Fuzzy Right-of-Way Rules Leads to Pathetic, Awkward, Theocratic Dork Fight
by Check_Your_Premises inapupi - idaho.
"there were watchtowers and osmond cd's strewn around everywhere" recalled the shaken resident marjorie spade, whose yard was the setting for a lame, sissy fight.
"i couldn't believe that in this day and age we still are fighting religious wars", she said in the aftermath of the flailing, ineffectual fracas.. apparantly the outbreak of faith-based nerd violence took place when two groups of youths approached eachother while out in their respective ministries.

Inside the minds of N. Koreans -- AND JW's
by Rabbit inhere is a sad, scary story about a whole country of isolated people whose news and knowledge of the real world around them is strictly controlled -- and the effect upon their minds.. this story reminded me of what happened to me during my 35 years 'in' the wt.
does it remind you of the same mind-set ?
it sure helped me understand the danger of extreme politics & religious dogma.. .

Very funny, and sad because it's almost true. By the way I have an autumnal vegetable arrangement on my dinner table right now. Do you think the demons will poison our meals?

Suprising statement by C.T.Russell in first Watchtower
by dmouse inthere's a website that has reprint of lots of old watchtower, and i happened to look at the first one, dated july, 1879.. http://www.mostholyfaith.com/bible/reprints/.
in a supplement to the issue, by c.t.russell, he offers a suprising (to me) viewpoint which seems to echo the arguments of many 'apostates' here, namely, that to kill billions at armageddon would be unloving and unscriptual.. we reasoned that, if christ's coming were to end probation, and bring irrevocable ruin upon ninety-nine in a hundred of mankind; then it could scarcely be considered desirable, neither could we pray with proper spirit, "come, lord jesus, come quickly!
" we had rather request--much as we should "love his appearing"--that he remain away and our sufferings and trials continue so that "if by any means we might save some.

Not good, not good at all
by lola28 inhi guys,.
sorry to burden you all with this but i really have no one that i want to talk about this with, i'm afraid that i will burst into tears and wont be able to stop if i call any of my friends and tell them what's going on.
my little sister has been ill with a fever for three weeks, her doctor kept telling her it was just a bad case of the flu and that she had an ear infection, he gave her antibiotics and sent her home.

I am so sorry. I hope they find what's wrong quicky so they can help her. Medical science has come a long way. Cancer is not the life sentence it used to be. As an only child I am always in awe (and a little jealous) of relashionships among siblings.
Hang in there, and take care of yourself too.
I'll be thinking of you.

The Watchtower Society—a Woman's Perspective
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #b450ab; } .style2 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } --> the watchtower societya woman's perspective often times, i wondered how the sisters viewed the organization.. there will be two or three inquiries regarding this discussion so.
any information regarding it would be appreciated.. the way the sisters dressed according to the way the society viewed women what did you.
think about there standards regarding the dress code?.

Dress code: My dad measured the hems of my dress when I was little (late 60's early 70's) to be sure they were at the middle of the knee and no higher. I would walk around raising my shoulders to make my dress look shorter. What a dork!
I know of congregations where sisters have to wear pantyhose. I once was in a cong. that made you sew up the slits in skirts (even the kick pleat in back that is just there so you can walk w/o looking like a geisha).
Brothers: Some were kind and fatherly. Most were arrogant and condecending.
Submission: I've seen it carried to extreems. Abused wives counseled to stay and be better wives. Husbands putting down their wives verbally. Wives who have to consult their husbands for every little thing as if they did not have a brain.
