People who hear too much "Jesus" may tune out, so the lessons could be for those that believe in "something" but are tired of or not ready for evangelical preaching.
OR
Watchtower really wants to stand out from Christendom. In the past, doing away with birthdays and Christmas and other holidays, no military service, NOW VERY LITTLE JESUS.
I think the name "JEHOVAH's Witnesses" says it all. It's all about JEHOVAH.

I am not quite in my early 60’s yet. I was baptized in 1988. I served as a ministerial servant and an elder. I gave my all for many years, but not nearly as many as you, and I started to question many things. The generation teaching, amongst many others. If I had not faded and left around 2007,I would have stormed out of the Hall when they introduced "overlapping generations." You are only "basically a non-entity" in the Kingdom Hall. To them, you are only as valuable as compared to how much you did for them this month, this midweek meeting, today. But you are valuable outside of that place to some people, at the very least to yourself.-
If I were to go back to the beginning of my postings on this forum, I can see that I was a bit disturbed that they weren't putting much effort into bringing me back to the fold. But I eventually realized I should be glad for that. It's a cult. Once they have no control over you, you are useless to them. But I managed to turn it around- They only have the control over you that you give them, so give them none.
Whatever your reason for being a JW, don't beat yourself up for "wasting" some of your life. You didn't know. And some other circumstances can just as easily rob any of us of our younger years- health, debt, addiction, family woes, being stranded on an island with Gilligan and a professor who couldn't patch a boat (or your life's equivalent to that). -

"A reliable source in Bethel told me one of his daughter in laws accused him of getting drunk in family gatherings. His 2 sons also serve in Bethel one even is a member of the U.S. branch committee.
His 2 sons are being investigated by the branch for covering up daddy's addiction.
There's a probability that his oldest son might also be removed from the branch committee."
I imagine it's gotta be more than getting drunk. They would generally cover up such a minor thing for anyone Elder and Up. But who knows? There may be a need for changes, and Tony went off-script all the time with his "tight pants" talks and other stuff about killing apostates. Just because Jehovah is spirit-guiding you, it doesn't mean you can go beyond what is written in Watchtower.
If it's just health reasons or something similar, Watchtower might want to see who speculates and who leaks any truths before they are announced. -

Watchtower Jul 22 - Jesus directed the GB on how to deal with Covid
by Listener in14 jesus provides wise direction in times of crisis.
the benefits of that direction were evident when the covid-19 pandemic broke out.
while many in the world were uncertain about what course to take, jesus made sure that we received clear guidance to keep us safe.

Yes, they did not fare better than so many other religions. Jw's died from COVID. It was the perfect opportunity for Jehovah to show up "Baal" and keep all the flock safe from COVID.

Pimo's walking out
by Foolednomore inis it possible that jw's would get so worn out by watchtower 's bullshit that they would stand up gather their stuff and walk out of a meeting or a convention.
i can see a small number doing it..

I left calculating a careful exit after I woke up. But had I not woken up by then, when they introduced "overlapping-generation" I would have said "What the f#$% is that?" and walked out the door.
That kind a of snap realization is rare.

What are some of the weird teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, past and present?
by Vanderhoven7 ini just picked up a few from mark jones as follows:.
i see is that the vast majority of jws don't seem to understand what their religion actually teaches.. the more controversial or embarrassing doctrine - although still official doctrine that has never been rescinded - is just not talked about anymore in the magazines.
there are dinosaurs living on venus.https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/2fowhx/dinosaurs_on_venus/.

Weird, I cannot beat dinosaurs on Venus.
But I will stick with current beliefs.
The Bible condemns birthdays.
Blood transfusions are equivalent to eating blood.
Members are encouraged to turn in other members for interfaith if they celebrate a holiday or visit a church and also turn them in for sin if they go to R-rated movies or smoke a cigarette (one of the worst sins).
Buying Girl Scout cookies is supporting a paramilitary organization.
Various Bible verses that are inconvenient to their teachings are "symbolic" and others that help their doctrine are "literal" but they don't have a way for anyone to know the difference, so you will just have to accept their decisions. -

DoubtingThomas
Atheists are a cult.
Anti-Jws are in a cult.
That's why I don't bother arguing with people on the term "cult" but add in that things like Jehovah's Witnesses are a "dangerous mind control cult."
Loosely, many groups have cult characteristics. But atheists are free to do as they please. Most Catholics are free to sin and don't get shunned by their grandmother. -

I know, right? Some people cannot realize that its all nonsense- Watchtower, the Bible. Christianity.
I have even met some that believe much of the basis on which Watchtower built itself, but they declare that they lost their way at some doctrinal changes.
Watchtower taught me to do research. Once I freed myself of their limits and rules on that (of sticking to their sources) I was able to find the path of total release from bogus Christianity and the man-made Bible. How can others not figure that out?

Can Jehovah's Witnesses explain the overlapping generation?
by pistolpete ini found this interesting topic on the current views among jws regarding the overlapping generation.. the posts are hilarious.
how do most jehovah's witnesses explain the overlapping generation?.
i've asked a couple of jws to explain the overlapping generation and they directed me to the website jw------org.. either they don't know, or they do know but don't want to discuss it because they know it's bogus and embarrassing.. either way, surely they must know that this just extended the last days another 80 years from the time fred franz died.

I can explain it.
"Watchtower was never wrong- EVER! So when time ran out on the generation of 1914, "apparently" Jesus must have meant that 'this generation' meant something other than the normal definition. Watchtower decided it meant an overlapping generation. See? They still are not wrong."

The Watchtowers
by BluesBrother inedit .. i messed up the title, on this touchscreen tablet and now i can’t edit it !
the title should be “ the watchtower’s (sort of) apology for 1975 ….. sorry.
january 1st 1976, i remember that day when i heard a radio disc jockey gleefully announce that the world had not ended as jehovah’s witnesses had said it would .

We never said what you think we said. We were just very eager. If you are still hung up on this, you need to adjust your attitude. If you insist on an apology, we are sorry that we were so eager to see this glorious day arrive that you messed up and read too much into what we said in our eagerness
