  Dirty Dicks Crab House.

  I believe they have a Sunday Brunch.

  In conversation I refere to the place as Stinky Dicks

  I would leave it in a trust type account with stipulations that to recieve their yearly pmt they visit on a yearly basis your grave site and read aloud and sign in front of witnesses a statement to the afore mentioned.

  i had an assignment to write a bunch of holiday articles that would be shared by all the various papers owned by the guy who owns the paper i'm the editor of.

  after i'd had enough with the usual holiday stuff, i decided to get a little adventerous and expanded one in the series to include, not just the origins of christmas foods, but also some ideas i've been reading and watching about the origins of the chrisitain religion itself.. this is a link to the article, which ran a few weeks ago: .

  let me start by saying that i have posted here before about my wacko sister -in-law.

  this time it is bad.

  we recieved a phone call from my husbands father on friday night asking about how we were and what we were up to ,no biggie just odd since its only maybe the second time in over a year that he has called.

  The local post office will tell you the steps you need to take reguarding the letter and the steps they will take. I'v heard stories from people I know they send an inspector to the perps home. The person I know thought he could use mailboxes to place advetising in for his business. The postal inspector wasn't playing around he demanded postage for each peice my freind delivered and placed in a mail box himself.

  The usps does not play around.

  What contributes to a "climate of fear" in the congregation?

  i was thinking about how much fear there is among jehovah's witnesses in relating to each other.. if you could read the private thoughts of jw's, you'd probably be surprised at the level of fear they have of each other.. this fear is not likely to be the morbid kind of fear, but the other kind of fear that concerns "what will people think of me?".

  you watched a movie at the weekend, it was rated pg, but you are afraid to tell your friends that you went to see it.. you were only able to report 4 hours of field service that month, but you are afraid to report this number so you tweak it.. you missed several meetings due to sickness, you still feel unwell, but you fear what the congregation may think so you force yourself to go.. you went on a weekend getaway, but you are afraid to tell the friends why you were missing that weekend in case they think you put kingdom interests last.. you watched a good book, but you are afraid to talk about it to your friends because they might be stumbled.. you heard of someone who got disfellowshipped but you are afraid to ask what happened.. you were unable to take friday off for the convention, but you fear what will be said about you.. you did not auxiliary pioneer during the memorial season and you are afraid people will think of you as spiritually weak.. .

  not everyone will let these things bother them, but many do.. this climate of fear and worry about what the congregation may or may not think does not contribute to a loving atmosphere.. what other things can you think of that contribute to a climate of fear?.

  Dismembered were you fearful b/c the

  350lb Pig-Faced looking "elder" who has really bad ASS breath, and wants to talk to you in the back room.

  Might threaten to sit on you instead of just plain old reproval.

  Drinking (booze) among "Gods" people......More then ever now?

  looking back its amazing how many alcoholics i knew in the "borg"...................... there are 3 elders in my old hall alone........ that are full blown alcoholics...................... when, have you ever heard of someone.......anyone.......let alone and elder............ getting "dfed" for drinking too much?.

  when i was at bethel........you wouldn't believe how much drinking was done there!.

  there are stories of the old days ( russell & the judge)..where they would find guys passed out in front of the 124 building on sunday mornings........no big deal, just dust them off.............. and bring in.

  I remember growing up an beeing a teenager the teenage boys would spend the night at our house after the fri night ms&sm and commence to have a drinking party. Drinking age was 18 I wasnt legal but would find a place that would sell to me. Hence the bar was open. Does drink till you puke ring a bell?

  on saturday i walked into two old-timer sisters from my congregation and we had a long and very open discussion about many critical topics regarding the organisation and the responsible men within it.

  at first i was not even sure if they would greet me.

  off course, they tried to convince me of going back to the meetings, but in no way were they judgmental or pushing.. we spoke about the preaching work (tract campaign), higher education, independent thinking, elders and child abuse (silentlambs & barbara anderson).

  I'm glad that you had a chance to talk with these sisters and were able to share your point of view.

  Sounds like their hearts may not be with the borg.

  The comment about 5 out of 100 they count as freinds makes you wonder about their inner feelings.
