the members will be if they have to choose between their religion and work?

At what point did the WTS become overly controlling?

i used to hear about good `ol days when people were happy dubs.

people had fun, did things together and it seems by the tone of the converstaions that there was less control over every tiny detail of the brothers lives.. i remember the 1st time someone told me as an unbaptised publisher that i would eventually be 'counceled' for not wearing a suit.

i was utterly stunned!

I grew up in the 70's and we had lots of fun!! we had costume parties and get togethers all the time. Us teenagers would go and play baseball on sunday afternoon's after service or go out of town to a small canyon and go horseback riding (always after service of course!!) rollerskateing and so much more.

We even one year went every Saturday night to a different witness house all the teenagers did and we would study our watchtower for the next morning and then afterward we would visit and have snacks, good way to get to check out the other single people from other KH's.

Those were the good old days before the WTS became like Hitler!!

Divorce for emotional abuse?

because of a recent family situation (always a good time!

), i've been in a debate with a jw relative about whether the society permits divorce (without remarriage) where there is emotional abuse.

this relative swears the literature has said that a person can leave her spouse where there is emotional abuse, but that she cannot remarry.

I can speak on this matter personally, it happened to me 2yrs ago. My husband was extremely emotionally abusive to me and the kids for 21yrs and I went to the elders and told them. They asked me all sorts of questions and tried to convince me to stay and I told them no I wouldnt that I had had enough and had been warning him for the past 3yrs before then that I was going to divorce him (he has been inactive for all of our married life)

They told me that I had to tell him before the divorce was filed in the courts because if I didnt then it would make him scriptually free and I wouldnt be. So I filed late on a tuesday afternoon where they couldnt file till Wed. and I told him that tues. night.

I then had to write a letter to the congergation with all the details about why I was leaving him, and they keep the letter on file. Since I did it their way we divorced and neither of us were scriptually free. Didnt stop me from dating though! Met some really wonderful worldly men and made some really good friends.

I did remarry him and told him that I wouldnt even think twice about leaving him if he ever pulled the kind of sh*t again, it all made me such a stronger person and I dont take anything off of him anymore, instead of me its him that has to walk on egg shells around me so as not to tick me off where I would leave him again.

It really did straighten him up soooo much, he knows now that he better never screw up with me again. I am truely a free woman, I tell him like it is and dont take it from anyone anymore. And as this all went on I just quite going to the meetings all together along with my kids and we havent looked back.

He still believes and gets mad when he finds me on this web site but I tell him that he just needs to open his eyes to the real truth.

Making real friends

i have been away from the meetings for about a year now.

i recently attended a funeral and the witnesses mostly avoided me even though i am not disfellowshipped.

my problem is i need to replace my old friends because they look at me with such suspicion now.. i never had trouble making friends before i was a witness,but that was 30 years ago.

JW I know exactly how you feel, my husband doesnt go anymore to the meetings but still believes and I dont anymore and he knows it. I found that if you work its a great place to start making friends where before you felt you couldnt because they were worldly. Go out and join some kind of group be it a reading club or craft club, go back and take some classes and meet the ones there. The thing is to get out and join into something so that you dont stay at home and become lonely.
