Video: Surprise Reunion After 10 years of Shunning
by NuzzleNudge inhttps://youtu.be/ribgldualbm.
my husband hadn’t seen his sister for 10 years.
we were jehovah's witnesses and thanks to their disgusting, arbitrary brainwashing, 10 years of loving our family was wasted shunning them.

Min- He’s directed (illegally) millions of dollars from
US taxpayers “.... prove itHere's the thing. I shouldn't have to prove it. Even if it was technically legal, you very well know it is happening and then you just excuse it.
And despite my not being a fan of Biden, instead of looking at yourself excusing it, you will just say "What about Joe?"

Min- "...he certainly has put America first."
I wanna walk away, but I just can't.
As of Jan 1st, 2020 Trump has spent one out of every three days as president visiting one of his luxury resorts, hotels or golf courses. So of course the lock down drove him nuts.
He has directed millions of dollars from U.S. taxpayers to his businesses around the globe and created a mountain of potential conflicts of interest. Even though what Biden is accused of with Hunter is terrible, it pales in comparison.
Trump has promoted his properties in front of the United Nations. And he has encouraged foreign governmental entities to rent condos in Trump properties....and they do so as they seek to curry favor. Trump has literally called the emoluments clause "phony." In September, USA TODAY, said that Trump has surpassed 2300 conflicts of interest, according to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. Remember when he wanted the G-7 Summit at his Miami resort? And when you get a chance, check on Jared and real estate dealings, or why he wants the FBI building to stay where it is despite the higher cost than moving it.
Just as he said Mexico would pay for the wall, Donald Trump promised to divest from his businesses, then said he didn't say that.

Why don’t couples have to remarry when becoming JWs?
by enigma1863 inyou have to get baptized even if you were baptized in several other religions so why don’t they require you to remarry your spouse, especially if you were married as a mormon or muslim and had multiple wives.
some countries legally allow polygamy so you couldn’t necessarily just go by the laws of the country right?
these problems probably never come up though because i bet not many flds or muslims become jws.

They don't rent out the hall for weddings and funerals, so why would they want a bunch of newbies using the hall for free to have a wedding.
Plus, they probably have some hang ups about people already living together (in a legally recognized marriage) perhaps with children, and then denying that they are married in God's [Watchtower's] eyes.

Trump continues to dog whistle to the haters.
He offers much more to them to show up on election day than Biden offers to his own base.
Still, so many have woken up to the facts that Trump has just been devisive and self centered and has totally botched COVID19, that even without Biden offering much, many will vote to end Trump's time.
So it is a toss-up. I hope Trump supporters keep thinking it is in the bag and Biden supporters keep thinking it is not a sure thing.

Resolution passing with zoom
by jonahstourguide inhi folks.. i put this in practices as i thought that appropriate.
perhaps it should be in scandalous behavior.
not a big deal but an example of the cult-ish intimidation and behavior.. at the end of this mornings short wt review prior to the convention brainwash by jackson, ( melbourne australia) the elder stated "brothers we have a resolution to present to the congregation".

Wow, its just about always been this way, but to outright say that the elders will help you understand the reasoning behind this- that sure sounds like a warning not to raise your hand.
I might have done it anyway. I was slow to leave but was waking up in my last few years.

So...what do you think about The United States of America?
by minimus ini know the usa is not perfect.
there have always been social issues and differences.
politics has been for many people divisive.

USA, you ignored Puerto Rico when it was devastated. Your leader downplayed a pandemic and magnified the consequences. Your Congress spent trillions on making rich people feel a sense of hope for themselves and threw some crumbs to the people.
USA, you have homeless people and vacant buildings sharing the same areas. You have humongous healthcare costs and kept healthcare linked to employment, then destroyed your economy and the employment.
USA, you have no national standards for caring for the health or the education of the people.
Other countries have felt that Americans are ignorant and rude and self-centered. And then with Bozo in charge, their feelings were confirmed. -

What is REALLY behind the destruction of the Postal Service? I decided to research it ...
by Terry ini don't know about you - but i never know when i'm being lied to or told the truth any longer.
partisans are tribes warring on truth.
i decided to see what i could find out historically and this is what i've come up with.

OnTheWayOut
While your opening post if full of truths, why are you avoiding the current situation where Bozo put another clown in charge and they are sabotaging whatever functionality is left of the post office?
A jealousy thing about a billionaire owning a newspaper and wanting to muck it up over the election. -

Attorney General Bill Barr...what do you think of him?
by minimus inthe us attorney general appears to be a polarizing figure.
he certainly is not like his predecessor from alabama, jeff sessions .
barr seems to speak his mind and i really don’t think that he has a problem sticking up for what he believes in.. i like him but i also liked sessions.

Wow Min, can't you see that Barr is always trying to do the bindings of Donald Trump? ...He's supposed to be represent the country, not the president.

A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist
by Giles Gray ini would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.
i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.
i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

Waton: The generation of partakers will pass away, when they are finished overlapping, at the outset of the Great Tribulation, long before all the Things have occurred.
The end will come....the outset of the Great Tribulation....Armageddon....the beginning of the end....last days
See how difficult it is to separate which one they want you to understand? Because they really don't want you to know which.
Sometime in the future, when the G.B. see it is time, they will close the gates or flee to an Island with suitcases of cash and say the Great Tribulation has started.
