I wouldn't use the term "lesser". The org does seem to attact many who grew up in dysfunctional situations though.

personality types
what kind of personality does the organization attract?
nice, gullible, under educated, naive?

when, as one of jehovahs witnesses, we found householders unwilling to listen to us, we were at times frustrated.
the comparison often made was to a burning house with people inside.
we were trying our best to warn them of danger, but usually they would not listen, often scoffing at us.
Great post, Confession!

going from one religion to another
as a former jehovah's witness have you been enticed to consider another religion perhaps, seeking to find "the truth" ?
this is a dilemma that certain individuals.
In answer to your question, once I knew Watchtower was full of lies I decided to research the BIble. I discovered the Bible is full of fables, that the gospels weren't written by those given credit for them, that nothing was written down about Jesus until around 40 years after his death (if he existed) and that there is no historical evidence for Jesus' existence
Exactly what I found. Hard to accept, (even still), but reality.

i remember at an assembly someone saying "oh yeh thats such and such, he's annointed...you can really tell" or something like that.. are those claiming, that they are annointed nutters?
did their alphabet spaghetti spell it out for them?
personally i think they are either very very confused, big headed or nutters
A couple of the older ones I knew, honestly were no dfferent than anyone else. One of the ladies was very nice, and smart as well. The problem seems to be with the younger "anointed" if you ask me. My experience there always was ones who were eccentric, lazy, (wouldn't work), and even unfriendly. This seems to make sense, as the older ones who claimed to be of the anointed really only believed what every other Christian believed at the time -that they would go to heaven, no big deal. For any younger jw to claim this, after being indoctrinated, (learning of a paradise earth and what not), it would take a nutter to believe they were somehow of that class, and yet still believe jwism.

the latest rumblings are that the wtbts may start coming down hard on anyone who marries outside the faith.
jw's who choose to marry a non believer will be df'd.
i would imagine those marrying unbaptized ones will be marked or told to get the spouse baptized or get df'd.
Included in this tidbit, was the understanding that they will start to go so far as to remove the ones who are already and remain married to UBM's by dfing them.
That won't happen. Even THEY know that is unscriptural. It would also cause pandemonium as many elders and ms's are already of that category.

The YMCA is a false religious organization — the UN is not. While the Bible tells us to be in subjection to worldly governments by obeying the law, paying our taxes, registering in certain programs, and using governments to “legally establish” the preaching work, the Bible puts us under no such obligations to any of the false religions in this world. Revelation 18:4 tells us to “get out from among” false religion, while Romans 13:1 says to “be in subjection” to the government. Using government programs and facilities for our benefit cannot be compared to using similar things from false religions
3W, are you SERIOUS using this sort of an argument? I would be embarassed to use such an argument. Clearly, the WTS has denounced the UN, as the principal part of the Wild Beast, for DECADES. They are far more related to biblical prophesy from a WT perspective than an organization, let's say such as FEMA is. It is not a one for one comparison here, any honest person can see what's wrong with that.
Secondly, the lack of an explanation to the R&F, (and threatening of df'ing for even ASKING about it), does not put the WT in a good light. Again, any honest person can see this. Why don't you try to take an honest look at yourself for once.

it was much easier for me when we used to charge for literature than ask the householder if they wanted to contribute to the worldwide work.i was too embarassed.
that's why i just gave the literature away and not put them on the spot.. the witnesses that did ask the householder to contribute would usually never get a donation.. what was your experience?
I believe I tried it at first. Didn't take long for me to realize it didn't work, so I stopped asking.
