why do they repeatedly state that apes turned to humans when that's not what evolutionists teach at all?.
(Besides, I think a strong argument could be made that, genetically, humans are a subset of ape. We're really closely related to them, that's for damn sure.)
According to the National Geographic, we share 96% of our genome with Apes. I guess Jehovah was tired by then and didn't want to start from scratch.

Yes, religion isn't doing much for anyone any more. Religious belief gives people the mistaken impression that they are better than those not of their belief system, a dangerous mind set that assumes nothing is as important as rigid acceptances of ones belief system. What is more important now is reducing mankind's impact to the earth via climate change, learning to live in peace, fighting poverty and famine.

What makes a person want to attend religious services where the loved one is not spoken to (initially) and has to go through silly hoops to be accepted back in?
I believe in most cases they are doing it to strictly please their new love. In my experience they soon tire of the religion and don't end up getting baptized.

they reckon it will give a "fine witness".. i've seen it and found it really irritating, basically margaret keane is such a timid mouse that she allows her husband to take all the credit for her work.
I can't imanlgine why anyone would be excited about this. I would think most people don't care and won't remember what religion she was by the next day. If they do think about it they will probably see she just went from being a doormat for her husband to being a doormat for her religion.

Yes, although by the time I left I had few friends and not a lot of family left. Like Pete Zahut said, at some point you just cant go on as you were. My only regret is not leaving sooner.

i'm currently reading sam harris book waking up and it's very good so far.
I got the book by Sam Harris and read it. It was very interesting, if a bit hard to take in all at once, but much of it resonates with me. I practice meditation, but not nearly to the extent he is talking about, although what little I have done gives me a glimpse into what he is talking about. It's hard to describe.
I was watching Les Miserables and something about how the message of the plot was portrayed and demonstrated brought on this sudden realization that fits exactly what he is discribing. It was like all at once I realized love is not a two way street and I want everyone to be happy; I will do what I can to make this so at whatever cost to myself I can afford.
I once had the soundtrack of this and it came at a very pivotal time in my life, shortly before I left the organization. I was very moved by Fantine ( I dreamed a dream). It opened up feelings that had been long buried, I realised how desperately unhappy I was. It was a few years before I began to meditate, but I credit that music for getting me to a certain place that allowed me to break free.

my advice, not that any politician would take it, would be to eliminate most agriculture in the state.
almonds, rice and alfalfa, are all thirsty water guzzling crops that neither those in california nor the rest of the nation needs.
Eliminating those crops would be a financial hit to the state, but it may be the only way to go. Some of the farmers got together to work out voluntary rationing. Some are tearing out older trees that take more water in the hopes of salvaging some of their younger trees. You feel bad for some of them, It's problematic for the almonds and other trees, you can't just let them die and plant when the drought I'd over (if that ever happens) it takes years to get a producing tree.
In the meantime I am hand watering some things with reclaimed water, we are taking shorter showers, and plan to put fake grass in the one small area we have grass and replace any remaining spray heads with drip. And we have instituted a "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down" plan. Or, as they said once in GB, "spare your blushes, share your flushes".
I am aiming for 30% reduction.

Everyone has their own path to follow, in the end it's up to you. I think you can see by now that you won't be able to get anyone else out, so the only thing left to decide is the manner and timing of your exit, the end result is pretty much the same, with the possible exception of family that will or will not be forced to shun you.
I can say the leaving itself is the hardest part, it is hard to lose friends abruptly. Once you get through that though you can start to rebuild your life. However hard that is, you will then have freedom to live life on your terms. Freedom is a wonderful thing, once you have tasted that you will wonder why you waited so long. Already you are changing, in ways big and small, so you will find you will have less and less in common with your JW friends. However much you may cherish them, the relationships cannot and will not be the same, so cherish the memories and begin to let them go.
Yeah, it's the deep end of the pool, but come on in, the water's fine!
