Nobody ever ask me what religion I am. Its not an issue, ever. Probably the only people that would ask you that would have alterior motives to convert you. In the 23 years I have been out of the organization no one has ever asked me that question. You need to become a new man and change your thinking. Most people out in the world are not thinking about religion, at least not as a jw does 24/7 they think about it maybe on Sunday, if they go to church

for atheists/agnostics
by BlackSwan of Memphis inhow did you get to the point where you are at now?
was it primarily new information that made you rethink religion and god?

I think life is a journey and when one awakens they realize where they are now and continue on the journey. The kingdom hall is a place that stiffles ones senses and lulls them into sleep.
point two everybodys working an angle I think the lawyers call it quid quo pro. Whats in it for you?
I spent 31 years at the hall before I awoke enough to leave. I would never go back. I have night mares still about having to go to a boring meeting. And the last time I was in a hall was 1983.
I think the catalyst to what woke me up was 1975 as I was a teenager and it altered my life plans and direction. I didnt take school seriously, no college. I pioneered instead of bettering myself and family, wife and child. By 1983 with no armegeddon their house of cards fell down in my life and I walked away.

Have you heard, "There are people worse off than you, stop complaining!"
by WingCommander inthis was a typical response to any kind of complaint or sharing of a personal situation with anyone in the congregation.
instead of offering up some kind of physical or emotional support, almost 100% of the time me and my family would get the old:.
"don't you know that there are brothers worse off than you in the world, whom are truly hurting?

Wing commander: this is a life lesson. You have to look to yourself for strength and answers to deal with your problems. No one else, no organization, no religion. Dont complain, keep your mouth shut and dont look to anyone else for encouragement. This will take you far where ever you go on this journey.

Dont look for any encouragement on how to have a good and successful life at the kingdom hall or from anyone who goes to one. The hall is a dark hole. And the people who enjoy going there are lifeless zombies.

An attitude of gratitude is a good thing. And counting your blessings is essential also. The worlds religions take the wisdom of the world and confound it, they twist it all up, they take the joy out of it.

My idea of a perfect day. I work midnights. I get home at 7:30 have a glass of red wine for my heart and to relax me, I look at my computer for a bit. I am in bed by 8:30am. I sleep till 2pm get up eat some fruit and coffee play my guitar for a half hour, then I go to the gym and exercise for an hour. Come home look at the computer some more, play my guitar some more, wait for my wife to come home and eat dinner, I do the dishes make my lunch for work. That is pretty much my perfect day. Nothing exciting actually kind of boring. But its familiar.

COFFINS in the Kingdumb hall.....
by kid-A ini recall going to several jw funerals as a small kid where the coffin had been brought into the hall, a service that must have been provided by.
the funeral parlour.
however, since the early 80s, i have never again attended a jw funeral with a casket present in the hall.

I went to meetings from 1952 to 1983 I never saw a coffin in a Kingdom hall. I thought they just had memorial services with out caskets.

Hello This is my first time posting here. I lurked about 30 days, 1 month. My log in name is jaguarbass. It has nothing to do with fishing. It has to do with music as in a bass guitar made by fender. I am a musician among other things. I am 53 years old. I was raised as a witness. What a terrible experience! I left the organization in 1983 at about 31 years old. My wife left about 10 or so years latter. Many of my in laws are still stuck on stupid. My mother and brother left about 10 years ago. My father was never a witness. He even used to burn all my mothers literature when I was a child, but she persisted. I pioneered for a year. Was a ministerial servant for a couple of years. I probably gave about 10 public talks. By the time I was 31 too many things didnt add up. I new I could not let the blind lead me. I started researching by reading books as their was no internet that I was aware of. I found many inconsistencies and contradictions in the organization. I then read the bible cover to cover 5 times making notes and reading about 3 different translations. I am now at the point where I feel the bible is full of contradictions and it is used to controll the masses. Its a great con game. I really dont know the purpose or meaning of life, or where man came from, Other than I know any who tries to answer these questions for me doesnt know the answers either. Maybe its a journey. I have some hypothesises that I may share down the road but there only that. No one gets out alive! I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. I Moved to Florida in 1981 and have been hear ever since. Just another day in paradise. I have been away from the troof for so long that much of my anger has melted. Maybe its just being 53 years old. By the way my wife and I were never disfelloshiped We just walked away. I would recomend walking away to getting disfellowshiped as family member can still interact with you. I am going to a family picnic on labor day probaly 90% witnesses. I am only going to please my wife, she just wants to spend some time with her family. And they are my inlaws. For the most part we all have a civil nontheocratic relationship. Dont answer the door when the witnesses nock and screen your phone calls eventually they all just fade away. When I see a witness who is not a family member I just treat them as a worldly person, just a passerby not a long lost friend. If you dont give them a chain, they cant yank it. Well I got to go to sleep now. I work midnights talk to you all later.
