Did you know anyone who commited suicide in the org?

back in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.

his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.

he was always controlled by his father.

I know someone who attempted to commit suicide. She was pioneer who was screwing an Elder. They had been doing this for months. She finally wants to confess. He tells her not to because he will be removed from being an Elder (great excuse). He pressures her so much that she finally tries to kill herself. She tells people at work that she is going to kill hersef that night. No one believes her until she dosen't show up for work the next day. They find her passed out in her living room. And what do the loving brothers do when all this finally comes out. They DF her as if she doesn't have enough to deal with already. They also DF the elder.

How much do you tip and why?

i am a waitress at a pizzeria/italian restaurant.

overall i get really good tips but sometimes it seems like the customers are going to tip a certain amount no matter what i do.

i can totally screw up a table and still get a great tip and other tables i give perfect service to and get a lousy tip.

I usually tip 20 to 25 per cent. Even if the service is bad I still leave a decent tip. I can't just not tip. I have no idea what that person has gone through before they got to me. I like to give people the benifit of the doubt. Just call me soft!!!

what groups do you listen to?.

do you just listen to music from your generation only or do you also like music from the past?.

I start off with a large helping of R&B (new and classic) add a large helping of Classic Rock. Throw in a small dose of Hip Hop and top it off with some music from the 70"s for dessert and my meal is complete.

How may Computers do you post from ?

i'm curious.

i have access to 2 computers on a regular basis.

i usually post from work, but i occasionally post from home (now).. by far and away, most of my posts are from work (when time permits), but i occasionally post from home, when i find the pc is not being used by cj or the kids.. do any of you use public access pcs, such as librarys, or internet cafes etc, or is most of your input from home or work ?.

Mon Wed and Fri I post from work. Tue I post from the libray. And on the weekends I post from home.

So I guess the answer is 3.

So, who sleeps in early, and who sleeps in late?(fluff)

i find that i can't sleep in late on the weekends.i'm up at 5:30 in the morning during the week and by the time the weekend comes around, if i can sleep till 7:30 i'm doing good.

even if i stay up till midnight i still get up around 8:00.the only way i sleep in late is if i've been drinking all night or i'm sick.. so how does everyone else do with thier sleeping habits?

And I thought I was the only one. I get up weekdays at 6am to get my daughter ready for school. And on the weekends I wake up at 6 no matter how hard I try to sleep in. If I make it unitl 7 thats really an accomplishment for me.

Now my wife can sleep until 9 or 10. I don't know how she does it.

Military Brat here to.... Father was in the Army. Killed in Viet Nam. Stepfather also in the army 30 years.

Why do I have to move 3000 miles away to get away from this religion?

That is the question. I am literally moving from the east coast to the west coast just so I can lose my religion. Is that nuts? Heres the deal.

Right now I live in NC. All my friends and family are Dubs and we have all been together in the truth for over 30 years. My wife also in the truth is from California. She hates the fact that I have stopped going to meetings and that I always nit pick the truth. Asking all kinds of questions and just plain old bad mouthing the brothers.

She wants to move back to Cali to be close to her family. Some are in the truth some are not. Her immediate family are all in active or just not going to the meetings. She wants to go home to "save her family." I think thats a great idea for us to up and move. And once I'm out of NC I'm all the way out of the truth. No more going to meetings just to satisfy people. Finally I can live my life the way I want to.

I told her as soon as I get to Cali I'm going to shave my head, pierce my ear and grow a beard. All the things I was never able to do.

Our depature date is July 1st and by the the 5th of July I WILL BE FREE.

Then maybe I can post my real name on the board.

How Many Here Are DF'd, Disassociated Or Not Worried That They Might?

i'm curious as to whether the majority of the board's disfellowshipped.

and i'm curious as to whether or not push came to shove, that you would not be overly distressed if you did wind up getting df'd........as time goes on, i am caring less.

Still doing that fade away thing. Stop going to the bookstudy and TMS and SM months ago. Haven't been in Service in about 4months. Just made the choice to stop going to Sunday meetings last week.

is it just me, or there others who have no room for religion in their lives?.

i appreciate that others are entitled to their beliefs and opinions concerning such beliefs, but i am amazed at the number of posters, who, after years of being oppressed and mislead by religion, still manage to garner some sense from the whole notion of god / religion / spirituality.. cheeses the cynic.

Great question. I was out of the truth for 12 years. Not once did I feel the need to go to church or serve God or believe in Jesus. I came back into the truth because of guilt and now that I'm trying to get out. ONce I do I don't feel the need to have religion in my life. It kinda scared me at first but I guess its not high on my priority list.

Thanks for the question. I thought I was the only one that felt this way.

how many of you, go to the occasional meeting?

i no longer believe any of the things i was raised to believe... but for some reason i still go to the occasional meeting and i even went to the special assembly last weekend (even though i got there after lunch).

i guess it will take a while to completely break away but i was wondering if anyone else is in this situation.

I still go to the Sunday meeting because I do enjoy the Public Talk. But having to sit through the Watchtower just about kills me. If it wasn't for the wife and kid I'd get up and leave.
