  biggest WTBTS threat

  sorry if there has already been a thread on this subject.

  do you think a really big threat to the wtbts is from people like me who are still witnesses and in the organization but also post on this board and have an open mind -- or do you think there are bigger threats -and if so what would they be?

  I remember a Star Trek episode where they captured a Borg (I, Borg) where they were going to program him with the ability to think for himself and be independent. They were then going to send him back so he could infect the rest.

  So yes, I think people who can think for themselves and know a lot about JW history and falsehoods, who are still accepted as JWs in good standing, are very dangerous to the JW mindset. Which is why the Society has been issuing instruction about not even trusting the brothers in your congregation. TRUST NO ONE except the WBTS.

  Perhaps the biggest threat to their control is the Internet.

  and i remember the days when the jws warned about the catholics and their "index" of books, movies, and plays that were denied to catholics as being "dangerous" to their faith.

  that is to say, they were revelatory of the actual truth of a matter and the roman church did not want these truths spreading throughout the faithful.

  now the witnesses are up to it to.. have you read 1984?

  Yes, a definite 'must read' for all JWs and Ex JWs. I'm surprised that the WBTS hasn't found a pretense for 'suggesting' that it is a book Christians should not want to read. I suppose they don't want to draw attention to it.

  I read it for the first time last year and I was astonished at how close were the parallels to the JW religion. One example is how they get relatives to turn each other in, even children turn in their parents. I also like the way that reports would come in of, for example, an excellent quota of shoes produced - but there were never any more in the shops. Kinda remainds me of the field service reports.

  yes my good friends it is september, elders all around the world are having their loving elders meetings, where they discuss coming to see you all to encourage you back to the fold.... hurrah!

  returning to jehovah.

  7 but may the elders themselves take any initiative in approaching a disfellowshipped person?

  The last time I had an elder visit (about the only one in the last ten years, and I'm not even DFd or DAd, just inactive) was about the time the UN fiasco was being revealed.

  The elder visiting me laughed and said there was no way the Society would ever become an NGO of the UN. I calmly assured him that they had but he kept insisting that it was impossible. There could be no possible reason for the society to become connected in any way with the UN beast.

  It was funny when I saw him in the street a few days later. He had obviously had an update because he went as white as a sheet when he saw me and virtually hid behind a tree. He sent a message later in the week to say that actually the Society had a very good reason for joining the UN (beast) - they needed a library card.

  Yeah, right.

  Needless to say I haven't seen an elder since, much to my annoyance now I'm getting more adept at snipping their metaphorical underwear elastic.

  the society says that there are those who pretend to present the truth but who actually distort it.they say that,to attain their objectives,such men may resort to a selective use of evidence,emotionally loaded language,misleading half-truths,devious innuendo,and even outright lies.. sound familiar,anyone you know who does this?.

  One of the cleverest ways to deceive people is to 'hide in plain sight'.

  Articles that contain information like that are classic examples of it. The poor JW drone never realises that the advice could also refer to them.

  the society says it is easy to deceive ourselves.in fact,it may be very difficult to give up or even question deeply cherished opinions.why?becuse we become emotionally attached to our views.. then we deceive ourselves by rationalizing--by manufacturing reasons to justify what are really mistaken and misleading beliefs.. now notice how the society explains this.---one indication that we may have fallen prey to this kind of self-deception is if we find ourselves becoming angry when our beliefs are challenged.. now notice what comes next.--instead of getting angry,it is wise to keep an open mind and " carefully listen"to what others have to say---even when we feel sure that our opinion is right.. according to this counsel,are they deceiving themselves?.

  Why do members here have a fascination with telling us they're leaving ?

  maybe i am way out of line with the comments i am about to make, and i may offend some people,this is not my intention ............ but why do members of this board make a big deal that they are leaving the board ???.

  i just don't get it, are we all here, like a big circle of friends, would you tell your immediate circle of friends you won't see them anymore because you have no time ???.

  you do not have to post everyday or every week here, i take a break sometimes because yeah i don't have the time to post or start a topic, so, but it irks me when people say their life is too busy, or they have others thing to do and will not be posting here anymore.

  I think it's polite for people to mention that they might not be around for a while. Though I must agree it's a bit silly to say that you'll never post again. Lots do and end up regreting it. This board is so addictive!

  If I get fed up with issues here, or haven't much time, I just take a break and pop back when I feel the time is right. Sometimes I'll visit many times without posting.

  But wouldn't life be boring if we all thought the same!

  no, i'm not pissed off at anyone here..........but my job goes back to being full time next week, plus i'm being an apostate by taking some university courses in (gasp!

  ) religious studies (i'm sure to pass that!

  ), plus i'm really going to be busy helping my family with some things over the next while, so i'm not going to have time to post here.
