  I wonder what the Fremont congregation publishers and BOE will be thinking when they're on the hook for over a million dollars. I imagine some people are thinking about changing congregations if not religions!

  Good question cofty. Most congregations don't have $910,000 sitting around in a checking account. I wonder if WTS HQ will cover the local congregation's portion. Not to mention the punitive damages will be announced tomorrow.

  Wha - I forgot about the letter that was read to all congregations ahead of the Dateline news story. I imagine somebody up at WTS HQ is preparing a letter now to be read to all congregations spinning this latest happening.

  the wt has been found negligent and ordered to pay $7 million to a vistim of child abuse, plus punitive damages (not yet determined).. the punitive damages may well exceed the $7 million.

  There have been other settlements, but the plaintiffs couldn't discuss the details upon settling the case. With this particular case the details are being made public.

  They should admit error, apologize to all the victims of their policy and announce reforms.

  They will probably say that they abhor child abuse and that molesters have no place in the CCJW.

  Barbara - Thanks again for the update! Wonderful to hear the judge make that announcement.

  The WTS may have billions in holdings, but they do not have much in the way of liquid assets.

  LITS - this is legit, court documents are available online. You're correct, the elders running the WTS HQ are more concerned with the Org's image than with their flock. They care more about self preservation.

  I don't think this case and future ones will be enough to end the WTS, but it will hurt their image and balance sheet.

  This direction is given during the CO visits when he meets with the BOE, and also during the elder schools held every three or four years. COs would have something in writing...if only one of them would be brave enough to put it online.
