I would collect rare antiquities such as Egyptian artifacts and Bible memorabilia, among other things.

Shelley, you are one of the nicest people on this board and would be sorely missed. I am glad we aren't missing you today!!!
Yeah Shelley, I'm new here but I've noticed your posts. There are a few people who stand out to me when they post and you're one of them.
I certainly can't take credit for saving you but you can take credit for saving others so you being gone would jeopardize that. They say the best way to keep your sanity is to give it away. You are definitely a piece of this beautiful puzzle and you are an important one.
For all of our sakes and most importantly yours 'just keep breathing.' When I was down and out that was my motto. As long as you're breathing you've got a shot.

I just had a very interesting phone call from the JC
by hambeak ini got a call today from a member of the judicial committee asking if i would meet with them.
i asked them what for?
i was told it was about my asking questions about wts involvement with the un and bethel layoffs and my getting information from an apostate website.. i told them i have never attended their kh and had been inactive for more than 20 years and no longer accepted their authority and they no longer had a control over my mind or what i read or say or do.

What's crazy is when they hear of someone asking questions about the org, they automatically say "They must have been on an apostate website." And in the eyes of active JW's this statement shoots down any fact. As soon as that "Apostate" tag is placed on it then it's no longer fact. They make it seam like the "Apostate" sites are giving out 100% false info. As a matter of fact, if the word Jehovah or Russel or WTBTS&UN or any JW type word is on the internet, it's apostate.
This would mean that the entire internet has no info on court cases or lectures or official government documents regarding JW's except "Apostate" sites.
I think they picture an evil "Apostate" rubbing his hands together and laughing like Dracula while he makes up a bunch of lies. They probably can see him saying, "Come to me my children and we shall join forces against Jehovah and his chosen people in the great battle of Armageddon." In their mental image there is probably a dark room with a cpu shining light on his evil face.
BTW--I take offense to that word because I know how they view it. I remember seeing an "Apostate" walking down the road when I was little and thinking I had just seen Satan himself. Now I realize he was just a regular guy who happened to ask questions. Back then if he came near me I probably would have ran.
Don't worry about it Hambeak. It's a made up punishment. It's irrelevant to the entire world except for them. You can still associate with about 6 Billion people or so.

The Tapestry of Life
by cruzanheart ini'm almost 51. lately i've "seen" things differently.
i don't know if i can express it properly, but i thought this forum might be a good place to start.. .
when i was in art class in 10th grade, i had a wonderful teacher, mrs. brown, who once upon a lazy warm day, showed us how to start a picture with a center: circle, square, whatever.

Just got this e-mail in case there are any r/c-model buffs out there.
This 1/9th scale radio-controlled C-17 model was built in the United
Kingdom. To date it has about 20 flights. It was built as the
centerpiece of a 15 program television series produced in the U.K. for
the Home and Leisure satellite TV channel. Built with the aid of three
friends, it took one
year to build and is powered with 4 Jetcat P-120 turbines with a total
thrust of 108 lbs. The models weighs over 250 lbs fuelled, and carries
12.5
liters (3.3 US gallons) of 95% kerosene and 5% turbine oil fuel. Other
details include 5 Futaba PCM receivers, 16 battery packs (93 cells), 20
Futaba servos, on board air compressor, electro/pneumatic retracts, etc.
Wingspan is 20 feet 8 inches, and the top of the fin is 74 inches (6
feet 2
inches) above the ground. Takeoff weight is 264 lbs. The rear cargo
doors open and they drop an r/c jeep on a pallet, as well as 2 free-fall
r/c parachutists. The model also has smoke systems both of the inboard
turbines, and uses 2.4 GHz data link to provide real-time data to a
laptop computer on the ground while in flight, this data includes
airspeed, turbine RPM, EGT, fuel consumption, etc. It is covered in
fiberglass and epoxy resin. Built mainly from balsa and ply, with many
glass and carbon fiber
moldings to reduce weight. This C-17 Globemaster III is one of the
largest jet models in the world today! Complete with retractable
landing gear and pneumatically operated flaps. -

Exorcism...........
by ButtLight ini have always wondered since i was a kid, why, say catholic priests, can do this, if they arent directed by gods holy spirit.
and of course we were tought they were false religions, and that its satans work to mislead us.
do you believe that they can actually cast demons out of someone, or that a person can even become demonized?
-
monkeyshine
....but alot of them are based on true stories
Buttlight, what you have to understand is that the person who said it was a true story wants you to believe that. THEY are telling the story so THEY say it really happened. Whether they are lying or they are a little mental and actually believe it is the real question.
If someone has a problem with mental illness and doesn't know it, whatever they see is real to them. Reality is in the eye of the beholder. It is relative.
If you saw something that was in your imagination, yet it looked like you could reach out and touch it, you would say it was real. YOU saw it. You actually saw it and no one could tell you different. Because to you, in your mind, you DID see it.
Now, if 50 other people were in the room, and they did not see it, then you'd have to ask yourself "Am I crazy, or am I the only sane one here?" But then, and only then, would you question it. Otherwise you would take it your grave as concrete proof.
The human mind is a strange place. We do not know what it holds. Back in the 1950's man thought they had it down pretty good. But they were not close to what we know now. What was considered scientific fact then, is garbage now. (Not all of it of course)
Today we think like they did in the 1950's. "We figured it out." But like them, we have much to learn. One day they will look back at a lot of our science and scoff. Just like we scoff at ancient civilizations and the explanations they had for what was going on in the world.
Just my opinion of course
