Amelia Earhart is alive and well...
Jim Morrison is starting a new band called the Lizard Kings...
We didn't land on the moon...
Oh, and wait for it....Obama was born where???

the rothschild family will not allow the aussies to take any significant action against their religious wing (mormons, jws, adventists, etc.).
the worst outcome for the borg will be a relatively small fine and a deadline to change their rules.
that is all..

my understanding (very limited and maybe flawed) is that this commission has no teeth.
if thats true why would the org care?
send a few lawyers, go through the motions but in the end.... its a dog parking on a porch.
I will defer to the Aussies or others better qualified than myself to determine if the RC has any teeth.
That said, there is no question that the coverage has attention. The frequency and intensity of pressure the organization is receiving from many sources, on many fronts, amounts to a long, slow death of a thousand cuts.
Someone mentioned on another thread about JWs becoming more "culty". This is a sign of itself of cognitive dissonance being experienced by the masses, in aggregate. CD is the product of internal mental conflict, and when these types of stories hit the media, the JWs' reaction initially is shock, almost immediately followed by a strong sense of denial. That denial is their "protection" from information they find very discomforting, and their response to the dissonant information heard.
All of this leads to a polarization of currently open minded people vs. hardcore adherents over time. The ones left who are "culty" in their behaviors are the more hardcore types, however being hardcore is not 100% mutually exclusive with being intelligent. Once something happens to them personally that makes them question, all of these accounts that caused CD come rushing back, and this time serve to confirm their doubts, rather than causing them to dig their heels in deeper.
If most of us take the time to reflect on our exit out, we can probably see how some variation of this process happened to ourselves.

can you help me here is what i have asked correct?
this means a serious issue faces the gb, but odds are they will not attend!
!
Heaven - That says boat loads to everyone, JW or non-JW.
You have that right. I think not showing up is way, way worse in terms of how it reflects on the organization and its leadership than manning up and accepting the chips as they fall.

a jehovah's witness official says the church's stance to never let women hold decision-making roles compares to muslim and aboriginal people adhering to their own ancient beliefs.
Good quote from Hitchens, Heaven.

ToesUp - I have worked and associated with women that could run circles (intelligence/financially) around these "men."
Overall, some of the most capable leaders I know of are women, (I include in this my wife, CIO, and others). Generally, more sound decisions are made without the extra shot of testosterone.
FWIW, as bad as WT is, there is almost no way this issue would exist if the organization were ran by women.

bit long winded i know, but how about i save the ol' gobod some work and lay it on the line for them?
anyone got any wt headed paper?.
dear brothers.
Well written.
The reason it would never see the light of day, is that it does two things:
1. It is a tacit admittance of dealing with these cases improperly in the past, which would no doubt would cause major upheaval in the organization, especially for those directly affected by the crime.
2. It creates a major slippery slope enabling the dismantling of the entire judicial process, and one of the cornerstones of what keeps the organization from collapse.

this is when all the pieces of the puzzle come together.
many thanks to simon for creating a forum which allows us to get a clear sense of what is happening.
without this forum i would still be wandering in the wilderness.
Btw, being a statistics guy, I would be curious to know just how much activity this site has had over the mean since this RC started.
Simon, do you have that information available? It would speak to the effect something such as the RC has on the psychology of people, provided the sample size is large enough. Our sample should be sufficient for a fairly accurate "read".

An open discussion forum like this may get ugly at times, but this is how we come to the real truth of matters. If one is patient and allows themselves time to read, and eventually take part in the open discussion offered, the facts eventually manifest themselves. The RC is clearly an indicator of the social evolution that is taking in place in society in general in the information age, and it is largely because of open discussion forums like this that help make that possible.
Thank you Simon for having the foresight 15 years ago, (even as a JW then), to see that allowing for open discussion, and not stifling it, is the proper way to get to truth.

i actually started clapping at that point, as his honour explained to the wt type creep sycophantic slithery lawyer that........" i understand that we all have issues to face in life and .....that is a part of life...........however it has become obvious that this man ....is in such a position to assist with this investigation.....".
it boils down to the fact that stewart outright accused the latest witness of misleading the royal commission and this lead to some document searches which led his honour to conclude that they had been protecting mr jackson.
this was a warm and fluffy moment folks.................brilliant stuff!!!!!
d4g - No one is going to take pity on him because of the family situation.
I am sure this statement earned the "dislike", (and may earn a few more). What I am stating is that people in general are going to see the big picture, just as the RC has. While it is understandable that Jackson has the right to, and should visit his sick father, he has a larger social responsibility to address a situation that affects many more than his family alone. I am not going to pander to the feeling types that place sentiment over doing what is right.

It will be duly noted if Jackson skips country and heads back to NY. No one is going to take pity on him because of the family situation. WT is screwed.
This is getting interesting.
