Earthquakes and rumors of war or whatever ;o)

i was so inspired by the ridicolousness of thirdwitnoid in that other thread ("the gentile times reconsidered again...but this time i am using the bible"), in which he actually dared bring up the old "increase in earthquakes"-fairytale from the wt and asleep.

it really had nothing to do in that thread, which was about 607 vs 587 (oh no, not that again.... datelocationdeathsmagnitude.

If that is the main criteria, Jehovah's Witnesses being around, then there is no other 90 year period.

The war deaths and earthquake deaths cannot possibly be the same. Population...The greatest wars man has ever seen happen now because those kind of wars WERE NOT POSSIBLE before. There can be no world war if you can't freely travel across the world.--????? Why is that not obvious? Those same stats can be used for anything. What about "There has been more infant deaths since 1914?" There are more infants!!! "There have been more haircuts since 1914 than ever." There are more heads!

Never before have we seen such war, famine, etc.--yes. Why? Never before have we seen so many quickie divorces by celebrities. Why?

Never before have we seen what each ruler of each nation had for breakfast this morning.--Why?

We know everything that happens right from our living rooms.

What about The Mongolians? Compared to the population of the Earth then and now was that not a huge war? The entire continent was at risk. If they had B-52's wouldn't they have branched out even further?

Bottom line is that this is EXACTLY what drives people away. Not thinking freely...Eating ANY "spiritual" food that is given, and then driving it into others heads like it is law. The WTBTS's law IS man's law. Unless they are prophets. THE most inaccurate prophets the world has ever known.

And just like the technology to bring war and communication, that same technology is what is bringing people away from the WTBS.

I really am sorry I responded to this again as it is like discussing politics. When someone has stock in an organization, there is no talking to them no matter how clear cut it is.

Once again, thanks for reminding me why I will never go back and why I will always fight to keep others away. ANYTHING other than a controlling man made religion. Hmmm, how about if you believe in God, try THE BIBLE. I know that is a crazy idea to study the Bible without man's input. But maybe that is what it is for, to settle the speculation, not start it.

Just when I thought I've seen it all, there it is. I remember this story and I also remember thinking "wooooow".

It's amazing the things I've forgotten over the years. And what's more amazing is how those "normal" things are now so strange.

It's addicting to here that stuff because I can't wait to be reminded of some other rule, story, or "scientific fact'" that I forgot about.

It is almost like talking to a hypnotist who is unlocking memories long tucked away.

What if you could have your JW membership annulled?

i was thinking what a stampede there would be to do that-what if they made a special announcement at the kh next month, that anyone who felt they had made a mistake in getting baptised could request an annullment.

their name would be removed from the wt records and they would be treated like someone who had never been a baptised witness.. this offer is good for one month only, hurry in to your local kh while this offer is still available.- remember the deadline for this special program is october 31st!.

i think maybe, i've been watching too many end of the year 2006 model new car clearance commercials!.

Although that sounds ridiculous, it really is not. It's actually the right thing to do for us, the loving thing to do.

But that's asking to much, I guess.

Plus it would be like surrendering to them.--imo They'd watch us coming in to "sign out" with their arms folded like we are starving to death and they are showing us pity.

JW gets saved at the flea market.

this video is about 12 minutes long.

a young woman that says in the very beginning that she is a jw, is stopped at the flea market and witnessed to by someone that is encourging her to be 'born again'.

at the end of the video he prays with her and she accepts jesus as her savior.. the video says they are in raleigh nc maybe someone will reconize her.

Maybe, just maybe it's a God thing and He's just using the born agains as His vessels like He did Peter and Paul and those other guys in Acts.

They have changed their tactics in last 5 years.

Not trying to brag, but I am very at ease now with witnessing, having been saved by the Lord over six years ago. I hated to 'witness' as a witness, sharing my religion as I am now sharing Jesus under the power of the Holy Spirit. Friends in ministry recognized the boldness after it came upon me suddenly following a particulary amazing prayer session with a fellow believer.

When you see a group claiming to be the 'only true Christians' or they harbor heretical doctrines that is the tip off that they are cults hiding behind the Bible.

I'm not trying to dog anyones beliefs, but this sounds all too familiar. JMHO

I'm sure they already have....many times. And I'm certain it's been discussed within the family.

One can only hope. Now maybe I can work on watering that seed.

What do the endless debates with ThirdWitness etc prove?

there are currently long debates going on with 3w about the subtle meaning of words and how they are supposed to prove the wts has the correct doctrine.

even as a jw i always noticed that it was impossible to prove a doctrine to people in the field.

the fact that 2 christians can discuss topics endlessly without any conclusion shows me that god can not possibly be going to destroy every non jw simply because they could not be convinced of watchtower doctrine.. the bible says very little about doctrine, besides pauls discussions to show jesus is our ransomer and means for everlasting heavenly life.

Personally, I think it's good for someone like 3W to be here because it is a reminder of what that one sided mindset smells like.

When I read 3W's post it sets my ideas into concrete. Something strange is going on when there is that kind of blind faith in man.

Maybe 3W has doubts and wants to make sure by playing the crusader when he's really the inquisitor. This way he can 'check up' on the witnesses without feeling guilty.

They weren't recorded like they are now. In the middle ages they didn't know if there was an earthquake outside of there immediate area.

American Indians didn't record earthquake statistics.

The Vikings didn't record earthquake statistics.

The FACT is, now, EVERY earthquake is recorded. If it happens in Timbuktu, we know. If it happens at the South Pole, we know.

It is SO obvious there will be more earthquakes on record because now there IS a record.

Before 1914 how many earthquakes went unrecorded?

How about from 1914 to 2006?

Would it not be an honest opinion that with the new technology, way less go undetected?

It is very simple. Let me say that I am not a JW basher. I respect anyone's beliefs. I was born and raised a JW and have no need to shoot down anything. I'm fine. I'm not laying in an alley with a whiskey bottle shouting anti JW sentiments. The fact is, when researching a scientific fact, one must seek info from a wide array of sources. Researching material given out by an organization who's ideas are pointed in one direction is not enough. Just like if you only researched so called 'Apostate' sources. It works both ways. Research EVERYTHING and EVERY scenario. The 'blinders' MUST be removed to observe the surroundings. Only then can the truth be found.

If an 7.0 earthquake happened in New York city today 2006, how many would die?

What if it happened in 1006? How many would die?

And CNN wouldn't be there to broadcast it. (obviously)

To say the 'JW's wrong about earthquakes' THEORY is to be put to rest is pretty scary. When obvious science and common sense tells you something and you argue it to the bone, maybe something is wrong. Maybe your info is biased. Just consider MAYBE.

If you grew up in The Middle East, you'd be arguing for their beliefs.

I am not picking on anyone, but as a friend and fellow imperfect man I am only saying that there is always maybe. That's all--maybe
