Suprising statement by C.T.Russell in first Watchtower
by dmouse inthere's a website that has reprint of lots of old watchtower, and i happened to look at the first one, dated july, 1879.. http://www.mostholyfaith.com/bible/reprints/.
in a supplement to the issue, by c.t.russell, he offers a suprising (to me) viewpoint which seems to echo the arguments of many 'apostates' here, namely, that to kill billions at armageddon would be unloving and unscriptual.. we reasoned that, if christ's coming were to end probation, and bring irrevocable ruin upon ninety-nine in a hundred of mankind; then it could scarcely be considered desirable, neither could we pray with proper spirit, "come, lord jesus, come quickly!
" we had rather request--much as we should "love his appearing"--that he remain away and our sufferings and trials continue so that "if by any means we might save some.

Not good, not good at all
by lola28 inhi guys,.
sorry to burden you all with this but i really have no one that i want to talk about this with, i'm afraid that i will burst into tears and wont be able to stop if i call any of my friends and tell them what's going on.
my little sister has been ill with a fever for three weeks, her doctor kept telling her it was just a bad case of the flu and that she had an ear infection, he gave her antibiotics and sent her home.

I am so sorry. I hope they find what's wrong quicky so they can help her. Medical science has come a long way. Cancer is not the life sentence it used to be. As an only child I am always in awe (and a little jealous) of relashionships among siblings.
Hang in there, and take care of yourself too.
I'll be thinking of you.

The Watchtower Society—a Woman's Perspective
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #b450ab; } .style2 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } --> the watchtower societya woman's perspective often times, i wondered how the sisters viewed the organization.. there will be two or three inquiries regarding this discussion so.
any information regarding it would be appreciated.. the way the sisters dressed according to the way the society viewed women what did you.
think about there standards regarding the dress code?.

Dress code: My dad measured the hems of my dress when I was little (late 60's early 70's) to be sure they were at the middle of the knee and no higher. I would walk around raising my shoulders to make my dress look shorter. What a dork!
I know of congregations where sisters have to wear pantyhose. I once was in a cong. that made you sew up the slits in skirts (even the kick pleat in back that is just there so you can walk w/o looking like a geisha).
Brothers: Some were kind and fatherly. Most were arrogant and condecending.
Submission: I've seen it carried to extreems. Abused wives counseled to stay and be better wives. Husbands putting down their wives verbally. Wives who have to consult their husbands for every little thing as if they did not have a brain.

..Jehovah`s Witness`s.. Lack of real Appreciation for Life
by OUTLAW injehovah`s witness`s have a lack of real appreciation for life..no birthdays..no christmas..no need for education..no need for charity..little interaction with the outside world..shun family and friends..allow friends and family to suffer because of ever changing rules and policies of the wbt$..very little love for anything outside the wbt$..jehovah`s witness`s believe they will live forever..does believing they will live forever make them less appreciative of the life they are wasting?...outlaw

My mom is 82. She was baptized in 1953. She was a very beautiful woman(still is). I have a theory that her subconcious reason for becoming a witness was because she trully believed she would not grow old and die. Today, she looks in the mirror and says yuck (even though she always gets compliments when she goes out). When asked "how are you", she says "good enough" in a sad tone (even though she has not had as much as a cold in the past 3 years). She spends the day napping off and on. She won't take antidepressants because she says she is not depressed.
She lives in a state of constant gloom that I attribute to dissillutionment with having grown old in this system (she would never admit this). She did not get what she signed up for and she has not idea how to be happy and old at the same time..I remind her constantly, that she is beautiful and healthy for a woman her age,she looks at me like I'm nuts.
I am making it my life's goal to embrace each day and each precious person in my life. To not take anything for granted. To have dreams that are attainable and then do the work to achieve them. To encourage my children to live up to their potential and to accept the opportunities life offers. I have probably lived over half of my life now, but I am determined not to let my witness upbringing sour my life.

Does It Bother You That Some Posters Give Misinformation???
by minimus ini don't like the fact that at times, false information is disseminated here.
where's the "big announcement in october"???
or we hear that the blood issue will be changed or that something big is going to be happening at the next assembly.

It bugs me too. But being a witness for so long has made me jaded and suspicious. I investigate everything, unless it sounds totally "hoakie" and then I just disregard it completly.

Auldsoul-You gave words to my feelings! "I never knew I wasn't a witness". Being raised a witness I did all the expected things but always had questions. I still remember things I would ask my Mom when I was very little. I always bucked the system in my own way-not blatantly, but having my own take on things. I've always thought some teachings were just silly-like animals not eating other animals. I had worldly boyfriends in school(parents never knew). I've never felt "religious". I don't think I would have a religion had I not been raised in one.
However, I had no voice or outlet for my feelings. I always knew to be careful of what I said and did. I learned very early how to cover my tracks. Being a witness was never trully "me".

This is news to me too! Can somebody tell me what Russell taught concerning the earth? Does it get destroyed? Who gets to live on earth ? Can you provide scrips to back his belief?

Are Faders "better" than DF'd or DA'd?
by ESTEE inthis is something i've been mulling over.
just would like to hear opinions as to whether faders, or inactive ones think they are superior to disfellowshipped or disassociated ones?
what is your experience with this?
-

I'm fading but would love to DA and make a statement. However, circumstances won't allow. Everyone has their own reasons for how the get out. None is better tha another.
