Thanks for backing me up. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who notices things like that. Nope, I've never heard of the book, but I'll take check it out!

Hey, this is under Jokes and Humor, so don't get too offended.
I just wanted to vent about how people say things incorrectly, such as pronouncing things wrong or saying phrases wrong. I'll start, and if you have any to add, please feel free. Also, I'd love to know that I'm not the only one who notices these things and is bothered by them. Here goes...
1) "I could care less." NO!!! It's "I couldn't care less." If you could care less, you would. When you say "I couldn't care less", you mean that you care so little that you couldn't possibly care any less than you do.
2) "The point is mute." NO!! It's "The point is moot." Moot, meaning irrelevant, of no practical importance. Not mute, meaning without sound.
3) "Valentimes Day." NO!! It's "Valentines Day."
I know there are more. I'll add them if I think of them. Anyone else want to vent?

I'm a nurse (note my avatar). I love my job and everyone I work with. I'm not sure what you do right now that you are hating, so I don't know what to suggest as to "a different direction".

Well, it's no wonder, given your age!

All joking aside, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Rheumatoid arthritis is actually an autoimmune disorder, so it has nothing to do with age. In fact, it often strikes young children, and they must battle it for the rest of their lives. There is no cure, but there are lots of newer medicines that can help slow the progression of it and ease the pain. Do educate yourself about the disease (through reliable sources) and find a good rheumatologist. Good luck and good health to you!

We live in a college town, and so many of the studies that anyone in our cong. did was with Chinese students. Out of the hundreds of Chinese that were studied with over the years, guess how many attended meetings and got baptized? NONE!!! What a waste of time. I always hated working in that territory, because of the language barrier and the knowledge that whatever "good" experiences we had, I knew it would eventually be for nothing. I personally studied with 2 Chinese women. They were very hospitable and always looked forward to our study. But I always got the impression that they weren't studying out of interest in practicing religion, but out of curiosity of the Bible as an interesting book. They wanted to study it like a text book, starting from the beginning. Their interest was purely academic, in my opinion.

I don't know his music, is he a witness or is it just coincidence?
I am a huge Josh fan. I own EVERY CD he has, and I have almost every song on them memorized (Italian, Spanish, English and all). I have been to two of his concerts, and I'm going to another in February. I can tell you that Josh IS NOT NOR HAS HE EVER BEEN A JW!!!!! I cringe at the thought. It is of no relevance that his album is titled AWAKE, except that the last song on the special edition (15 tracks instead of 13) is called Awake; a very sad but beatiful song. This album is AWESOME, but hey, I'm not biased at all, right? I think every album he has is awesome.

Because you can
by free2beme inwhile we might think that people who provide customer service are rude, inconsiderate and unthankful.
take a moment to think about how we as a society treat one another.
for example, when you call in with a problem on something and treat the person who answers the phone like they are the one who caused the problem, made the decision who lead to your hassle and treat them with all the anger you have built up.

I am a big promoter of customer service. When I am in the position of providing customer service, it is part of my personality to smile and say thank you and make the customer feel appreciated. I have good cutomer service skills, but I also expect it in return. Why is it that 9 times out of 10 I'm the one saying Thank You to the cashier when I buy something? I don't get why, when I'm standing at a counter for 10 minutes waiting for help, the employee makes direct eye contact and keeps going about her business, without even a "I'll be with you in a minute". I despise rude people (waiters, cashiers, drive through workers, whoever) and I have on occasion brought it to the attention of the manager when they are unmistakably rude. Employers in service industries should not tolerate people who cannot deal well with customers. Rudeness or indifference should never be OK.
On the flip side, I try to make a point to let people (and/or their manager) know when they've been kind, patient, helpful, etc. I have been guilty of calling up my health insurance company, angry about the fact that despite my numerous phone calls and lots of time wasted, they still haven't resolved the problem. But there are certain people who are really good about diffusing that kind of anger, and they 'kill me with kindness'. In the end, I always thank the nice ones for being so helpful and kind.

Computer Repair Fraud!!!
by What-A-Coincidence inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxqx4hgekgq.
bastards!.
what has been your experience with pc repair?
-

Yeah, yeah, so some people might have been a little crooked. You could do the exact same story on a car repair, or an appliance repair, or whatever, and this is bound to happen. It's not right, but it happens. Of course "all they had to do was plug in a cable..." and then charged their minimum fee. They have every right to charge a fee for taking their time to look at your computer and use their knowledge to diagnose it. There's a reason why many people have to pay someone else to fix their computers- it's because they (the computer owners) don't have the skill or knowledge to do it themselves. As a smart consumer, you would want to call ahead to any PC repair shop and ASK what their minimum fees are, and what the hourly rate is, etc.
Hello, people, "fee for service" transactions happen every day. It's easy to say, "well that was such an easy fix, they shouldn't even charge for that", when you didn't have to go to college to do PC repair, and you don't have to pay rent for your store, or pay your employees, or pay the utilities, or pay for business insurance. There is so much more to having any kind of service business. The people providing the service do not pocket anywhere near all of the money the business collects. Sheesh!!!
(again, I am in no way endorsing the careless or crooked business techniques; I'm just saying that even though it was a simple repair, they were all justified in charging whatever their minimum fee is.)

Nope. No way. I guess there's a reason why even the borg warned people about spreading rumors about what someone heard a bethelite or a GB member say. It's all a bunch of hype!
