We always said that our pets hated JW's because they don't get ressurected to the paradise earth. Our dog would taunt us when we had to get dressed up and hurry to a meeting!!!

Children and school assembly
by dobbie inmy little child in the uk starts school soon.
i wasn't brought up a jw and am inactive but there are lots of other jw children going and apparently are'nt allowed to go to school assemblies.
i can't remember anything wrong with school assemblies and i think it's daft to keep my child in a separate room while its going on.

I have never heard of a child not getting to attend an assembly, unless it's similiar to a pep rally, which I have heard is off limits to some witness children. I have gone to my child's assembly and they do say the pledge and sing patriotic and school songs. Maybe that's the reason? Other than that it is just like a live verion of the morning announcements here.
Either way I would think it would be a conscience matter and not something you can be reproved for. But then I'm pretty rational....

How do the elders deal with a very poor brother or sister?
by JH inlets say a brother or sister loses their job, falls on welfare, doesn't have enough to eat.
what do the elders do?
a) tell them that the organization is not a place to beg but to preach, to give and not to receive.

We had a brother in our hall that was going through a divorce. He was living with his daughter's family but wanted to get a small home of his own and I guess the bank wouldn't give him a loan. I guess he expressed his financial "need" to some of the elders and the PO actually told him to ask my husband for a loan. We really didn't know this brother very well (he had never had two words to say to us) but he came to us for loan that was quite bit of $$$, said he would pay us back in a month at the most. After six months of the guy not even mentioning it, we were put in the uncomfortable position of not only asking for it, but having to keep asking for it.
We had to respectfully tell the PO that we weren't a bank and not to send brothers to us when they need a loan! Can you beleive that!!!! We are happy to help out where we can, but we don't have loads of extra cash just sitting around! Does anyone???

My son is in love with a puzzle
by mrsjones5 inyesterday i bought my son (he's 2, soon to be 3 tomorrow) a $1 puzzle of united states.
i bought it because we have a much bigger floor puzzle of the us but it's too big for him to keep trying to put together, it gets in the way.
he instantly fell in love with the puzzle.

Repetative prayer
by keo15929 ini hate to do this but i've got to say something about a certain elder that used to get me so annoyed when he prayed.
it's like he had his prayer prepared on a script with a few fill in the blanks here and there.
it's probably been over a year since i've heard him pray but i know his prayer by heart.

This is pretty bad, but there were a couple of brothers that would give the prayer regularly in our hall, and their voices just grated on my nerves. I can think of two in particular that were so pompous that I just kept thinking "you are such an a**hole!" the whole time they were praying!

Gimme 5 - if you went in field service today
by limbogirl infrom the world of dub inspired merchandise, i happened upon this little gem brought to us by cafe press.
it's the g5 or gimme 5 on-line store which sells apparel, coffee mugs and the like with phrases like, "gimme 5 - if you went out in field service today.
" my personal fave is the wall clock that says countdown to paradise.

JW at the door...thanks for the tips...
by mama1119 inthis morning we had a fleet of jw in the neighborhood and they came a knockin...my husband answered the door, (as they would have recognized me..he is "wordly").
we used some of the tips off of the "how to get rid of a jw thread" he kept asking them if they were with the jehovahs and if they were a jehovah, they kept correcting him bless their souls and he kept doing it.
then, when they tried to place the mags he said, "first can i get your address?

"first can I get your address?" She said "why", he said "So I may come to your house one morning and push my religous beliefs on you."
Very funny! Good for him!!!
