Share Your Favorite Aphorisms
by Farkel ini'm a great fan of aphorisms.
zen has some of the classic ones.
the moral consequences of doing whatever you do is that you will be the sort of person who did that.. "it's best to ride the horse in the direction it's going.".

Here is a classic:
A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age.

by HappyGuy inokay, last night my wife is still on the road trying to get home, and she calls me and asks me to go to the store and buy her nephew a "coco nutty monkey" playdoh toy.
i have no idea what that is.
so, i go to toyz 'r us and i find it.. then i go next door to a clothing store to buy my wife a gift.. as i am coming out of the store a couple (black gangbanger types) are coming out of the store at the same time.

My son was given by his uncle a huge, complete set of drums by Ludwig from the 60's. It includes all the cymbals, stands, etc. Everything has the Ludwig name.
Demo,weatherking. Emperor Batter plus numbers.
Here is my question? Should this be stored in a safer place besides the hot garage? I tried looking on line but can't seem to get what I need.
If you have any suggestions, I really would appreciate it! (I'm dreading storage in the house, but will do it if needed)

Jackie, I'm so glad you have your father.
I still stand by what I posted, ...there was no humor, he was very worried as a 52 year old that his 25 year old wife might have trashed the car he had provided......, after he found out she was ok.
Thats the last thing I'll say on the subject.

Sooner 7, you survive a night in a snow storm, on a highway, in a car and see what kind of humor you come with....r
You can beat that metal to death,....it isn't the same.

Wry comment or not, I do not find being in a snow storm very funny.....
I can remember coming home from Wisconsin in the middle of a major storm. My dad was following the snow plows. They got stuck and we were behind them on an exit ramp. We covered ourselves in blankets for many hours, waiting for them to continue clearing the roads. As the skies cleared they were able to go on and so were we.
Absolutely nothing funny about it. I'm glad this man's wife was able to find shelter without getting hurt.

Christmas dinner, my boys don't like ham, We are turkey'd out any ideas?
by restrangled inon top of that one of my sons is bringing home a girl friend who is flying over from austria.. i'm thinking maybe lasagna.
i'm pretty good at that, but it doesn't seem real traditional.
the beef is so bad around these parts, i don't dare do a crown roast and besides that cost around $60.00.. what is your favorite dinner?.

I'd love to include beef, but here in Florida we have the worst of the worst. I have fed more beef to my dog than I care to think about after it's been cooked, marinated, etc.
We get the seconds of any fruit or veggies,...the best of everything is shipped out. We have no farms here raising cattle that I know of so we get the worst of that too in our grocery stores.
Everything we consume comes from Mexico, or out of state.....I mean everything has labels from elsewhere. I raise my own herbs, and bananas, depending on a 2 year climate.
All the best oranges, lemons, limes, etc. get shipped every where else, and then come back here at triple the price that they should be.
The whole thing is a joke.
I grew up in Chicago and always had access to the to the best beef, pork, and chicken. .......Not anymore.
