two contrasting examples recently crossed through our lives which showed the pathetic ?love?
that is in the kh towards sick members.
1) a brother in his early 50?s developed cancer, within two years he died.
I can remember a Sunday talk many years ago about the brothers in Africa delivered by a CO. They were starving, but they did not need food according to the talk, just spiritual food. This would be much better for their well being.
I was about 12 or 13 at the time and was furious.
To me, this attitude has prevailed throughout the years with the WBTS. They absolutely do not contribute to any in need. They feel the spiritual need is the most important, not the physical.
They can do the "quick builds" etc., but not take care of any physical needs.
Also, in my mom's congregation some people were here from South America. She donated much clothing and about $1000.00 to the couple to go to those in need in the area. She found out they spent the $1000.00 on airfare. Being a typical JW she let it go but was very upset.

i have been in the truth my whole life and tomorrow i turn 32!
the last year i have been fading and haven't been to the kh since the memorial.
i can't tell you how it has been such a heavy burden lifted off my shoulders not to have to worry about so many meetings!!!
For as long as I can remember, Tuesdays and Thursdays started with a dread feeling in my stomach. It took many, many years to unload it.
Several years ago, (and I won't go into the circumstances here) my mom talked me into going back to Sunday meetings. After working all week, all I wanted was to relax, but I knew Sunday morning was coming and that same sick feeling filled my stomach. So Friday night was my only mental free time.
Saturday was spent getting done what I needed to do, and dreading Sunday Morning.
Why would anyone want to spend their life this way?
How good does it feel? I AM FREE FOREVER! NO MORE DREADED DAYS!

i can't describe what i feel, when i see my mum as a jw.
sometimes (like today) it really gets me down knowing she and millions of others are living a life that is not going anywhere.. she's been to the british musuem, i've gotten e-mails from the british musuem.
we've read literature/websites/bible e.t.c.
Some devout JW's won't listen to a thing other than the verbage from the great GB, ie, Watchtower, ie, God.
How old is your mom and how long has she been in?
I think the best bet is to get on with your life, live it to the fullest, be happy, and take care of yourself. Love your mom just as much, and stay away from confrontation if you can.....most long time JW's don't take well to change. They will choose the religion over you if backed into a corner...they have nothing else to go on.
All the best to you.

way back one man was the presiding overseer of the congregation.
then in the ' 70s they started the arrangement of the body of elders w/one being the po.
during this time they started w/the practice of rotating the entire boe so that each member would be serving in a different capacity - theocratic ministry school overseer, field overseer, literature overseer, secretary, etc.
I remember the rotation thing like yesterday. We had a very strong German who ran things like a Nazi in our hall for many, many years. After his wife died, he married a very young attractive sister in the circuit. He was also very wealthy and lived in the finest condo in the city of Chciago after his second marriage and his shifting out as the PO.
At that assembly when it was announced, it was a huge change and my Father was made one of the Elders after that.
I think the reason for the change is the men got too damn big for their britches, and had too much power and influence, much like the
GB.
If they changed it back to one PO with no rotation I was not aware and it seems like a pretty stupid idea. Even our own Presidents are rotated out by term limits. It's the nature of the beast. Too much power, too much influence, etc.

After spending 2 years in the personal injury field and getting to look at the gruesome photos of people hurt by drunk drivers, I am all for the road blocks.
So many people do not understand the variations of their car insurance. You never know who is on the road and what they have been up to.
So here is the following, in case you don't understand your own policy.
It is common that those who drive drunk do it repeatedly, (until caught). They usually do not have enough insurance to cover some one they hit. That leaves the injured to fall back on their own car and health insurance. That is why you carry Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage....so that you are covered in case the party at fault does not carry enough insurance. (which is usually 10/20 (thousand) per accident.
When you "stack" your insurance that means if you hit someone, and hurt them, for every car insured, once one liability limit runs out, it jumps to the next policy.
Personal injury protection is the most important, take the no deductible and the highest coverage you can get. This is what an emergency room looks for first in car accident victims.
Some great companies: Geico is the most responsive to their own customers in my experience. Allstate backs their client but are terrible about paying out to the injured. State farm is slow with both their own insured and those hurt. Any other companies can be pistols about any accident and I have fought them all here in Florida. If you have a different experience with your company thats great.
Actually, I guess this could be another thread...didn't mean to hijack.
