Keep in mind that any of the above myths apply equally as well to D&D, as it is the granddaddy of all RPGs. Likewise, some of these myths could have been applied to other RPGs that are similar to D&D in certain ways.

Fred Franz Discredited a GB Part I

today's history lesson .... fred franz discredited a "governing body".

the last page of the february 1, 1976, watchtower, was devoted to a notification entitled "governing body adjustments.

and so that's what happened with philip, how he became an evangelizer.

I remember being in the graduation class theatre (La Merc) and listening to these very words. How did you get the transcript?
I could kick myself for not having taped that Franz talk that day.
It was so obvious to me that Franz hated this development. I remember one week, as he sat at the table head sometime in 76 or 77 he wore a T-SHIRT to breakfast with the logo: "Where in the Hell is McCook, Nebraska?" the week after Sydlik announced that Bethelites (and especially table heads) should come to meals as if they were meetings (dressed up). Franz was flipping them the finger, and he did this many times.

i have a vivid memory of 1975 even though i was only 6 years old.

i remember the whispers and the fervor surrounding the year.

i even had an uncle who marked his calendar every day with big red xs proclaiming that he couldn't wait for "this evil system of things to end.".

I was listening to Fred Franz give his Gilead class lecture at the LaMerc Assembly hall in Queens, NY where all the Masonic logos are? were?

Franz was hyping up how we don't know the exact time of the Great Tribulation because of not knowing how long it was between Adam's creation and Eve's creation, which MAKES A VERY BIG DIFFERENCE!! lol

Headquarters of 'TBN'--vs. Brooklyn

i was in los angeles over the weekend (weather was gorgeous, what else is new?)..

we stayed in costa mesa at the westin south coast plaza, right off of the 405 and bristol street.. as we exited, imagine my surprise upon looking to the right hand side of the road and seeing a palatial looking building with the logo for the trinity broadcasting network diplayed!

wow, was it disgusting!.

I was on TBN several times in my pastor days, talking about Jehovah's Witnesses. On TV in the main evening show and on morning TV. They apparently would not let Walter Martin on the show because he stirred up too much re: their style, so Jan Crouch read my book ("Refuting Jehovah's Witnesses"), liked it, and said I could come on the show and say anything I wanted. :-))

They are a crazy bunch, reminds me of all the Word-Faith people in Texas. :-0

Nourishment for the Spirit

my observation is that persons who 1) heal/adjust the most rapidly from their jw experience and 2) seem to have the most joy in life are those who read, read, read, in pursuit of what i call nourishment for the spirit.

i've really enjoy the pithy aphorisms you use here, which suggests you've distilled some wisdom from somewhere.

i'm going to ask your help in this thread.
