  Perry, I hope you can feel the caring concern here- Several pages of people trying to wake you up. I am confident that we are not here just to pick a fight with you, but to help you.
  Your posted video on page 4 should really help in that goal. Your own beliefs show that your God doesn't care in the least what people do that is good, but that they must "believe" something dogmatically or they are bad. So your own belief system condemns at least 2/3rds of all children because they are born into non-Christian beliefs. Chinese and Indian children are "bad."

  However aside from all this, vs. 18 makes it clear exactly what Jesus saves us from. And, it is not from being destroyed at Armageddon. Jesus saves us from being officially condemned at judgment after we die.

  Now, here is my attempt to wake you up. NO, PERRY. Jehovah's Witnesses claim that their message is clear from the Bible and you are no different. The Bible is not "clear exactly" in anything. The form of Christianity you live is no more clear than the form of Christianity that Ethiopians live or that American Baptists or Roman Catholics live.

  You are told a completely different set of values/rules/doctrines than the one you left, but ones that are just as rigid and that tug at your emotions in similar ways. You have traded "Believe or Jehovah will destroy you at Armageddon" for the new declaration: "Accept Jesus a certain way or be judged and condemned." (Pick on "condemned" all you want. I just don't know the specifics of your religion, whether people are eternally destroyed or suffer in hellfire for eternity or what, but it doesn't really matter.)

  The "5 Pillars" of Witness life...

  - prayer.

  - personal study.

  Must be in harmony with Jehovah's Will. The literature and videos from jw . org will tell you what that is.

  - personal study

  .....which of course means primarily to be reading Watchtower literature.

  -meeting attendance and participation

  Participation means commenting in harmony with whatever the literature says. It does not mean questioning and it definitely does not mean commenting off the top of your head.

  -field service

  They don't care how productive your "service" is, how many Tim Horton's/Starbucks/McDonald's breaks you take or if you just have a good conversation standing next to a cart. But you still gotta turn in a minimum amount of time to show that you are dedicating your life to the organization.

  - and something else equally forgettable.....

  Maybe that was to believe any nonsense the Governing Body says or to live as if the end is "soon."

  The C.O. said they were to "snatch me out of the fire." They didn't try for more than one effort to get me back. They won't try now either.

  Dating After Leaving?

  hey guys,.

  this is going to be a topic of a different nature.

  so, while i am not looking to date at the current moment since i'm still trying to figure out who i am and what i want life, i do want to start dating in the near future.. my issue is that i've been in for almost all my life and it's left a big hole when it comes to my romantic life.. i was wondering, after leaving, did any of you date?

  Dating. Man oh man. Ex-JW's are all over the map.

  I don't know how e-harmony matched such a wonderful person as Mrs. Flipper with Mr. Flipper but maybe it would do the same for you. (Just kidding and jabbing at one of my best friends.)

  I am not dating because I remain married to my JW wife. But I have seen ex-JW's find other ex-JW's and I have seen them strike out in other areas. In most cases, it seems that people move on to the area of life they are most comfortable with. Some are most comfortable going back out into the world and making friends via other ex-JW's via meetup.com groups of ex-JW or other places where ex-JW's meet together. Most seem to find a mate through their other ways of trying to be "normal" again- joining classes or groups that share an interest. Most seem to share their JW experience after a couple of dates because it is important to them and they don't want to waste their time with someone who won't see it as "important" to them.

  Again, Mrs. Flipper is a great example. She reached out to the jw . com community on this forum and tried to learn about us. She loves learning and sharing with us about our ex-JW experience even though she was not involved at the time. She does that in order to share her husband's life more fully. While you won't (maybe) find someone like that, if you are asking if you should share the experience, it probably means you need to share it. Good luck.

  Official welcome to you, a long-time reader, first-time poster.

  You have checked out of the Hotel-Jehovah's-Witnesses but you can never truly leave because of your family ties. I would like to make an excuse for your father, but I cannot. I don't know him at all and whether he is just another victim of the cult or a willing "flaming ashpile" (that is what you meant, isn't it?).

  He just might be another one who could say "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"

  I hope you feel welcome to vent here and that some help is found. See you around the water cooler.

  I can say everything that I want to say to a JW in less than 5 minutes. On dozens of occasions, I have achieved the "deer in the headlights" look every time using the method that my wife and I demonstrated.

  You can never "say" anything in less than 5 minutes. You always find some link to bizarre thoughts that takes an hour or more. I saw the preachy look of this video and that it was over an hour and I didn't even bother with it. (I probably should just to see what you and your wife look like, but since there is no actual bird on your shoulder, I lose interest.) That's the reaction of a JW also- instant turn-off. And your getting a JW to have that "deer in the headlights" look- how helpful is that? I know you think you are reaching them because you reach a stumping point. But time and time again, people have stumped your closed mind on this forum by pointing out flaws in your fundamentalist thinking or demonstrating why evolution or global warming must be true. You get that "deer" look and then just go on and post more links to garbage.

  I am pretty sure the average JW just goes on when you point out contradictions to their beliefs in the book that is loaded with contradictions. Perry, all I ever see from you is that you are the JW of fundamentalism here. You refuse to learn and grow in any direction other than "I have the truth, I know I am right."

  Remember, I continue to point this out to you because you are just like a JW. I believe you truly want someone to reach through your closed mind and wake you up. It's why you keep posting garbage here. You truly want us to snap you out of accepting it.

  So after I looked it up, I determined that "righteous" is not exclusive to religion and believers in God. Who doesn't accept that some kind of pudding isn't that good that it is righteous, or that a person is decent and upright enough for that label?

  I had a feeling your question really led to a Biblical standard of following what each poster believes are God's standards of righteousness, just by your attempt to dismiss people that don't "believe in righteousness."
  While I never had "righteous" bread pudding, I have had "righteous" sexual encounters and "righteous" reactions to alcohol/chemical experiences.
  I have also determined that I have a way better standard of righteousness than the racist, womanizing, rape-approving, killer of the Bible than it's God does.

  
  I am a decent guy. I don't go around deliberately hurting people. I don't kill people and take their virgin daughters as "wives." I give myself a TEN.
