looks like it is time to remind the flock that jwd is deathdealing.

this week service meetings are recycling old kingdom ministry articles regarding the danger of electronic communication such as the internet and email.. .

like i heard at a recent circuit assembly, "don't let your mouse turn you into a rat!".

At the meeting last night (yeah I'm still going...long story) the elder handling the part said,

"...in preparing this part I went to google.com and typed jehovah's witnesses in quotes and over a million apostate websites were found..."

The audience let out a loud gasp. Besides being a bit irritated by the exaggeration and drama, I was glad to hear him describe how to find the WTS' dirt. He went on to describe how some sites use quotes from the WT to damage/misrepresent the brothers...some sites post letters from Society and recordings of Kingdom Ministry schools.

Many of the points he mentioned were not in the referenced KMs, which leads me to wonder does this elder lurk this & similar boards? I never would have imagined.

because my now ex wife was molested by her dad back in the 60's (while he was an elder), my dad and i were talking when he got back about how the issue of molestation was heavily discussed.

he also tol dme that the society's stand on it had always been that of that it must be reported to the athorities.

that there had been a problem for too long of local elders being the ones to sweep it under the carpet, to protect a friend.

Slow Fade Progresses

i wanted to give everyone an update on the current state of my slow fade.

i live in an environment that is hostile to the slow fade so i usually speak in general terms.

this time i plan to give just a little bit more information so i can heal myself as i go through this process.. i have doubted for several years (about 3).

Congratulations on what you have accomplished so far. I am in nearly the same position you're in, I currently serve as an elder and only remain a JW because all of my family are JWs. A few years ago I turned in my resignation letter, but the BOE didn't accept it...they told me they would lighten my load until I felt ready to do more. That "rest period" only lasted a few months before duties were dumped back on me.

However, I'm finally at a breaking point. My wife and I had another argument this weekend related to the WTS. I'm supposed to give a public talk this coming Sunday, oversee a department at the upcoming Special Assembly in a few weeks, and do a part on the District Convention. I told my wife I can't do these things anymore...I can't pretend...everytime I give a talk or conduct the bookstudy I feel like a hypocrite. But I'm not doing a slow fade I'm quitting cold turkey.

I didn't conduct the WT Sunday, I didn't conduct the bookstudy last night, and I called the Talk Coordinator and told him I won't be giving the talk Sunday. My wife hasn't talked to me since Sunday night, and I'm not sure what the next few days will bring.

I hope you don't feel as if I hijacked this thread, I just wanted to let you know I understand what you're dealing with. Hang in there.

it was sent to elders in february 2002, after our last km school.. i scanned and posted this letter back in 2002, but with the influx of new posters this is a good time to bring this letter back to light.. it discusses field service, inactive publishers, shepherding, marital problems, child abuse, and other topics.

I'm still a JW because I don't want to mess up the family life. I figure all of us have to deal with bad situations in life, and some people have dealt with much worse...this is just a crazy situation I have to deal with.

Don't misunderstand...there are days when JW life/bad policies/etc. irritates me to no end and my blood pressure is through the roof. Maybe things will reach a critical point for me and I will be finished with it all, but until then I continue to do the elder-thang. At least as an elder I don't get too much of my conduct/decisions questioned, and I have a view of the inner workings of a unique organization. I've somewhat managed to juggle JW things with more important things in my life...hobbies, spending time with the family, doing NORMAL things.

As long as the WTS keeps a controlling grip on my family, I do what I can to make things uncomfortable for them online and locally.

What's the purpose of restrictions after reinstatement?

It is a scare tactic and control.

Leadership wants onlookers to know that if the rules are violated this is what will happen...during the period of DF the person will be shunned by family & friends, after reinstatement you still won't be a complete JW until the judicial committee deems you're ready.

Getting restrictions lifted is a bitch, the judicial committee tells the reinstated person they will monitor their progress and privileges will be given back over a period of time - of course field service is the first thing a person gets, then commenting, then talks, pioneering, mics/lit asst/mag asst for brothers, prayer for brothers. BUT the thing is most committees I know don't monitor the person, things are forgotten after the reinstated person is announced at the service meeting. The reinstated person most often will have to approach one of the elders on the committee after a few months and inquire about the privileges...he/she will get some line about how the elders are monitoring and will get back with him/her...after that meeting the elder will get with the other elders in a quick fashion and off the top of their heads decide which privileges to restore IF they even remember what is lacking. The entire process is asinine.

It is all about control. There isn't a scriptural basis.

The WTS sends a colored ID card for the KM School. Each time the "school" is conducted the color of the badge card varies. The recepient of the card has to write in his name and congregation, and when he arrives at the "school" he has to show it to the Attendants at the doors to gain entrance.

Usually elders from the same location are all gathered together laughing/talking, exhibiting much fanfare & excitement for the privelege they have to attend such a special meeting. They generally all know each other and there are no problems getting in; three or four "schools" ago I was able to get in without my badge card. Last "school" a brother from another circuit, in line in front of me, was able to get in without his card...some brother ahead of him vouched for him.

At the beginning of the "school" the headmaster makes an announcement that no recording devices are to be used. Will they do a frisk and search this year? I don't know, but I think I'll take my chances. These guys are amateurs it won't be too hard to record the program.

If there are two or three other elders reading this that are willing to record the program, we can make the contents of this sensitive meeting available to any that want it.

At least 3 years...

for some time now i've been searching the wts' publications for a policy that i clearly remember from my time as an elder.

but i just can't find it.

it was the one which stated that if someone--even a congregation servant--came forward and confessed to wrongdoing, there would not have to be a judicial committee, nor would a servant even need to lose his privileges--if at least three years had passed and the individual had put the sin behind him/her.

It was mentioned at the last KM School, and then followed up by BOE letter in 2002 or 2003. I think it was in the same letter discussing how to handle child abuse (call Legal Dept.), but I could be wrong.
