JW Citizenship to another country
by dawgfan ini've always wondered how jws get around the citizenship process when moving to another country.. example: here in the us, to my understanding, all naturalized citizens have to take the oath of allegiance.
also i read that there are similar things that other countries require.. the us oath.
"i hereby declare, on oath, that i absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which i have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that i will support and defend the constitution and laws of the united states of america against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that i will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that i will bear arms on behalf of the united states when required by the law; that i will perform noncombatant service in the armed forces of the united states when required by the law; that i will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that i take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me god.".

Thanks for the info
Acadin:
That's what I don't understand either. Even though a JW might not be required to take an oath, wouldn't even just applying for citizenship be against the Society's policies because of what the definition of citizenship is? I mean I was born in the US. Because of that I didn't have a choice to be a citizen of the US but if i went to another country becoming a citizen would be an option.

I've always wondered how JWs get around the citizenship process when moving to another country.
Example: Here in the US, to my understanding, all naturalized citizens have to take the Oath of Allegiance. Also I read that there are similar things that other countries require.
The US oath
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."
But I know of JWs who have gained citizenship here (and some that are in process of) and I wondered how they get around this but never asked.
Can anyone explain this to me? (for US and any other Countries)

Burning Incense might be a Sin
by sammielee24 inthe wt website now has an article on burning incense.
yes - pretty soon i'm sure they'll be telling you how to trim your toenails.
i'm surprised that they still allow dancing at weddings actually, since we know that dancing was so paganistic and led to wild, animalistic sex.

I think that its not so much as that they really care about incense but more of an attack against religions that use incense in services. Warning against that whole false religion stuff.

The JW fall campaign about false religion
by NowImFree ini just wanted to find out if any of you have had strange experiences confronting jw family members about this brochure.
i am asking because there have been two case of child molestation in my family both perpetrated by jw elder's sons and then covered up.
we have also had a suicide in my family - my oldest brother killed himself after been disfellowshiped and shunned for years.
-
dawgfan
I'm thinking that it is kind of backfiring and having unintended consequences. Since so many people got the brochure, I'm seen a lot of discussion on several message boards (religious and non religious) that I am a member of. A lot of people that had no idea what JWs believe but had a lot of questions have gotten a lot of insight of the watchtower teachings that they never would have before. --------the list of potential converts are getting slimmer because of it.

Jesus man, it's a dog. Let her have it, make her cough up a few things for it, go buy yourself two new puppies, and move on with life. Believe me I wish I could have this attitude.
