We utterly refuse to become involved with ...social programs and schemes I wonder if that would include the Jehovah's Witness Holocaust-Era Survivors Fund, Inc.?

Stephen King event at the convention...
by Justice-One inthis really had a wierd feel to it.
at the convention last weekend, i was still walking around in the hallway when the prayer started.
everyone came to a standstill, and bowed their head like good little jw automatons.

Would you honor your relatives request for no blood?
by free2beme inas i get older, i realize that a time could come where i could find my spouse and i in a situation where we could have our parents in a situation of needing blood to live and us having to speak on their behalf.
with that in mind, i know that the medical directive is not enough and they do try to get family members to do the blood to save them.
i know this, as it happened with my mother and my dad had her take blood.

Other than my wife and children, the only relatives I care about saving are already apostate, so it wouldn't be an issue. The ones that are still dubs, could dry up and blow away in a windstorm, for all I care.

for the DF'd: did you confess or were you ratted out?
by kid-A inlooking back at the 10 or so cases of disfellowshipping i recall, i think only 1 was due to the orwellian borg spy system.
he was ratted out.. all the other cases were actually "confessions" by people that otherwise would have gotten away with it.
i am wondering is these percentages.

Why Joseph did not bonk Mrs Pot
by Inquisitor inthe wts loooves to harp on the story of joseph fleeing from potiphar's wife (see this week's watchtower article).
it provides a most convenient moral story with which to command young people .
i've often wondered if joseph rejected mrs potiphar for reasons other than chastity.

letter about relying on bookstudy
by Kaytam inbeen out for a while and still a little confused.
i was just told that a letter was read at this week's service meeting saying that witnesses should be prepared to rely on their bookstudy groups.
natural disasters were mentioned and i guess some folks are feeling that this is due to approaching persecution and banning.

Welcome to the board. Don't worry about what you heard. I remember them spewing the same crap in the early 70's. We sold our house, quit our jobs, moved hundreds of miles away, and sure enough...... NOTHING HAPPENED.
They are a doomsday cult.
