  i heard some sad news today.

  an old friend of my mum's has apparentely committed suicide.

  i remember the woman well, a devout jw with an amazing sense of humour and a lovely personality.

  Sorry about the link not working, not sure why but if you do a google search on 'suicide tourists jehovah's witnesses' the link comes straight to the top and you can follow it from there. However it is a story from last year I looked at the wrong date - apologies.

  Some good things some bad Blondie, thanks. I do pop by sometimes and see what's happening but my life has been turned upside down in the past few months as I'm going through a painful and messy divorce - JW issues are not high on my list of priorities so I don't feel the need to post much at the minute.

  I heard some sad news today. An old friend of my mum's has apparentely committed suicide. I remember the woman well, a devout JW with an amazing sense of humour and a lovely personality. I don't know any more details at the moment but if true this is the second JW to have commited suicide in Leicester this year. Her name was Nancy Hasha.(sp?)

  I was surprised to hear that there will be a funeral at the Leicester Forest East congregation tomorrow, I thought suicides weren't allowed a service at the hall. What is the current thinking on this?

  On a similer topic today's Mirror newspaper carries a story about 'suicide tourists' here is a quote:

  A family friend said yesterday: "I'm absolutely devastated they felt so desperate to end their lives.

  "I'm also surprised because they were Jehovah's Witnesses and I don't think their church would have a

  Paragraphs 12 & 13 do seem to suggest that the fulfilment of the cry of 'peace and security' may not necessarily be one event. Like the signs that a woman is pregnant, the signs may be many and varied over a period of time.

  In other words they are suggesting that the time left could be VERY short since the cry of p&s may have already happened.

  As usual though they leave themselves in a position of plausable deniability. Dare suggest that the end may be years away and the elders will jump on you with articles like this, but years down the line when the end still hasn't come they can still peddle exactly the same 'end is nigh' crap for a whole new generation of JWs. It's worked before for them and it will work again.

  Notice what the conclusion is to this article: DO MORE!

  I also found it interesting that they come out strongly in defense of 1914. This must be the old guard talking since the younger generation MUST know that the 1914 dogma is a ticking timebomb, just like the 'generation' teaching was.

  1914 is well past it's sell-by date and is starting to smell increasingly rank. By 2014 it will be indigestable even to the die-hards.

  Just like Comical Ally in the Iraq war, who became increasingly ridiculous in defense of his beliefs the nearer the allies got, so too the GB will more vociferously defend the 1914 dogma just before it collapses.

  Things feel a bit confused at the moment because for the first time in your life you can use your OWN brain and conscience, not the virtual ones borrowed from the Society. It will take time to bring them up to speed, and get used to using them.

  However, once you do the feelings of guilt will lessen and you will feel alive and in control of your own life.
