probably more so than the population in general in my opinion.. if you have been divorced, do you think that the watchtower society contributed to the divorce, or caused it, or is it just possible you married some jerk or abuser and divorce would have occured no matter what religion you were, or even if you had no religion?.

possibly you got married way too young as the end was coming and there is no marriage in the resurrection if you died.

Just thinking back...my-jw-elder-ex-father-in-law was the main pusher in my 1st divorce. My parents tried to talk us out of it, and wanted to see us make it work. His parents came over and moved him out, called me a whore and I almost got into hand to hand combat with my cookoo mother-in-law. Then there was the relentless elders meetings and bullshit. Ahhh, I miss those days. NOT.

I have been married /divorced twice.
1st ex hubby was a jw, we were young- 19& 22 - fooled around a lot had sex, married in 9 months. We split up 4 months later, elders came over to 'counsel' us and found out about the fornication part (his big mouth, I was fine keeping our secret) we were dfd. He is the father of my son. We did ok for a while, then fell aprt all over again with cheating on both sides. We divorced after a total of 2 years of marraige.
I definitely blame th WBTS for these young marraiges. You meet someone, maybe fall in love or don't, but it's a natural part of life to be a sexual being, and they make it out to be so evil and disgusting.
I can say I truly loved this man. He was never abusive, never domineering, just loved me plain and simple. We were way way too young to even think about settling down.
2nd ex hubby was just a big bad mistake. Never a wittness. But was alcoholic, controlling and emotionally abusive. The only good thing I can say about this one is I have a beautiful daughter because of him.
I wish sometimes I could start over like a 'normal'person, but I feel even through all this crap I am a better person for it. And I have fantastic kids that have made me grow up and deal with the crap.

Questions for those born or raised in the truth

It was very hard.
There was no playing with the neighbor kids or friends from school. No after school classes or activities. (All I wanted was to play drums and soccer. Dad said no. Worldly association.) No birthdays or holidays or sport related school things like the football games or dances even if during school hours. We (my sisters and I) went to school with a handful of other jws which made it easier to sit in the counselor's office while everyone else cheered on our team. But then again those jw kids ended up being backstabbing holier than thou hypocritical brats.
Other kids either felt bad for us or thought we were weird. I had a couple friends that always gave me a little X-mas or birthday present.
Having a boy as a friend was as frowned upon as dating. We were tomboys so most friends were boys and we constantly got counseled on that.
They assumed (the elders) that every boy was a soon-to-be-lover.
I read a post about finding work while still in school. That was difficult because of availability. And I had to drop yet another night because of family study which always seemed to be on masturbation. My father had issues.
When I got into highschool I wanted so badly to be an artist. But of course as we all know, it's foolish to consider going to school. I was never encouraged to follow my dreams or pursue a passion. My parents told me that if I married a bethalite possibly I could get myself into the art department for the WBTS. Oh yeah!! Really??? This was the worst part of being raised a jw. No support or parental back-up to BE SOMEBODY. Follow your heart. It was always get married, pioneer.
I never really found out that it was all a lie. I always questioned it in my heart. After I left for personal reasons, it became easier and easier for me to see the lies and deception. I only found JWD a couple months ago and I'll say it again and again, I love it. I never knew YOU people were out there!!
I am so relieved that I am out and my kids will never have to experience that life.
