this was the reason that our 12 year old son gave us for wanting to be baptized.
my wife and i actually agreed that he should wait a little longer, thank god!
by the time he was 13 he was running wild.
You need to stand up to your wife and be there for your daughter, (yes openly, sneaking around your wife is not good enough). Your wife will respect you for that later, if she is worth keeping. Some self reflection is in order on this one.
This thread has nothing to do with microphones. (I also edited this post significantly, FWIW).

does anybody know if ray franz ever addressed his thoughts on atheism?
from what i've read, he was a diligent reader of the bible.
if anybody has any info and sources about this, it is highly appreciated.
Ray remained a Christian with beliefs that did not change much from JW in many areas, (still rejected the Trinity, for example). I always thought this a bit odd, but now I think I understand it to be just how far the conditioning affects a person. Ray was just human in the end.

i am sure that the gb does not care about the r&f jw.
it does not care about the organization collapsing overnight.. why do i say this?.
in 2013 the organization declared that the "faithful and discreet slave" consisted only of the seven member of the gb.
After taking over all property and extra cash from all congregations on the whole planet, which amounts to at the very least US$ 50 billion, they are in a great position if every one leaves, they can just share the cash between themselves.
That is one of the more absurd ideas that finds its way here every now and again. They cannot do this as a non-profit, it is flatly illegal. They do get away with taking the money from the local congregations however, because that is simply a transfer from one non-profit to another which is legal.

They care. It is their identity and their life. This is also precisely why they go to the the lengths they do to protect the organization. They cannot exist without it. Plain and simple.

why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.

FayeDunaway - This is so bizarre. You would think they would have drawn the disfellowshipped one in black and white and the rest in color...what a strange decision!! And to give her such a beautifully colored dress, too.
Yes, downright bizarre. That was my exact thought. It is almost as if they cannot even hide the fact they are black and white thinking, lifeless automatons, and are proud of it.

Stuckinarut2 - I would rather hang out with the pretty lady in colour that is walking out of the door, than the shadowy pencil drawn "lovefest" people in the hall!
Quite Freudian, isn't it?

the first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.
i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.
at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?
I think this is actually a good idea, if not the best implementation of it. Details do matter, and they have not been worked out. Someone will run with this concept to improve it.
It will get people talking, (or at least thinking). No, it will not make someone "wake up" immediately for most. That is doing little more than pointing out the obvious. However since this type of campaign has really not been tried before, it will tend to stand out in people's minds, and that is what matters.
Sure, they may claim "persecution", but that is a short-term response. If we look at this on a long-term macro level, this will force a few WTF moments for some, in time. Most of us never would have imagined this being done 5 years ago.

The Searcher - Most J.W.s - not all - are just people who are doing what many of us here used to do.
Having the scales removed from the eyes should make us far better human beings.
It depends on who, but for someone I care about, yes. What The Searcher states above is reality, and I am not into being a hypocrite.

i remember when i was a kid, how the importance of meeting attendance was continually drummed into our heads.
through the magazines, meetings, and especially traveling overseers, it was stressed that missing just one meeting was akin to allowing satan into our lives and would jeopardize our everlasting life in paradise earth.. one particular bit of 'advice' stood out, even to a small child: even if out of town relatives showed up on meeting day, you shouldn't let that cause you to miss a meeting.
i remember trying to play that out in mind... 'welcome, grandpa!
I have noticed they tend to respond that way more often when they are fighting their own cognitive dissonance, especially if they thought you and your wife would likely not go to the hall with them. If it were something else they wanted to do, (without you being there), they may not even think twice about missing the meeting. Based on the context here, its sounds like it was implied going to the hall was not on the agenda, so you received their self-inflicted guilt trip response.
