john hoyle--jws go knocking on strangers doors and try to get inside homes to preach.. wt rep--we are slowly moving away from that kind of preaching work, we do more preaching by using literature carts and personal telephone calls.. .
the above quote is from john hoyle's website:http://insidethewatchtower.com/doctrine/phone-calls-to-bethel-jw-org-email-and-contacts/.
it's interesting, isn't it?
Sir82 - Eliminating the concept of a "publisher", and the handy numerical measuring rod of "hours", would so fundamentally change the nature of JWs that the organization would become unrecognizable.
I agree with that, and think the JW organization will become unrecognizable because of this. The choice will be either adapt or go extinct. Social evolution is pushing them in that direction. In 5 years, cart witnessing will be the only witnessing done, and by special "privilege" only. The Conti decision, whether we realize it or not, sealed that deal.

the court on the rule of confidentiality of penitential communications and evidentiary privilege--.. decision reads:.
"the law generally protects the confidentiality of communications with clergy like those of kendrick to the elders here.".
"if the person has a constitutional right to independence in making religious choices, the recognition of an evidentiary privilege is an apt means of protecting that autonomy.
WT is concerned about the legal precedent, not the payout.
The appellate decision was a subtle loss for the WT. Not the big one, we all wanted, but a loss for them nonetheless. The decision will force them to do FS differently, and they know it. They are trying to buy time.

if you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.
i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.
i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.
Vidiot - From my POV, the '95 Generation Change bought the WTS some breathing room for the script's sequence of events to still play out as predicted, therefore enabling the WTS to still - in the end - be (mostly) "right".
I remember that well. Many were troubled by this change. However, I remember myself being somewhat relieved at the time, since knowing we were past 80 years, something had to give. I was more troubled by the fact the explanation they tried to apply to "generation" then made zero sense, and no two people understood it the same way.

wt is insinuating, worse yet, blaming senior jw parents for there not being more younger brothers reaching out to be ministerial servants and elders.
page 11 paragraph 9 reads as follows: .
"elders in affluent lands may face an added challenge: how to motivate baptized brothers in their 20s or 30s to get involved in congregation activities.
I have to give the org. credit...They seem to be finding new angles of paranoia all the time now.
It used to just be, "do more, do more, do more", now it is about putting blame on those for why others are not "doing more"...
The wheels are slowly coming off.

why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.
I normally do not stay with a thread quite this long after offering my brief comments, however this one really concerns me for some personal reasons that have nothing to do with being DF or even shunned. Let's just say it has a lot to do with the manipulation I now envision being exerted on some of those still in who actually have a brain cell or two functioning.
The WT is officially "all in" on emotional manipulation. As many have pointed out, the messages sent from this picture are very far reaching, and cover the gamut of everything from not only how to treat the DF, but right down to what is considered "normal" or appropriate dress, and even indirectly career choice, (for those who mentioned the woman is clearly professionally dressed). WT knows a picture is worth 1000 words, and damn if this one isn't worth a volume or two. They cover more WT talk points here than an entire fucking convention...
Fuck you, GB!

Pete-
An entire case study could be written about this picture.

Good analysis of Sept. '07 KM from former poster Leolaia:

It reads somewhat benign today. That in itself speaks to how off the rails the message from the WT currently is. The tone and content are common coin today in WT land. That was not so in 2007.

Millie210 - what was in the '07 KM?
I am sure I can find it here later, (at work now), but in short this was the first time I remember reading an article that flatly stated, (and I'm paraphrasing), "Don't read anything, don't research anything, just listen to us and shut up...."
My never have been a JW wife paraphrased the article as such, after I asked her to read it and tell me what she thought its message was. Very telling.

BU2B - You would think that they would potray the congregation in color and the DF sister as unhappy and in black and white. Very odd.
I am afraid unfortunately, they are just that out of touch. This is really troubling on many levels, even for them. It speaks volumes as to how f@cked up the organization is. Much more than can be easily articulated in a few paragraphs.
I really do think this is the worst thing they put in print since the September 2007 KM, and much worse.
