It almost sounds as if they are preparing everyone for a huge let down. According to other family members, my mom is worked up and sure that the end will be here this fall but no later than the end of the year. After 74 years of this you think she would have learned by now.
I guess the WBTS is getting them prepared for ringing in 2007 with the world still intact.

the witnesses are always trying to scare the faithful by telling them that if they don't adhere to the teachings and lifestyle of the brotherhood-----that bad things are going to happen to them.
for example, they might tell you of brother regret who left the "truth", had "fun" in the "world" and then got aids.
now he's back in the "truth" but he only has months to live................can you think of other examples of how the witnesses try to spook the rank and file?
I may be getting this wrong but I remember a watchtower quoting the Beetles song "Come Together"....was that the title?
Anyway I remember someone quoting the lyric "feel his disease" and stating this was an example of the last days and the corruption of society in general.
I was soooo young but remember my skin crawling hearing the comments.
Later, my father, an elder who was always into music he loved Dave Brubeck, and anything new. He bought a reel to reel which was huge back then.
My mother loved, Cat Stevens, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Gorden Lightfoot. I grew up with that supposed demonic music, but it was all well loved in my house and played almost everyday. (Elder for a father and very devout mom)....GO FIGURE!
This seems like fodder for a new topic....I'll start and let's see what happens!

Wind chimes and nightmares, (my mother was a big one on those 2), violent movies, porno, the internet, to name a few, but lets put it this way:
ANYTHING NEGATIVE in their lives was due to Satan and his demons. This included any kid's bad behavior, relatives, bosses, shop keepers, bad drivers, etc. etc. etc. etc......anything that tested their individual patience as human beings was considered testing by the demons.
Needless to say, the kids grew up in great fear of demon possesion, fear of old furniture and antiques, or anything bought at a garage sale.
My cousin is a pretty famous wood worker. He made a bedroom set for another cousin which started shrinking or expanding here in Florida after being shipped from the north making creaking sounds.....Of course he has been out for many years but the first thing mentioned was the noise the furniture was making was because it was demonized by the artist.
How sad, he was a gifted pianist who received a full scholarship which was denied him by his parents. He went to Bethel for one year and came out feeling BONKERS. Recovered, went to England and became a wood worker. He has created some of the most beautiful hand made bars for very famous restaurants in a very large city. His work has been written up by the city's own magazine. It is breathtaking.
Yet he is not taken seriously by most of the extended family.
His work is beyond belief.

i've never quite understood the big deal about men leaving the toilet seat up but since i hear so much about it i try to comply.
i do have a pet peeve.
sometimes when i lift the seat there are obvious signs on the underside that a female has used it and not bothered to 'tidy up'.

Your story was too funny about your boy! I shrieked with laughter! My own son when very young about 4 would get so busy outside, he just did not want to stop playing to go to the bathroom. One afternoon I opened the front door to get the mail. Low and behold there was a pile on the front sidewalk. I thought it was some dog. Nope, my son had run around front to relieve himself ....just having too much fun and didn't want to take the time to go inside.
If he knew I was relating this story, he would absolutely die! He is 22 now.

i wrote for the first time 5 months ago.
one of my sisters, a hoho, was married 27 years to an ms who has abused her mentally, emotionally, physically, and this was well-known to most everyone who knew them including family.
when she filed for divorce, i heard that our parents, other family and ex-friends yelled at and criticized her, and then the elders called her into a meeting and condemned her, i was furious.
Back in the mid 70's when I was df'd, my mom wrote the society which I believe was quite a lengthy letter in my defense and the ridiculous treatment by the elders of myself at age 16. It took them 3 months to respond and they "assigned" another 5 elders from another hall for a second opinion.
It was reversed by this second JC. In the mean time I rotted in hell for 3 months, dropped out of my last year in high school because I couldn't cope and probably went through what is now considered some kind of nerveous breakdown. I finally finished school through the local college, with only 2 classes left to complete and received my diploma on time. To this day my mother does not believe I finished highschool and almost seems to take pride IN BELIEVING that I did not received my diploma.
That scenerio has had an effect on me my entire life and after extensive counseling was able to get my head and heart wrapped around it.....up until my mother was informed to shun me at age 47 after I had left at age 17.

my son just informed me that his grandfather left him and his brother, (his only grandsons) , money for their education.. i had no idea, of the amount but it did make sense to me...a suposed $50,000.00 but the will was on a small personal computer and promptly erased by someone in my mom's kh at her request.. she has in the mean time shunned me, and low and behold sent $200,000.00 to the society.
this tires me beyond belief.. thanks for listneing....i am feeling crazy!.
To answer all the questions.
The computer is long gone, so unless my father printed it out there is no record. Even if he did print it out, my mom threw out all his papers. My son just told me last night the amount left for him and his brother for college. Of course they won't see any of it.

Nothing can be done, but I thank all of you for your sympathy. This has not been easy to swallow. Especially since I never was able to go beyond high school and my father was adament about it for his grandsons.
I am beyond angry, and feel very greatfull I have 2 beautiful Dobermans who adore our family who are perfectly willing to disect anyone who comes to our front door not introduced.

This was about 10 years ago. My father did not understand computers or hard drives or back ups. Just had my son help him write his will. My mom had it erased by a special MS 2 months after he died. ALL WAS GONE.....this was about the end of 1999.
