"M" is for "Memorial"
by OnTheWayOut inmany weeks ago, i apparently put "m" on today's date- wednesday, march 23rd, in my google calendar.
it was supposed to remind me that the memorial that jehovah's witnesses observe would be held today.
i was flipping through my calendar this past weekend and asked my wife "what in the world is 'm' for (that day)?

Undercover, see. Just like a JW forgetting Mother's Day. Except no second thought of "Should I feel bad?" -

Pshycos! - 2016 "Remain Loyal to Jehovah" Regional Convention Program
by thedepressedsoul inwow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

People tend to forget general information from any convention, so there's a strong theme.
Loyalty is another way of saying "OBEY US!!!" That's all they care about people remembering.
"Don't question us, don't listen to anything negative about us, be loyal to us."
I see your point on "Shun." Some JW's have managed to even deny that such a thing exists while they do not speak to their families. So they might feel a need to bring in the word because so many "weak" "unloyal" ones are not shunning DA / DF'ed ones. I doubt that will be applied to inactive ones, at least in the minds of members. Unrepentant wrongdoers would have to be DF'ed/DA'ed. Otherwise, they could be repentant or maybe even not wrongdoers. It's a vicious thought train to get on.But I might be wrong. I am sure they will mention inactive ones. But all their mentions in the past have done little if anything to change them and their members' treatment of such ones. We will see.

My mother has nervous breakdown because we missed the memorial.
by cookiemaster inmy parents insisted that i'd take them to the memorial.
my cousin said he'd come too and another brother who doesn't have a car begged to join.
i was dreading having to go through exactly the same thing again.

Sorry to read of your mother's problem. Thanks for sharing otherwise. I wonder why Johoba didn't make sure y'all could get there, you know- like sending someone who cares with 4-wheel-drive. -

Lostwun, I was trying to organize JRK and me going to an AC/DC concert tonight and then, if invited, having such a far-from-acceptable-yet-honest excuse. Well, AC/DC had to cancel the concert and it fell through anyway as an excuse. You know what- zing him with a good one. "So sorry, but I am cutting down on wine and crackers." -

Poztate, it's a good thing. It's a good thing. Try saying it as a mantra. I didn't get the call, but an elderly lady from the local Spanish congregation rang and rang my bell to give me an invitation on Saturday. But she didn't know about the evil fader living here. -

JRK, I have tried to have that same upbeat attitude about them not calling ever since my second year out when they did not call. It's a good thing. -

Many weeks ago, I apparently put "M" on today's date- Wednesday, March 23rd, in my GOOGLE Calendar. Just "M"
It was supposed to remind me that the Memorial that Jehovah's Witnesses observe would be held today. I was flipping through my calendar this past weekend and asked my wife "What in the world is 'M' for (that day)?" She knew without really stopping to think. "It must be the Memorial."
Stay out long enough and you won't even remember. It's sort of like when an active JW forgets birthdays and holidays and accidentally wears green on St. Patrick's Day.
It also helped me to forget because early this year, I read some link where "they" were going to make a special effort to invite inactive ones to the Memorial this year. It was supposed to be such a special effort that I was sure I would be invited. Well, I should remember how thrilled the average JW is in their special efforts. Especially the elders, as I am sure that rumors of my powers of persuasion would prevent anyone spiritually weaker than an elder to call upon me. HA!
I will maybe go see a movie or just be out of the house this evening.
So I just wanted a forum thread about not going, not remembering, or telling family why you aren't going, or even going just to appease a loved one. Tell me about your day today and what you feel or have to deal with.

Lost on how to respond...
by babygirl30 inso an old friend of mine from the congregation hit me up today.
the story goes like this when we were jw's:.
- this guy used to be madly in love with me but i didn't see him as anything more than a friend.

Your response (on page 4) is totally awesome. Reaches right out there to show him that he put the cult first. -

God said be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and govern it.
by atomant inl have a problem with this.lf adam and eve didnt sin the earth would eventually have been full to the brim with perfect human beings.then what every man gets the chop or no more sex?then on the other hand we have the jw's sayingresurrected ones will not be allowed to marry in the earthly new system.. married survivors of armageddon will remain married.
single survivors of armageddon may or may not be allowed to marry.so it seems that people reborn into new system wont be able to procreate.
and married survivors will stay married so l assume that means they can still hanky panky and have babys thats a bit unfair..the earth can only accommodate a maximum number of humans then what for the married couples.

I started to comment on the OP, but it's like trying to discuss how Santa Claus can get down the chimney in homes without a fireplace.
