This is fantastic news; thank you for posting this.
"It is difficult to see how the charter rights of the parents, which they say entitle them to determine the course of medical treatment for their children in this case, could trump the (section) 7 charter rights of the infants to receive medical treatment to prevent their serious personal injury or death," Chief Justice Brenner concluded in a judgment released Friday.
BRAVO!!

I Really, Really Want a Baby...
by cognac ini have since as far back as i can remember.
i don't really think the jw thing will be an issue anymore.... ok, so what do you think?.

Hi, Cognac. I understand the feeling; I too want children, but am having to put it off (apparently indefinitely) because of the JW thing (I am an UBM). It sounds like you've had a lot of turmoil and upheaval in your family life recently, so for that reason alone it might be wise to wait at least a little while until you're sure you're on sound footing. You do seem like a strong person, able to handle all your family crap as it comes with strength and grace, so that's a positive. Once a baby is on the scene, your primary role will be to protect that child at all costs. So be sure you're at a place where you feel strong and confident enough about your stamina to protect YOURSELF first. If you're around children a lot in general, then you already know that in addition to the "fun" parts, it is also a huge commitment and a huge amount of work that will change your life and your priorities forever.
How does your husband feel about having a child now? Also, didn't you mention in another post somewhere that you might be moving soon? (Sorry if I'm getting you mixed up with someone else.) That could be good or bad, depending on the distance and circumstances. As others have said, you will want and need support from family and/or friends nearby, but on the other hand, a little distance from toxic people would be a real blessing.
Best wishes to you. I wish I was to the point where I felt it was "safe" to have a child; if you're there, I'm really happy for you :-) -

JWDers Congratulate Raindog !!!
by yknot inraindog is in school right now and has been an excellent student....unfortunately his dad is an elder who is currently 'borgwashed'.. (story) http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/160240/1.ashx.
he was made the dean's list (again) and has been invited to join the honor society !.
so let's encourge this young man to keep moving forward in the face of this co outline!......

What's sad is that this young man is apparently getting no recognition or encouragement for his accomplishments at home.
Raindog, Dean's List and Honor Society are achievements to be proud of, you are obviously bright and motivated. CONGRATULATIONS, and keep up the excellent work! It will serve you and your future well :-) -

Violations of privacy re: postal mail by JWs
by Dogpatch ini have been sending out orders of books to jws, ex-jws and others for over 25 years.
sometimes plain wrap to keep the family's noses out of it.
over the years i have seen the same constant pattern: whenever the questioning jw lives with or near family members who are currently jws, they want to break open the mail to see what others are ordering!!

Wow, that is outrageous! If I may ask, how did things turn out with the "Roger" situation? Nosy Witness relatives is bad enough, but that is truly over the top.

The Illuminati and the Tornado
by hillary_step ini notice a very direspectful tone taken toward the masons and the illuminati on this board.
this is not wise:.

That's just what they WANT us to think. The alleged theft of this tornado technology is, in fact, a very clever and elaborate smokescreen. "They" still control the joystick, as they always have and always will. This is merely a diversionary tactic. The destruction will take its intended and destined course. The decimation of wooden structures is only the beginning. The blame for this ever-escalating swath of destruction will be shrewdly assigned and diverted; hence, two avians shall be annihilated with a single mineraloid mass. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!

I am one who read and was deeply affected by your letter, so I've been awaiting this update. It's funny, but this seems like a beautiful result actually; it sounds as if you can keep your family, and that they love you and want to be in your life. Considering that your parents are elderly and firmly entrenched, "don't ask, don't tell" might be a pretty good outcome, and much better than some of the alternatives.
It's interesting how things go sometimes. That letter was a work of art and a gift from the soul. Even if your parents don't ever read the words you wrote, I have the feeling that lots of other parents and siblings and children and spouses and friends all around the world will be reading them. You created and shared something remarkable.
I'm glad things seem to have turned out OK for you and your family, and that your parents seem willing to crack open the door again. I hope it's a new beginning for you all. -

At least the JWs who FEAR Armageddon still have a shred of reasoning power and/or empathy IMO. The ones who aren't afraid at all, but rather are drooling in eager anticipation, those ones make my blood run cold. Sacrifice your whole life, your family's life, for the "real" life that will come later, and I guess you end up gleefully anticipating the payoff. So long as the payoff is "coming soon," there's no need to look into the mirror and see the insane waste that's been invested.
For many Witnesses, Armageddon is the only thing they have to look forward to. -

Is being searched by your employer EVERY day legal?
by Gill ini am in the middle of induction training for a new job at a local store that is one of the uk's largest hardware stores.. today we were told it was company policy that every staff member is searched everyday before they leave the shop.
you cannot, under any circumstances leave the store until you have been searched both your bag and person and sometimes you car also searched.. your handbag has to be emptied and searched, your pockets have to be emptied and you have to take off whatever clothes you are told to take off including shoes, roll up your shirt above waist level if you are a woman and loosen the waist band of your trousers.. if i am right, even the police are not permitted to search anyone without due cause and i already feel 'violated' at the thought that i will have to go through this humiliation everyday.
this shop basically sells toiletries, garden stuff etc and insist that half of their theft if from staff.. however, we were also told that shoplifters cannot be stopped unless they have been followed all round the store and their is 100% knowledge that they have stolen something as a stop and search would get the store into terrible trouble.. so, am i correct in thinking that these people are going to violate my human rights every day!.

That is awful, I would feel very sick and uncomfortable with that too. If this is a private employer, chances are they can do this legally. Limited information about monitoring can be found at http://www.workingrights.co.uk/PrivacyIssues.html. I don't know about the searches. At the very least, I would think you could insist on female "searchers."
Like someone else said though, whether it's legal or not, it is very degrading and I personally would not want to work for a company like that. If I were you I would start looking for another job if that is at all possible! Sorry you're going through this. -

A noble effort, and a plethora of very valid questions and concerns. You might be interested to review the correspondence that is archived here: http://www.watchtowerletters.com/Home.html (copy and paste the link into your browser; I don't know how to make it clickable).
This link is a series of letters to and from the WTS that address many of the issues you raise here. I think it could be very interesting reading for you, and could also provide you with additional resources to consider and cite, as the author raised many of the same questions you pose here. If you read through all of the letters, it will also give you an idea of what you might expect from the WTS in terms of answers (hint: not much). You might not get what you seek from the WTS, but perhaps you will have some success opening the eyes of your loved ones. Good luck and best wishes; welcome and thanks for sharing.
Edited to add another link that might be helpful for you: http://www.dimaggio.org/Heretic/critical.htm
