I live in the Bay area, East Bay actually. I am much older than you, I have children your age, but if you need a mom type listening ear, I am available.

Secret WBT$ documents that get leaked.
by punkofnice init seems that all the 'secret' letters to elders and even the 'flock' book find themselves on satan's internet.
they become fodder for we 'mentally disease apostates'(tm) to analyse, review and destroy.. eg.
i even had the 'skin the flock'(tm) book before the elders in my old congregation.. are the gb/lawyers/paedophile protectors/whoever aware?

What is interesting is that the WTBTS forbids its members from setting up their own websites about the religion, they want their own web site to be the only source. But that means that other than them, the only source for info on them is Wikipedia or the apostate sites. If an interested person wanted info on the dubs, they will quickly find the Apostate sites as well as the official site. The org has control issues and think that the rank and file will be obedient to them and not look at these sites. While many are, there will always be curious Witnesses (especially younger ones). They simply can't control the information out there about them, no matter what they do. Twenty years ago you would have to go out of your way to find out things, now you can find it all in a few minutes on the internet. They made them selves look ridiculous with the Spwrlock and masturbation videos, but they haven't learned from it. Too bad, running a cult is so much harder these days.

Who seemed to be shown more forgiveness? Men or women?
by TweetieBird inwhat has been your experience with people you knew that were reproved or disfellowshipped for adultery?
.
i always felt that the brother was treated more mercifully and excused for it, but a sister was totally demonized..

I think the guys get it easier, especially is immorality issues. The elders are men, I think they understand and sympathize more. But that is also true of society as a whole. It's not as bad as it used to be, but women have always been held to a different standard. Think of all the words for a sexually loose woman; slut, whore, tramp, hussy, harlot, Jezebel, strumput, Trollop, etc. Words for a sexually loose man; playboy, player, words that have a good connotation. There are no statistics, as the WTBTS does not reveal them, but my guess is that men have sex outside of marriage far more often than women, but get caught less and are not treated as harshly when they do get caught.

Dunkin Donuts........... is anything made there anymore????
by DaCheech inmy kids were good yesterday, so i promised them that i would get them dunking donuts in the morning on the way to dropping them off to school...... on the highway, there is a gas station convenience store with a corner dunkin donuts.............. they usually have everything there.. well my kids could not have their donuts, or muffins, or croissants............... they were not delivered i guess.. so, i left.. i went to another dunkin donuts 3 miles away............. and the same problem.. the other dunkin donuts was a dedicated dunkin only place!!!.
there's no baking in the place anymore!!!!.

At least Krispy Kreme makes them on site. If you get one that is still warn, because it has just been made, I think they are really good, if you buy them at the convenience store, not so much. They have a sign that tells you if they have been just made. I have heard they use potato starch in them, which gives them that melt in your mouth taste. I've never had a Dunkin Donut, so I can't compare, I don't think we have them on the West Coast. Either way they are not very good for you, so I have them maybe twice a year.

Obama's speech writers used the strawman fallacies yesterday
by moshe inseems they liked using that fallacy a lot--.
president obama has an, at times, well-deserved reputation for delivering his speeches well.
certainly, the president made an impression today when he delivered his second inaugural address calling for a bolder, more expansive government that would be committed increasingly to the principles of liberalism, with characteristic soaring rhetoric.. unfortunately, another characteristic was also in evidence in obama's speech: namely, his tendency to argue against positions that nobody holds (and by extension, to mischaracterize his opponents' views so as to make them easier to argue against).

Moshe: Obama has the power to submit a budget to congress, lets see what that does. Does anyone remember what Obama said about the economy and how he was going to fix it? Hmm?
And of course Obama is the first politician to promise more than he could deliver, right? I voted for him, but I never for one minute thought that he could do all that he said he could do, it's the nature of politics. The president is not all powerful, nor is he perfect. He also said he would work with both sides, but that hasn't happened either. Its not all his fault, but still, he said he would do it, and he hasn't.

Keep in mind that someone going through a severe illness like that will have changes in their personality and in the way their brain functions. I have a chronic illness, nothing anywhere as severe as your sisters, but I can imagine some of what she is going through. I took some time off from my small business, thinking it would help me, but instead I got worse. Being in pain, and with nothing I had to do, I started watching TV during the day. I swear, my IQ dropped for every hour I spent doing that. My brain actually wasn't functioning well, I am older, 58, but too young to be that way. I reealized that for my brain to function, I needed something to do. I started my business back up and also started doing volunteer work as well. It has taken a while, but I feel like I getting back to normal, some days are better than others. I meditate daily, and write in my journal, That helps with the pain.
My volunteer work is with the elderly. The focus of the program is helping with cognitive function by helping the participants learn a skill or develop an interest. Studies have shown that we continue to learn and create new neural pathways in the brain, even when we are old, and doing so may slow the onset of dementia. Our learning partners may do art, study literature, write their memoirs, really anything that gets them interested. Perhaps their is something your sister could do that would help her in that way, just a thought.
Take care, I know this must be very difficult to deal with, your sister is lucky to have you to be there for her.

This just new: Thirty-hour quota for auxiliary pioneering (letter)
by pixel ini just wanna post post this.
to all congregations.
re: thirty-hour quota for auxiliary pioneering.

Considering that very few of the hours worked are spent in actual preaching, auxiliary pioneering seems meaningless.
driving around doing not at homes and return visits = 10 hours, actual time spent talking to anyone, averages 2 minutes per hour =20 minutes
Sitting in on someone else's study = 5 hours
Walking around knocking on doors, = 10 hours, during which you talk to 2 people per hour, for maybe 2 minutes each hour on average = 40 minutes total
10 half hour donut breaks = 5 hours
I have been out a while but from what I understand, the D2D work hasn't changed much, You could be an auxialliary pioneer and actually only spend 1 hour preaching. But I don't think they care about that. They arent actually getting many converts in the more developed countries, and they know it. They just want to keep you busy so you don't to engage in prohibited activities or have time to question the status quo.

My mum says her grandchild will be killed by Jah...does he kill Millions of under 12 kids at Armagedon? God is LUV!
by Witness 007 intalking with my anionted mum she tells me how worried she is that our lovely cute grandaughter/neice sarah, 9 months, will have her head cut off by jehovahs angel at armagedon.
{my sister is disfellowshiped and i'm inactive former pioneer/servant 10 years} this sickens me.
i told her how jah loves "even the embroy" of an unborn child.

My mother said something similar, upon hearing that my nephew and his wife were expecting, she said "that's too bad, she will just die at Armageddon". I was still in at the time, but I was still shocked. How can the birth of a child be anything but a joy? I guess I wasn't a ever a very good dub, I could never really think like that.
