The 28th marks the date the judge is supposed to rule on Vicki's case. As you may recall Watchtower has requested legal fees for her to pay in the amount of $160,000 after the Judge ruled in her favor with a $5,000 judgement to be paid to her. In court documents Watchtower is complaining that Vicki abused them by testifying that elders admonished her to not report her allegations of abuse to the police. It is another case of punishing abuse survivors that try to speak out and seek justice. Where do you think the $160,000 in legal fees came from? World Wide Work money that is donated to and by Jehovah's Witnesses. So if you wish to support the continued harassement and punishment of abuse survivors continue to contribute to this fund a few cents out of each dollar ultimately goes to defend child molesters.
Please send your prayers to go with Vicki today, it will be a very stressful time for her and the judge hopefully will see the injustice of what is being requested. Vicki needs all the help she can get and your prayers can assist in that regard.
Also the CBC program that aired earlier this year will have an update;
The show will air at 9pm. on September 3rd. Not much will be different except for the end, there should be an update on what happens today. -

REVISED REQUEST: Ex-JW ELDERS !
by Amazing inmy earlier post asked about boe letters you may have or were aware of.
i wish to revise this to say that we need to contact an active-elder ... or ... ex-elder in each of the 50 united states who is willing to support our efforts.
the lawyer needs to contact you directly for a number of questions relating to the jw pedophile issue, and not necessarily the boe letters.

No. I used to work with Bill, but that changed about a year ago. Now, I am working directly with a law firm that is very involved with this issue. I will be giving an update soon to the whole JWD board that will give a picture of what is going on.
hmmm...it would be a lot easier to find elders and BOE letters, i'm sure Bill has some contacts...

by jimbob insome of it is a joke, cause they say the jw's are a fast growing religion...i'm sure the author of the article only talked to dubs and not ex-dubs to find out the real "truth"...].

This is the letter i sent to Vanessa Ho
Hello!
I have just finished reading your article about Jehovah's Witnesses, entitled
"Changing tactics speed growth of Jehovah's Witnesses".
I must say, your article is very one-sided and doesnt represent the current
situation at all. "Changing tacticts" are not something new in Witnesses work, they have been using telephone preaching, letters and informal witnessing
(in the market, bus station, gas station) for years or better, decades.
I also suspect, that you havent researched any statistics about their growth.
As you can check on this webpage http://www.jwic.com/02n_amer.htm, there
has not been any increase in the US for the last five years, contrary, the number
of new converts (baptized) has dropped from 45.000 in 1997 to 30.000 in 2002. Thats not growth, just pure decrease by 1/3. The numbers are also dropping in almost all western countries and all increase comes from the third world countries, some eastern Europe countries and Africa. You can check that here: http://www.jwic.com
When mentioning their beliefs, you haven't at all mentioned their main belief -
that the end of this world is coming very soon and that only JW's will be saved -
I mean, that is the main reason, they are calling their work life-saving, because all that don't listen to their message, will lost their lives in armageddon, as they
call the final battle.
I can understand, you have some symphaty for the "workers" of the Watchtower, but you should remain objective in your writing about anyone. I hope, this letter
will not be understood negatively.

Top court may rule on transfusions 'This is my chance to speak out' - Jehovah's Witness Sunday, August 24, 2003
EDMONTON - The Supreme Court of Canada may decide this week whether to hear an appeal from a local Jehovah's Witness who was forced by a court to have a blood transfusion against her wishes.
"This is my chance to speak out," Candice Unland said in an interview Saturday, speaking publicly for the first time in the four years since a judge ordered her to have a blood transfusion against her will.
"I want them to listen to me now," Unland said. "They did not listen to me then."
The resident of Morinville, just north of Edmonton, turns 21 next month. She was 16 when she was given blood.
Unland said she is speaking out now in an attempt to ensure the same thing never happens to another mature teen who refuses a blood transfusion for the same reasons: because the Bible says people should abstain from blood and because blood can carry diseases such as hepatitis.
She is also speaking out for Bethany Hughes, a Jehovah's Witness who died of leukemia last year at 17 after an unsuccessful court battle to refuse the 38 transfusions she received as part of her cancer treatment.
Unland supported Hughes with phone calls and letters of support. After the Calgary teen died, Unland pledged to finish her fight.
Adults and mature minors have a clear common-law right to decide what medical treatment they will accept or refuse, Unland's lawyer Shane Brady said.
This tradition plus Unland's right to raise Charter of Rights issues are the two foundations for the Supreme Court appeal.
However, the court grants only 10 or 15 per cent of all applications to appeal, Brady said.
He said his client went to the Misericordia Hospital on April 15, 1999, after she experienced prolonged menstrual bleeding.
Unland agreed to have surgery to stop the bleeding but refused to have a blood transfusion during the operation even if doctors decided her life was in danger.
Unland said she arrived at the Misericordia about 1 p.m. and at 10 p.m. was taken to a conference room where she and her parents met a provincial court judge and a lawyer who was to represent her.
"I had no time to speak to my lawyer at all," she remembers. "I felt I was not listened to at all."
Both her parents -- her father is a Jehovah's Witness and her mother is Greek Orthodox -- supported her right to make her own decision.
She said the judge took just 10 minutes to make her a ward of the province and grant permission for blood transfusions.
The Alberta Court of Appeal denied Unland's appeal, in a written ruling Feb. 26, 2003.
Misericordia doctors told the 1999 hospital hearing that transfusions are required in 20 per cent of surgeries similar to the operation which stopped Unland's bleeding, the Court of Appeal said.
"While conceding that the concept of a mature minor's right to consent to treatment is embodied in the common law, the Crown argued that the CWA (Child Welfare Act) has supplanted any common law right of a mature minor to refuse treatment."
Lower Alberta courts acknowledged Unland was a mature minor, the decision said, but decided the child welfare law permitted the ordering of a transfusion.
Lawyer David Gnam, who was asking the Supreme Court to review Hughes's case when his client died, said the Unland appeal, funded by Jehovah's Witnesses, defends the common law and Charter rights of teenagers.

The whole idea of two classes, taking 144k literal, 8500 annointed still alive today,
why would we need 144.000 rulers in heaven anyway...how are they goint to rule
and judge if they are invisible? besides the bible is just a sum of older religious ideas,
nothing new there, just another book, just another bluff -

Is it legal to announce DA?
by izobcenec inok, if someone sends da letter to his elders, that is a confidential.
thing...personal information.
but what do the elders do?
-
izobcenec
This was strictly a "legal" question. I dont know about any clause...
Yes, they only say "xxxx has DA himself..." and we all know why
they say that (so all can shun him), but it is not a bible procedure,
pure WT thing, and with all data and personal info protection laws,
it wouldbe interesting to state in DA letter, that announcment of
this information would result in a lawsuit against local elders...
