We put that little skit together over lunch the day we performed it at the Witnesses Now for Jesus conference. I can't speak for the others involved, but it was not my intent to trivialize anything. It was meant to show just how absurd the JW judicial system can be. I think that being able to poke fun at what we once viewed as sooooo serious can be part of the healing process.

I think it's a great idea. In the U.S. we need more of this for both girls and boys. I head up a test team in an R&D group. Two of the 6 test engineers on my team are women, one of our development managers is a woman and we have several other women engineers in our organization. Most of them were not born or educated in the U.S.

Can you say plagiarism?
by Mebaqqer2 inso i ran across this statement today in doing some research:.
take, for instance, the stories and legends regarding the origin of man.
although details vary, the belief that man was made from the dust of the earth is widespread.

Check out http://www.docbob.org/wordpress/?p=488 for some examples of the WT very closely copying artwork from a Seventh Day Adventist Bible Story book.
Also see http://www.bibletopics.com/biblestudy/86.htm for an example where the WT used an image from a Johnny Walker scotch ad on a magazine cover and later

Help: Re: Letter to elders NOT to disfellowship otherwise legal action will be taken
by LouBelle inhello there everyone.
i remember reading a while back about someone on here ( i think) that wrote a letter to the body of elders & headoffice that they should not take any action to disfellowship them as they would be distancing them from friends and relatives and would proceed to take legal action if the body of elders went ahead.. if anyone has that link or can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate that..

I was never contacted by the local elders after I wrote that letter in 1999. A friend who left a few years later told me that there was a local needs talk about my "situation" and that they did not mention me by name.
I am not a lawyer, but I would think that in the U.S. you could get some legal traction on the point that after you are announced as "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" that if you are treated differently than any other non-JW that it could be seen as an infringement of your civil rights.

That article, including the pictures appears to be copied from watchtower.org ( http://www.watchtower.org/e/19980708/article_01.htm ) which says that the article was originally printed in the July 8, 1996 issue of Awake!
I have the entire text of the Declaration of Facts, the Watchtower's letter to Hitler and an article on "The Watchtower and Hitler" on my website - www.docbob.org

Would you buy a 2 cylinder, 875cc petrol car that returns almost 70mpg?
by lifelong humanist ini've bought lots of cars over the last 35 years or so - mostly fiats and alfa romeos.
i'm a dedicated italian car fan.. my very first car was a tiny fiat 500 with a tiny air-cooled motor in the rear (trunk).
it was a 1967 car - they first appeared in 1957. it was cheap to run, slow, and very basic - but i just loved it!.

My latest set of wheels is an '08 Scion xB with a 5spd manual. I've put 23k miles on it since I bought it in Feb '10. It's more spacious than one might expect from looking at its exterior. It likes mid-grade gas and delivers a consistent 30mpg.

Taking legal action against the JWs for DFing??? Need serious advice
by 2pink ini posted a thread a bit earlier about our impending judicial committee/dfing for celebrating "false religious holidays".
they have seen decor on the outside of our house, so i guess that is their "evidence" that we engage in false religion now!
my husband and i have talked and are serious about taking legal action against the jws if they try to df us against our will.
