Have You Prepared For The "Flu" And Do You Get A Flu Shot?

i try to keep my hands clean regularly and stay away from areas and people that i know are sick.. i have never gotten a flu shot and i do know that many that do get one, get the flu anyway.. still, the flu is considered very very bad this year..

I got the shot, I have health issues and can't afford to get sick. Even though it does not offer 100% protection, I would rather go with the odds, some protection is better than none. I have had the shots before with no negative repercussions. I did still get the flu, it was not caused by the shot, which I got several months before. I was pretty sick, but not nearly as sick as other times when I got the flu, I am glad I got it.

Back in the late seventies, I got the Hong King flu, I lost 10pounds and I was skinny to begin with. I really thought I would die. It just happened that my husband had Stephen Kings book, The Stand, I started reading it, as I was too sick to do anything else. The book is about an experimental flu virus that getts out and kills 94% of the world's population in a week. I felt like I was living the book, it was surreal.

i've come to the conclusion that many doctrines of the wts are unscriptural after many years of privately disagreeing with some of them but feeling that the society was "mostly right" and still being used by jehovah.

this turning point has happened in the last year or so.

I am curious as to why you feel the need to preach at this point. It seems you should figure out where you need to be on your spiritual path before you start telling others where they need to be. You are obviously very intelligent, this is not meant as a put down, but if you cannot honestly discuss your current beliefs with your own father, what are you going to preach about?

No wonder it takes 6,000+ hours to get one convert, it's probably actually only 600 hours, the rest is coffee breaks, tanning and driving.

Another sad non jw falling for a baptised jw girl story

ok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .

my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .

i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

I am sorry, it is very hard to get your heart broken. This girl should not have led you on, but she is young and sometimes young girls give into temptation. On your part, you knew that there were impediments to having a relationship with her, but you went ahead, hoping for the best. Let it go, if it meant to be, it will be. I was in a similar situation when I was young. We did eventually get together, but it was many, many years later, I had to realize this was not the right religion, and that took quite a while.

I'm so offended by what happened today at the KIngdom Hall!!

so today we were late for the meeting as usual.

this is because i take a really bad medication where i literally cannot function in the first part of the day but without it i am even worse.

we got there near the end of the talk and it was in my opinion very anoying.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a very judgemental group of people. The organization sets impossible standards, which are almost impossible to meet, especially as one grows older and/or develops health problems. Women have no real function in the congregation, except from the door to door work, I think they are just bored and jealous of others, which makes them critical. While there are some really nice people in this organization, there are a lot of "holier than thou" types, who like nothing better than to gossip and criticize others. It happens in other churches also and even in work situations. The Watchtower maintains a fiction of "Jehovah's Happy People", but the reality is they are no better than any other group, and sometimes worse.

I have been asked what my weaknesses were. Be careful with that one, I usually said something like "I sometimes take my job too seriously"'. You have to be careful, you can't just BS and say something untrue unless you are a very good liar, but you don't want to give them a reason not to hire you.

i'm just curious how many of the wonderful people on here have gone to another religion?.

i recently left the wtb$ and the non-jw friends of mine are all inviting me to their church.

i politely decline the invite saying i'm not ready.

I felt the same way at first. The Watchtower does a pretty good job at running down other religions, some of it true, some of it exaggerated. I have since learned that not all Christian religions teach hell fire, for example. I have visited my MILs Congregational (Church of Christ) church, I was quite impressed, I am thinking of checking out the one in my area. I don't think you need to rush into anything, but if you want to be part of something again, visit a few and check them out, you may be surprised.

School for Congregation Elders

i attended the school late last year, and it was an emotional and mental rollercoaster for me.

i was already divided in my heart to say the least.

one of the instructors stayed in my home for the week, and my family genuinely enjoyed his company.

Thanks for bumping this thread. Wow, I have been out for 12 years, I thought I had seen it all, but this blows my mind. How did I stay all those years without alarm bells going off in my head??? It is so obviously a cult. Being a women, and married to a disfellowshipped mate, I was not exposed to these more secret, extreme cult reasoning. I saw the effects in some elders, but it is hard to know if it is just a bad elder, or actually what is being directed by the GB. It is clear these are evil men, who will not be happy unless they are obeyed without question. I fear for my family that are still brainwashed into this cult.

i have had to make some very difficult decisions in recent days.

in one way i feel good about takeing care of myself and my mother who is on her dead bed in the room next to me.

mom has live with me since 2005 and started to make her journey to the other side on christmas day.

Have you considered hospice care? They are very helpful in helping families deal with end of life issues. No doubt you want to care for your mother yourself, but it might be time to let others help you. Take care, my thoughts are with you
