Expanding number of DC/RC's

according to my elder in law, by next year the number of dc/rc's will increase by 143. the size of conventions will get smaller.

the elder in law says the goal is to make them all have around 2,000 or so at each.

they are going to make more manuals detailing each job and it's responsibilities.

EyesOpenHeartBroken2 days agoIf they cut it to 2 days, they could even hold 2 RCs per weekend...Friday/Saturday and Sunday/Monday.
They could reduce set up time and cost of venues and rake in 2 weekends worth of cash in one.
Arghhh..did I just give them a good idea...?

Stop giving them such good advice. RC's in an Assembly Hall are to hide the lack of attendance, but mainly for keeping the money in-house. Simple as that. Once they are sure they can get the same money for two-days, three-day events are history.

millie2102 days agoYes, if they make the big summer assembly seem like the old circuit assemblies then where is the excitement?
Besides, isnt this one of the ways to marry off their young people? Let them see each other at the "big" assembly?
I remember the young people used to do the promenade round and round in those big ole coliseums!

They don't care about members being "excited." Or a better answer- They see the young ones leaving anyway.

UPDATE: My existential crisis comes to a close

in case you read my other thread regarding my existential crisis and how it was making my life miserable and left me feeling hopeless, purposeless and joyless i though i'd share what's recently happened to me and my way of thinking and have i've for the time being resolved my existential crisis.

i write every day in a journal.

i've been doing this for years.

My existential crisis came from my "stability" being built on an eggshell foundation. I had given God credit for saving my life from a bullet and dragging me out of my lifestyle choices to "The Truth."

When that turned out to be a lie, my foundation (built upon for nearly 2 decades) simply collapsed.

Starting over again, I got through the stages of grief at losing the God I thought I knew. I finally figured out that it is I (myself) that saved my life. I chose to live and the fairytale God was my security blanket until I could let go of it and be a mature person who looks at things sceptically.

The actual deep truth, based on facts and reality, doesn't care what anyone believes or change based on false beliefs. There is much to ponder and learn and one can find a comfort from true knowledge and science that is way better than the fairytales and security blanket. It is a pearl for the finding when you are ready.

- in which european country, not member of the eu, and well known for their banking industry, jw.org and some affiliated structures do maintain some business incorporated structures and companies?.

- which is the purpose of these business and company structures?.

This thread certainly is VERY DARK AND CONFUSING INFO.

If I was "famous" on Swahili forums, I would at least link to the Swahili forum and if anyone is interested in your very dark and confusing (lack of) info, they could google translate.

But I will say this:

- Off the coast of which country of the world, well known for maple syrup exportation, can you find an iceberg where no JW's have ever been?

- Why the hell should we know the answer or care?

How do you deal with depression?

i'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.

ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.

my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

BlackWolf, I try real hard to give advice within the boundaries of what someone will listen to and/or actually do. I won't tell someone to go to the emergency room for "depression" and problems with an eating disorder if they won't go. I will scream it if they are thinking of hurting themselves or others.

I won't say you should try to get more medication if that's not what you want. People do need to know that meds change you in good and bad ways. You seem to know that and don't like more meds. Okay.

So, you can go to the meetings and put in some bogus token "service" or you can leave at 18. Leaving at 18 is not as terrible as it sounds. It would be an excellent time to reach out to some college and have them help you find the counseling you need while you also figure out future short-term and long-term goals about where to live, work, and further your education.

It would help if there are any non-JW relatives willing to let you crash at their home until you find a way, but not impossible for you if that's not the case.

Before this time, you need to get a grip on that depression and stay busy. You need to work, exercise. Just think how ready you can be. No matter what, you can be ready for the opposite sex if you exercise.

The road is rough, but not impossible. You can do it. Sure, you will have money problems for years, but so many of us have them anyway. You will find your way.

So Are Inactives officially SHUNNED?

i've read here that inactives are the same as disfellowshipped, treatment wise.

is that correct or did i misread it??

Okay, I read the great comments so far. I am going to go with Blondie, the first person to answer on page 1.

I don't think it is official but I am sure they are viewed as bad association and that jws should limit their contact with them except for spiritual activities, meetings, field service, conventions/assemblies; but nothing social. But I don't think jws are df'd themselves for associating with inactives unless something more serious is going on.

While I share that answer, I will go a wee bit stronger.
NO, Inactive ones are not shunned. It is not official policy. It is just being strongly hinted at, and will largely be ignored by family members as long as it is only hinted at. I don't think a study article will come out that does any more than the hinting.

If they say "Shun inactive ones," who determines who that is? Will people be in front of a judicial committee for not shunning them? If I go to one meeting every 6 months and turn in 1 hour of recruiting time every 6 months, am I just "irregular" and not "inactive," allowing my mother to ignore the shunning requirement?

The best they will do is to say that inactive ones who are a disruptive influence (or some similar term for "they SHOULD be DF'ed, but we haven't been able to do so) should be avoided.

once upon a time i started a thread who is your favorite thinker and got many responses.

however revisiting that thread i noted we were to modest to name ourselves or fellow posters.

i therefore think we are either complete idiots, or modesty aside we should now name names, and restrict our answers to posters on the board.. so who on this board is your favorite thinker and why?.

I love so many thinkers here. But sticking to one, I will go with one that best fits the subject matter. When it comes to understanding all things JW, and getting that the only thing that matters in doctrine is what is written in the Watchtower articles, then the lady who finds those things is Blondie.

Barbara Anderson also understands all things JW very well and has excellent thinking on the subject.

I won't go on and on but there are tons of good debaters here.

The 1975 Generation---are they still around?

i was raised as a jw and 1975 expectations were pretty intense.

as i recall, most people did not leave after the failed expectations but many s l o w e d down.

now, i think most of the 1975 witnesses are gone or barely in.. is the older generation still around in the kingdom halls or are they much gone?.

My mother is still an active JW. But she seems to be at a point where, even though she is very familiar with the doctrine, she is discouraged to even attempt to recruit people.

i only mention that because it is relevant in this situation.
