what would be "proof" of God's existance to someone?
by BlackSwan of Memphis inshort of god coming down herself to say "howdy y'all!
" what would it take to make you a believer in god?.
not necessarily the god of the bible or any religion in particular, just a supreme deity of some sort, call it ra, thor or chaos.

I posted some of this in another thread, .....
To me belief in god is some of what we experience every day.
A baby being born, and the sweetness of children.
The beauty of our pets and how they adore us and hold to their genetic backgrounds and love us no matter what.
If you are a gardener, the thrill of planting and producing beautiful tomatoes, vegetables and herbs. Here in Florida it is the thrill of cutting off a stalk of 50 bananas with absolutely no work, having orchids, and not paying any attention to them and being able to have the real thing in your home for 6 weeks and then taking them back outside.
It is the joy of having fresh lemons or limes. It is the joy of raising plants that grow taller than your home and having to get out a chainsaw to keep things in check.
It is the joy of having a 75 year old oak in your back yard filled with many birds, squirrels and possums that drive your pets nuts and the humour watching these animals torture each other.
It is the happiness in cooking for your family after they have all been away at school and at work ...so thrilled to come home to a meal.
The joy of music whether listening or creating it (and by the way a great stereo system)
The thrill of seeing the mountains and /or the ocean.
The beauty of gorgeous leaves in the fall, or the first bulbs coming up in the spring.
The comfort of a wonderful mate and knowledge that no matter what, you will always be there for each other and can drop into a comforable bed at night next to someone who truely loves you.
Perhaps this is too romantic for most, but is proof to me that some kind of god exists and gave this all to us!

Being taught with JW ethics, I would have no problem backing out of a wedding. Seriously, brides maids are just that ....Maids.....send her a great wedding gift.

Thanks all for sending these pics.
I was raised in the midwest and miss the Autumn most of all. We had such beautiful Oaks and Maples on our street. The cool crisp air always felt like new life after the summer along with the beautiful colors.
Now, here in florida for 18 years, I am fighting acorns and just brown leaves dropping into the pool for the next 4 months. No color change, just green to brown, and because we stay warm through the end of october... rot, and still growing grass.
Enjoy. I think of you now and am envious. I'll wait for February and then won't be.... as I will be planting my spring flowers.

What's the deal with beards????
by bittersweet inok, so my brother in law, a former elder, decided to grow a beard a while ago.
he initially grew it because he had a small rash he was trying to cover up, but that has since gone, and he has kept the beard.
he kept the beard because it made such a fuss that he decided if he shaved it off it would be like giving in to the brothers.

Take a look at the GB. Most have the mentality of the 1950's and haven't had to move on because they live in a protected time warped world no bigger than your entire home. They never leave, they don't read anything other than what they print, and probably don't watch any TV.
My dad as an elder had a gotee (spelling?) in the mid to late 70'[s. My husband was refused babtism in the early 70's because he had a beard among other things.
To this day I love his beard. To me, neatly trimmed facial hair enhances a man. God put it there for a reason.....It adds to masculinity. What do you think Adam shaved with? I don't remember Genesis saying anything about god creating scissors, a razor and a mirror to keep him decent.
More WBTS.... BS....Move over Pharisees, you have strong competition.
