Agreed. However, there's no secret that he has a phenomenal voice. Even not-so-much-fans often admit that!

Well, I am. Little Drummer Boy can attest to my fan-hood-ness:
I'm headed to his concert in Chicago next weekend. Can't wait! This will be the third concert of his I've attended, and I have the best seats yet (floor level, 20 rows from stage). Just wonderin' if anyone else here is going to any of his concerts this year. When and where?
And by the way, for any of you who don't like Josh Groban and/or have nothing nice to say about him or his music, please don't spoil this thread for me by bashing him. I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to everyone who reposted this so I could read it.
Since when have they had "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" as their letterhead? They seem to be more and more trying to publicly look like they fit in with mainstream Christianity.
I'm surprized that they didn't already warn publishers NOT to distribute the "study edition" to worldly people. I suppose that will come in a KM as the time gets closer.
It was hard enough for me to have to read the WT when it contained both study articles and non-study ones; gives me a headache just thinking of reading a WT full of only study articles, "discipline from Jehovah", "loving reminders", and admonition to "obey" Jehovah's "organization.

Characteristics of Narcissistic Mothers
by rebel8 inhttp://www.geocities.com/zpg1957/narcissists.htm i've had some narcissistic types in my life and boy, does this article ring true.
(this is not true of my mother but just like a mirror image of my sister.
also reminds me of the dynamics of the wt org.

WOW!!!! This couldn't be a more spot-on description of Little Drummer Boy's mom (my mother-in-law). Every word applies to her in exact detail. I'm impressed at the level of comprehension the author of this article has of this personality type. I usually don't read excessively long posts like this, but I couldn't stop reading it. It gives me a better understanding of what my husband and his siblings went through as children. Thanks for posting it!

The Jehovah's Witness Cult Hires Illegal Immigrants
by lisavegas420 inworking in retail management is a never ending adventure.
you never know what is lurking around the next corner.
such was the case about six months ago when my boss asked me to stay over on a sunday night to watch the store while a floor cleaning crew did a strip and wax.. now with my self being a former jehovah's witness, i already knew that a great deal of the jw's owned and operated their own floor cleaning buisnesses, and there was a good chance that the floor crew on that sunday night would more than likely be a jw operation.. when the guys first walked in, i just had a feeling that my hunch was right.

No apology necessary. Just wanted you to know the topic of this thread was not intended as a generalization of all JWs. Thanks for clarifying your comments.

This thread made it sound like it is the GB's policy to employ and use illegals...
How? I don't see anything in her post that implied that the GB has a policy to employ illegals. In fact, she didn't even say the JWs were even elders. Therefore, maybe they weren't aware of this stated instruction to elders:
For a fact, elders are instructed that they are not under obligation to turn in illegal immigrants who are studying or are in the congregation.
But in all honesty, individuals in JW's who do this are no different then any other individuals in other religions, organizations, and political groups who do the exact same thing .
Gee, sounds like what I just posted:
There are ENDLESS businesses owned by 'Christians' of different denominations that do the same thing
You're right, no argument there. I never said JW's were the ONLY ones who do this. I just resent the hypocrisy of many elders and "higher up's" in the org. JWs are constantly being told to "obey the laws" and "give a good witness" in everything they do, whether it's the way they dress, how they speak, what kind of music they listen to, etc. When a long standing elder knowingly employs illegal immigrants, that's hypocrisy at it's finest.
This whole thread and it's "all or nothing" assumptions because someone knows a JW or two who does this is ridiculous.
I think YOU are the one making an "all or nothing assumption". Nothing of the kind was implied. Lisavegas420's post was about ONE incident; my comments were about ONE elder. No one said all JWs or only JWs employ this tactic. JWDaughter stated this well:
if the jehovah's witnesses continually set themselve apart from other religions, then when they do the wrong thing, they shouldn't bring up the standards of other, un-named and vaguely referenced religions.
It's about one example (of many) of hypocrisy among JWs. People living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Guess what? Now that you know about it, you are an accomplice to a felony! Have a nice day!
If you would actually read what I posted, you would see that
We subcontracted office cleaning accounts from a long-standing elder in our former congregation.
We SUBCONTRACTED. We were one of several companies or individuals this elder hired as subcontractors. We personally did the work that we subcontracted. No illegal immigrants ever worked under our contract. The elder in question, in addition to hiring us as subcontractors, also hired illegals for other cleaning work he wanted them to do. We had absolutely nothing to do with whomever else this man chose to hire as employees or subcontractors.
You seem to delight in trying to pin blame, error, or consequences on me when I was just posting about how a particular elder is hypocritical. Your comments aren't taken as insightful or constructive, rather, you come across as arrogant and pompous. You don't have to be an a$$. Have a nice day.

What Have YOU Learned Since Leaving???

It's funny, my husband and I were just discussing this last night. The only thing we can do is learn from our 14 years of enslavement to the WT. In our mid-30's, we are now starting our lives over again as though we are in our early 20's. We're both furthering our college education, looking forward to getting out of debt that a couple of JW's caused (long story), and maybe someday we'll save up enough money to build ourselves a new home; all of which we were discouraged to do as JWs.
What we've learned is that rather than living a life in control of the organization and "wait on Jehovah" to make our lives better, we are responsible to make our lives better, to make the world better, to help our son have lots of opportunities when he gets older. We have the power to improve on our "lot in life", and we intend to learn from our mistakes as JWs and make a better life from here on out.
Despite the shape we were left in after leaving the borg, financially, emotionally, etc., I now have more hope for the future than I EVER did as a witness.

Why not spend the time reading the Bible, instead- or playing video games????
The same goes for you, MAD. You are also spending a great deal of time here. If you are truly one of Jehovah's Witnesses, you shouldn't be LOOKING at this forum at all, much less a registered member of it. I'm not sure what your agenda is, if any, but there are few here who share your sentiments. I'm not saying you're not welcome, because everybody is. However, if you haven't figured it out, most members on this board are ex-witnesses, even what you might consider apostates.
Just curious, how long have you been one of Jehovah's Witnesses?
