  VW emissions cheating and driverless cars

  when i first heard about this it sounded like they just had a mode that was optimizing the vehicle's emission levels which sounded good.. turns out, they were detecting when a car was being tested to cheat the control system.. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-34311819.

  their shares are down 19% - but larger than the financial fallout is the trust.

  this is the worlds largest car manufacturer!.

  My husband has a Jetta and he was mad about it. It's. It's not just about passing a test and fooling the government, people made buying decisions based on this information, it's fraud on as major scale. I can't believe they thought they would get away with it.

  hello my dear friends,.

  while this post may not be entirely witness related, i figured i'd write out my thoughts here as a form of release and reflection.. recently, a lot has changed in my life.

  i'm away from home for the first time in a long while training to get certified in a field i'm not even sure i want to work in anymore.

  You are way over thinking this. Give her a call, maybe she is just interested in a friendship, maybe not, you will never know if you don't call. Give it a go, if nothing else you have a new friend. If she isn't interested in romance, maybe she has a friend/sister/coworker who is. Take it slow, call, see where it goes. What have you got to lose?

  Having courage

  a couple of days ago, i told the girl i study with that i didn't want to be part of the study anymore.

  this is the second time i've hold her this but the first time, i didn't make it clear.

  when i told her the first time, she stop coming for a week or two then she randomly showed up.

  It sounds like your whole family needs to grow a backbone. Hopefully they will follow your example and tell them they are not interested. The next time they come ask them what they think about the child sex abuse lawsuits the the Watchtower is currently involved in, also the Australian Royal Cmision investigation into their handling of child abuse cases.

  one of the things that gave me confidence in life was that i believed i had the almighty creator/god watching over me, directing me, guiding my every step, protecting me from harm, and answering my prayers.

  i now know that is not the case anymore.

  i finally stopped praying.

  look at creation and it is so complex, our feelings and emotions are something that could not have evolved (in my opinion) and the earth is so beautiful it seems crazy to think it all just happened.

  I had the opposite reaction. The more I learned about our bodies and DNA and science, the more I became convinced that we had to have evolved, which helped me to see that God did not exist, so then it seemed kind of pointless to pray.

  I do think prayer works for those who believe in God, because it makes you feel you have given your problems over to him and can stop worrying about them. It also works because prayer is a type of meditation, and meditation has proven health benefits.
  

  Since I do not pray anymore, I started meditating and it has helped me a lot, more than prayer ever did.

  as sometimes happens at elders meetings with the co, he has a letter from the branch to read out.

  this rarely is made available later so any policies have to be acted on from memory.

  this visit a letter was read about blurring of the genders and in particular brothers dressing in a metrosexual style - tight clothing was mentioned again.

  What nonsense. Of all the problems in the world, the leaders of this religion focus on tight pants. Really, who cares? Young people of every generation wear clothes that shocks the older generation. Twas ever thus and ever thus will be.

  Back in my day older people got their undies in a bunch because men grew their hair long and women wore short skirts. The society used to say that short skirts were originally worn by prostitutes to attract customers, so no skirts above the knee, anything else meant you were a slut.

  Meanwhile, this religion is a pedophiles paradise, but don't worry, your leaders will save you from the evils of ..... men wearing tight pants.

  I actually knew of someone who was disfellowshipped for that. I was pretty sure he was schizophrenic, because he heard voices, but of course the elders thought he was demon possessed. They had to do something because he would go out street witnessing on his own, talking to the voices in his head the whole time.

  Probably the best thing for him, but it seemed cruel at the time.

  I have JW family in the area, it's scary to think what could have happened. I don't get why someone would stay in a religion like the JWs while doing this. Did he not believe in it and just went along for family reasons, or did he justify it to himself and believe somehow he was special and wouldn't die at Armageddon?

  Lung fish actually use their lungs, this fish has a lung that has no function. Vestigial organs are a big problem for creationists. Why would God give fish a lung that is completely non functional? I have never seen this addressed by the JWs. Why do cats and dogs have dew claws? Humans have muscles that attach to the ear, but cannot move their ears like a dog or cat would.

  I agree that women use sex as a weapon, I agree that it's wrong. I am not trying to excuse the behavior, just point out some things that men can due to improve their sex lives. Of course if a woman is only interested in what material things she can get out of a man and has no interest in sex, none of that will work. But I don't think it's that extreme in most relationships, and I think there are a lot of marriages where the sex could be better and where the woman would be a lot more interested in sex if the sex was better for her. It won't work in every case, it depends on how willing both are to make changes. Many men don't want to divorce but are not happy with their sex lives, what do they have to lose by trying to improve things?

  But you two keep blame shifting this to men.

  Nope, it takes two to tango, as they say. But again, if you are a man and want better sex, there are things you can do, or at least try . The OP was written by a man, if his wife had written it, I would have advice for her. There are things a woman can do to make sex better for her and for her partner.

  The generations coming after you don't look like you, and that is excellent.

  Yeah, I'm old fashioned, I want to love the man I have sex with, but I agree it's a good thing that women today are more liberated and confident sexually now. But people still get married and I still think there are differences in the way women and men think about sex and relationships, and that a smart man knows what works for his partner (and vice versa).
