If you ain't a PIONEER, You ain't SH**!!!
by Open mind inmy loyal-dub wife had a wonderful morning knocking on empty homes earlier this week.
last night she confided in me with an observation.
she has noticed what she perceives to be a "pioneer clique" in our congregation.

They also get 1st dibs on new releases at the DC's. Or at least when they first released the Proclaimers book at the convention, they said because it was a large hardcover book, they didn't supply enough for everyone to get one at the DC. So they said at the 1st break after the release, only pioneers and elders could get one. Then they would see what they had left to give to "the others" present.
By the way, do pioneers have some i.d. card stating that they are pioneers? How else could they prove it?

Would have the chutzpa to clap for a DF or reproving announcement?
Just start clapping, stand up and keep clapping all the way out of the K Hall.
Now that would be hilarious!
Yes, that would be too funny. I'll never set foot in a kingdumb hall again, so I'll never have the opportunity. But, if someone who still goes to the hall feels up to the challenge . . .

I always used to despise it when they would read the list of auxiliary pioneers for the coming month. Then we all had to clap for them. I began to refuse to clap for them, because I think they shouldn't get any special recognition more than anyone else who put forth the effort to go out in service.
They always hammered on the idea that 'As long as you're doing as much as you can, it is acceptable to Jehovah'; then ensued the tired story about the old lady who gave two small coins at the temple in Jesus' time, blah, blah, blah. Well, I thought announcing and clapping for someone who signed up to aux pioneer was the exact opposite of what that parable was trying to teach. So I refused to clap.
There were lots of cases of older widows with lots of health problems, etc. who would at least go out in service 10 hours a month, even though they were exhausted and not feeling well. But did anyone announce their names and clap for them?

It's true that darker color skin is more resistant to burning, but as Open Mind said, they can still get sunburned. But it doesn't have to be a burn for it to be damaging. A tan is your skin's way of trying to shield itself from harmful UV rays. Skin cancer in dark skin is less common; however, they can still get melanoma, especially in the nail beds and on the soles of hands and feet where the skin is often lighter colored.
Absolutely-everyone of any skin color should be applying sunscreen daily and avoiding excessive exposure. Your skin will thank you as you get older by not having as many precancers and cancers; you'll also look so much younger than your sun-worshipping peers. Tanning is the quickest way to look old and weathered.
