Fisherman3 minutes agoI have read a publication that says that the related US Supreme Court ruling is unconstitutional.
Lol, What publication is that? You do know that the Supreme court actually decides what is constitutional or not, right?

soooo...i have recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, and am scared out of my mind.
in a weak moment, i called my parents and my mom answered.
i start crying as i tell her about my disease, and this woman says to me:.
It's my own fault for reaching out. I KNOW better!!! I set myself up for this, and as expected, got let down. So really, the blame is mine.
It's not wrong to hope your mom would care that you have a serious illness, so don't beat yourself up for thinking that, any decent parent should have cared, no matter what.

eems like Davis got her Reasonable Accomodation after all ins-spite of how much Vivian knows about how the US government is run and me being wrong 100 percent of the time.
What reasonable accommodation is that? She is not allowed to interfere with her deputies giving out licences, she could just have done that in the first place. It sounds like she is the one who made the accommodation.

((Hugs)) I'm sorry your mother let you down. It's true that for a JW their religion is more important than family, but that doesn't make it any easier to take.
I feel for you, I have some serious medical issues myself, so I know what you are going through. I have learned to take it one day at a time and to think positive, even when it's hard. It's often not what happens to you that is hard, but how you feel about what happens to you. You can't change the condition, you can change how you look at it. I highly recommend meditation and keeping a personal journal. I try to remember all the good things I have in my life, if I focus on them it makes the bad things more bearable.

I knew a few. One couple I was good friends with the wife, she was late twenties when I met her, stunningly beautiful, professional job, seemed to have her act together. He was early twenties, never had had a steady job, and a complete weirdo dork. I never saw what she saw in him, frankly.

This is from the Washington Post:
But there is no serious case to be made for the right of public officials to break laws they don’t agree with, even for religious reasons. This is, in essence, seizing power from our system of laws and courts. The proper manner to change the law, in this instance, is to work for the election of a president who will appoint Supreme Court justices with a different view and for the election of senators who will confirm such justices. Or to propose and pass a constitutional amendment. Davis may be impatient with this system, but it is the one we have. Personally assuming the role in Rowan County, Ky., of a Supreme Court majority is not an option. The available alternatives are to implement the law (as public servants across red America have overwhelmingly done) or to resign in protest (as some have done as well).
for any lurkers who don't believe the watchtower taught that the world would end in 1975... rare jehovah's witnesses 1968 interview "armageddon and 1975" london watchtower rep speaks to bbc.

but where will this system of things be by that time?
I was around then. I didn't know anyone who didn't think the end would come in 1975 or shortly thereafter. In hindsight, I can see how the publications were very careful in what they said, they knew not to make very specific statements that could later be used to prove they had been wrong, but they very obviously wanted people to believe Armageddon was imminent. At the local level, they were more direct in what was said from the platform and there were enough indirect references in various publications that left no doubt they expected the end in 1975 or very shortly thereafter.
This is organization that is all about control, a strict hirarchy that believes they represent God, nothing is said that they don't want said. They had to have been aware of what everyone believed, so you have to wonder, if they actually didn't think armageddon was going to happen in 1975, why didn't they correct the record?
